So in the end Fifa '11 wasn't quite right with its prediction but came mighty close, only a bit of Aguero magic could make it false. I've been Daniel Quinton-Navarro, and this is where I bid my farewells - until next time of course! Ta ta for now!
You can continue to get involved tonight by voting for your "flop" and "top" of the match - I'd say Casillas for MoM! Without his saves this game would have turned out very different.
It was a fantastic game of football that offered everything and perhaps a 2-2 draw would have been a fair reflection on the game itself. But then again, football isn't fair. Madrid keep tabs on Barcelona who won by the same scoreline against Getafe earlier on tonight, whilst Atletico's remarkable run off not being able to beat Madrid, which dates back to 1999, continues. It also results in Los Colchoneros dropping down to 8th place in La Liga, with European football next season a distant dream.
Yes!!! Seconds later the game reaches a dramatic conclusion as Real Madrid hold on to secure three invaluable points in their pursuit of the domestic league title.
90' + 4'
90' + 3'
High hanging ball from Filipe is thrown into the mix and Reyes is unchallenged but his header is poor and Iker Casillas easily saves. Is that the last chance for Atleti to save something from this game?
90' + 2'
Gun-ho for Atletico here as they attack with urgency and pace but with that comes mistakes and Madrid are able to capitalise on them.
90' + 1'
Ronaldo turns manager on the touchline as he shouts orders to his team mates still on the pitch. Madrid have a free-kick in their own half, one of the three minutes of added time have been played.
Madrid with a chance to counter after an Atleti attack breaks down but Di Maria over hits his pass and the opportunity goes.
Yellow Card Xabi Alonso
Atleti force a corner here after dangerous attacking play but Carvalho leaps highest to head the ball clear under pressure.
Off the ball handbags there from Xabi Alonso on Aguero and Mourinho reacts by taking him off before he is sent off...!
Madrid look to respond immediately through Adebayor as they throw a long ball up towards him and the Togo international gets there first but his shot lacks any purchase and De Gea saves easily.
Goal Sergio Agüero
GOALL!!!!! AGUERO!!!!! Atleti are going to make the last five minutes interesting here! It is a moment of magic from Aguero! He plays the ball into Koke who gives it straight back to him, the Argentine doesn't need to look up as he prods the ball into the far corner Terrific finish! GAME. ON.
Alonso makes poor contact with the ball as he looks to provide but instead it nearly creeps in at the far post. Nobody made a darting run into the six yard box and the ball bounces as it curls towards the far post but it fails to turn enough as it misses target by inches.
Oezil just evades Dominguez's sliding challenge and he did well to do so otherwise it may have been something much worse. A free-kick is still awarded which Xabi Alonso will swing in from the left.
Clever chipped ball forward from Tiago aimed at either Costa or Aguero and it has the Madrid defence in a spot of trouble. Casillas comes out to try and command his area but Pepe opts to hook the ball clear with the two players closing in. Good decision from the defender allowing Los Blancos to regroup.
Madrid have lost some of their threat since Ronaldo's removal but Adebayor looks to change that. Khedira lifts the ball towards the striker but De Gea races off his line to beat him to it.
Yellow Card Marcelo
Marcelo goes in hard on Ujfalusi but the roaming full-back overacts the challenge resulting in an unjust booking for Marcelo.
Sergio Ramos copes well in a difficult position winning a free-kick in the corner for his side. Silly one to concede for Atleti as the Spanish defender had nowhere to go.
Forlan goes just too early as he was looking to test Casillas but the flag is correctly raised giving Madrid the chance to come again.
Ángel Di María
CARVALHO with a stunning sliding challenge there! Aguero is just about to pull the trigger when Carvalho prevents him from getting the shot away. Brilliant defending!
Ronaldo has two Atleti defenders for company but he gets by the two of them with one touch before being crowded out in the area when he was trying to create room to shoot.
