  • That's it from me, Miles Chambers, but be sure to stick around on Goal.com for all the reaction to this match, the Serie A results and the weekend's football in general!
  • Another notch in the bedpost for Milan as they recover their season from its sloppy start, then. Atalanta, contrastingly, continue their woeful form and will leave their ground licking wounds and hoping they turn a corner quickly and sharply.
  • Full-time! A scrappy second half ended goalless and AC Milan claim all three points at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia thanks to Stephan El Shaarawy's first-half strike. The red card to Davide Brivio in the second half didn't affect the game too much; in fact, the Rossoneri arguably sat back and became comfortable containing once they had the extra player.
  • 90' + 3'
Milan will move into fifth in Serie A as results stand! Is European football a very viable possibility once more?
  • 90' + 1'
    Yellow Card Christian Abbiati
  • 90' + 1'
Aaaaand there's the 11th yellow card brandishing of the afternoon, this time to the Milan goalkeeper for throwing his toys out of his proverbial pram after being nudged in the face. Typical stuff from a derby game, I suppose!
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Carlos Javier Matheu
  • 90'
Four minutes of stoppage time at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia, where the handbags just keep on coming.
  • 89'
    Substitution M'Baye Niang Bakaye Traoré
  • 89'
    Yellow Card Carlos Carmona
  • 89'
Niang makes the tiniest of touches on Carmona, who goes down in the penalty area regardless and is deservedly booked for his daftness.
  • 88'
Milan have done what they did against Bologna, by dropping deep in the final 10 minutes. They conceded an own goal late in that game. Could this cost them in Bergamo??
  • 87'
Kwarteng Edmund ‏(@kwarteng_edmund) tweeted: "Milan should sign Icardi not Balotelli." Yep, the Argentine attacker has been impressing again today with his four goals (and counting!) for Sampdoria against Pescara.
  • 85'
    Substitution Stephan El Shaarawy Robinho
  • 85'
On comes Robinho for goalscorer El Shaarawy. His strike remains all that separates the sides with five minutes to go.
  • 84'
    Yellow Card Davide Biondini
  • 84'
Our ninth yellow card of the day (if you count both of Brivio's) goes to Biondini! Milan have been a bit petty, but Atalanta have just been undisciplined throughout this half.
  • 83'
Play has now been restricted down the Milan right. Niang has significantly quietened down in the last 20 minutes, but he is still a presence when he's on the ball.
  • 81'
Great save from Consigli! Flamini is a bit greedy and ignores Pazzini open to his left, sprinting into the box and shooting on goal. The smart save from Atalanta's birthday boy keeper deflects to Niang but his shot is blocked by an opposition body, and eventually the danger is cleared.
  • 80'
    Substitution Luca Cigarini Igor Budan
  • 80'
Ten minutes remain in this clash. Any final comments on this clash can be made via me on Twitter still, @Miles_Chambers!
  • 78'
    Yellow Card Andrea Consigli
  • 78'
    Yellow Card Philippe Mexes
  