Xabi Alonso, a man who always looks for a forward pass, can't find one their and his forced to go backwards. It is a clever ploy though as Madrid work a shot on goal just seven passes later - after CR7 exchanged passes with Oezil he could only hit is effort into the side netting.
Lass, on a yellow card, goes in hard against Reyes and then Aguero, but the referee adjudges that he did so fairly; rightly so. Madrid look to capitalise on Lass' physicality but the attack dies out to nothingness.
Ronaldo rises highest in the area only for the ball to come off the top of his head and loop high over the bar. CR7 looks to the heavens in desperation of a goal!
Atleti try the patient build-up play and it nearly works. Reyes breaks into the area to get on the end of Ujfalusi's low cross and the Spaniard shifts it onto Tiago who shapes to shoot but he can't get the ball from under his feet and Madrid get the ball clear.
Yellow Card Lassana Diarra
Weak passing in midfield from Atletico allows Lass to intercept the ball. He has willing runners ahead of him and he finds Khedira on the right whose devilish cross is heading straight for Benzema before De Gea plucks it out of the air.
Offside against Reyes after a searching cross-field ball from Tiago has him clear of the defence. He really wasn't, I mean really, really wasn't. A good four yards onside there!
RONALDO!! He's human! Madrid launch an attack at pace allowing Ronaldo to get on the end of a chipped pull-back but CR7 mis-cues his effort and slices it two yards forwards.
The game hasn't reached the same heights as the first half but instead it is threatening to boil over. Xabi Alonso goes in on Aguero from behind causing the striker to appear to be in some pain.
Madrid work it up the other end of the pitch as Ronaldo takes a shot, but his effort from the angle is scuffed and Atleti clear. CR7 is struggling tonight to find that elusive goal against Atletico.
AGUERO!!! The No. 10 is just onside and he races clean through but Casillas uses all his experience to close off the angle and tips the ball around with his hand to preserve his clean sheet.
Tiago plays a clever through ball for Aguero which takes out four Madrid defenders and the Argentine hits a shot-come-cross but in the end it goes off target and is too far ahead of Forlan at the far post.
The initial corner comes to nothing but the ball falls to Koke 25 yards out and the substitute hammers a shot on target which Casillas has to palm over.
Forlan looks to run Pepe again but this time the defender is cross quickly and puts the ball behind for a corner kick which Reyes will take.
Atletico have committed more platers forward early on in the second half with five players ahead of the ball but Madrid have been able to defend well, Benzema even tracking back to win back possession for his side.
We've got a stoppage here for Carvalho. The Madrid defender went in with a crunching tackle on Tiago but did more damage to himself. He's up and running now though.
SIDE NETTING!! FORLAN gets beyond Pepe and hits a low shot towards Casillas' near post and the net ripples only for the cheering crowd to realise it was the side netting.
Koke replaces the ineffectual Elias for Atletico as they hope to get back into the game.
And we are under way, Atleti have it all to do in the next forty-five...
And here come the players for the second half, more of the same please.
I've done the simulation before now, it was Liverpool - Chelsea back in 2005 and it got the 1-0 scoreline spot on! Have you guys got any Fifa simulation stories, let us know by using the comments box and the bottom of the page..
And the Fifa '11 simulation is dead on, Benzema to score first in a 2-0 win, with Oezil getting the second. Only if football games were 45 minutes long...!
A contributor from India thought that Atleti should have been 2-1 up (before Madrid's second) and you'd have to agree. Aguero, Forlan and Tiago all guilty of missing great chances for the home side!
And that's the half! It has been an action packed first forty-five minutes with Madrid two up thanks to Benzema and Oezil (check Fifa '11 simulation!!) But Atleti are not out of this game and should have at least one goal to their name after wasting several promising positions. Join us in 15 minutes to see how this one is going to turn out...
45' + 1'
Ronaldo strides down the right and his cut back is deflected by Godin towards his own goal but De Gea was in the right place to ensure there wasn't to be an OG.
45' + 1'
And fifteen seconds into it Madrid should have put Ronaldo one-on-one but Oezil wastes the chance. The German international can't get his ball beyond Dominguez and the chance goes.
One minute of injury time to be played here...
Ronaldo has the chance from a free-kick 35 yards out but this time he doesn't get it quite right as the Atleti wall does its job and charges the ball down.
He is at it again just seconds later. This time Ronaldo is coming in from the left flank and drives an ambitious effort which De Gea can only punch away. CR7 hasn't scored against Atletico in La Liga before tonight, will this be his chance?
RONALDO!!! GREAT EFFORT!! Madrid win the ball back in the midfield and CR7 is away like a rocket, Oezil finds him with a lifted ball and the Portuguese man's control is world-class as he brings it down with his chest. He then lashes it at goal but his effort is just too high to test De Gea in the Atleti goal.
AGUERO!! The striker did superbly to hold his run and Kun is running in at the angle but Marcelo recovers so quickly there to make a last ditch challenge before the Argentine can test Casillas again.
Atletico will rue those numerous missed chances now as Forlan looks to kick-start a response but Pepe halts the striker on the edge of the box with ease.
Yellow Card Tomas Ujfalusi
Elias comes in late on Sergio Ramos giving the referee no choice but to award a free-kick for Madrid.
Aguero has a shout for a penalty kick turned down by the referee, and much to the jubilation of the Madrid supporters the Atletico striker is booked for simulation!
Yellow Card Sergio Agüero
Goal Mesut Özil
GOALLL!!!!!!! OEZIL!!!!! Madrid work the ball through Benzema brilliantly down the right hand side and he crosses for Ronaldo, the ball goes beyond CR7 but Marcelo is on hand to pick up the loose ball. The Brazilian beats his may before laying it off for Oezil who sweeps a first time effort past De Gea. 2-0
Unlike Reyes! He works some room to cross and finds Forlan but the striker's header goes well of target when he should have done better.
Ramos does brilliantly until the last, he works the one-two twice on his way to the byline with Oezil and Khedira but the Spaniard is unable to find a cross at the crucial moment.
And another one!! It is incredible how Atleti haven't found an equaliser yet, Aguero turns his marker with one touch and crashes an effort towards goal from a tight angle but Casilla was well positioned and palmed it over the top of the bar.
El Atleti move it quickly up the other end and Tiago has a chance to strike but he takes too long to decide what he wants to do with it and he is crowded it out. Another chance gone for the home side...!
RONALDO!!!!! Marcelo gets forward for one of the first times in the match and sends a wonderful low cross from deep with CR7 looking to get on the end of it. The cross is just too far ahead of Ronaldo though!!
Can Madrid weather the storm here? Aguero is played in after a superb forward ball from Suarez and Kun fires it low across goal causing all sorts of problems. Eventually Xabi Alonso manages to hack the ball clear from inside his own penalty area.
Reyes delivers a beaut of a ball into the six-yard area and Forlan hammers a header towards goal which has Casillas reacting brilliantly to tip it over the bar!!!
Atletico are knocking hard!!! Aguero has half-a-yard just outside the penalty area and the Argentine turns and hits a vicious drive towards goal which has Casillas scrambling, but the Spanish No. 1 gets down low to his right to tip the ball around the post for a corner.
SO CLOSE!! Forlan this time is found expertly on the right from Elias' forward ball and the striker looks to cross for Aguero lurking at the far post but Carvalho intercepts with some truly spectacular acrobatics to prevent a certain equaliser.
Forlan finds some space for a split second as the Uruguayan looks to get on the end of Tiago's forward pass but it is too straight and runs through to Casillas.
De Gea is tested once more as Lass hits a shot towards goal but it was poorly hit. Moments earlier Benzema has showed some decent skill inside the area but El Atleti manage to outnumber the goalscorer.
Brilliant effort from Reyes, the ex-Arsenal man swings it in with some real venom and it goes all the way through to Casillas who opts to punch it behind to be sure. The resulting corner is poor allowing Los Blancos to clear.
Los Colchoneros have a free-kick on the far side after a reckless challenge from Ricardo Carvalho. Reyes is the man stepping over this one....
Real look to take a free-kick early as Xabi Alonso lifts it towards the back post and Sergio Ramos but it is just over hit and the chance is gone.
Assist Sami Khedira
Goal Karim Benzema
GOAL!!!!!! BENZEMA!!!!!!! Real are on their way with a truly wonderful goal! They work the ball patiently on the edge of the area until the ball is played into Khedira, the German takes one touch before playing in Benzema who calmly lifts the ball beyond the 'keeper to give Real the lead.
Forlan takes his time before crossing in from the left of the area but Casillas commands his area will and catches the ball in the air without any serious pressure from Atletico players.
Atletico force a corner up the other end but it results in a break away for Real until Ronaldo is crowed, fairly according to the referee. El Atleti then counter themselves as Diarra slide in hard on Reyes, this time a free-kick is given.
KHEDIRA!!!! Benzema takes advantage of poor play in Atletico's midfield and the France international is able to play in Khedira. The German is quickly crowded out but he still manages to poke a shot towards goal but De Gea gets down to save the shot well.
And it is one of his...he steps back and takes a three step run up before striking the ball toward goal but De Gea gets everything behind it, managing to keep a hold of it on the second time of asking.
CR7 works hard to create some space outside Los Rojiblancos area but he is tripped by Elias as he looks to turn giving himself a chance to hit one of his free-kicks...
Ujfalusi gets forward well down the right side for Atletico but his controls fails him as Real are awarded the throw in on the far side.
Karim Benzema has a brilliant chance early on to test Manchester United target De Gea but the France striker hits his shot hopelessly wide after a quick break from Real.
We get under way with Atletico starting us off in their customary home kit of red and white striped shirts, blue shorts and socks....
Madrid, drawn against English side, Tottenham Hotspurs, in the Champions League last eight will hope that they can continue their fine form in preparation of their first quarter final clash in the Champions League for six seasons...
The players are out as we await the formalities to pass us by before the night gets under way....
One more "did you know?" Real are looking to record their fourth victory this season over their city rivals having beaten them in the league earlier in the season, and twice in the Copa del Rey quarter-final tie.
Real Madrid are aware of Los Rojiblancos ability in front of goal and defender Raul Albiol has said Real cannot make any mistakes. "Their attacking line up is very dangerous, it has plenty of quality. We have to be very careful against Aguero and Forlan."
Barcelona have finished 2-1 victors over Getafe but boy did they hold on at the end...Real know they must win this game to keep their title ambitions alive.
We should be in for some goals in this one, with both Forlan and Benzema looking good in front of goal. Diego Forlan has managed to score in three of his last four games against Madrid, whilst Benzema has scored a brace in his last three games...
Our Fifa 11 simulation has predicted a 2-0 victory for Los Blancos tonight, with Oezil and Benzema the scorers. You can get involved by leaving a comment at the bottom of the page, leave your final scores or opinions on the match and I’ll try and get them up.
Star striker Diego Forlan believes that Atletico Madrid can break their winless run against Real, which stretches back to 1999. "In 90 minutes anything can happen. All spells are broken, and someday this one will break”.
Real Madrid’s Starting XI: Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo; Lass, Xabi Alonso, Khedira; Oezil, Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Atletico Madrid’s Starting XI: De Gea; Ujfalusi, Godin, Dominguez, Felipe; Reyes, Suarez, Tiago, Elias; Aguero, Forlan.
We've just got the starting eleven through and they are as follows...
Make that 2-1, thanks to a brilliant header from Manu in the 88th minute, still time in that one!!
Los Blancos meanwhile will be hoping to keep tabs on league leaders, Barcelona, who are currently 2-0 up against Getafe.
Atletico are hoping to end their derby day blues which dates back to 1999, a 3-1 victory over their city rivals at the Bernabeu.
Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the El Derbi Madrileno, as we begin the countdown to kick-off in little over fifteen minutes...
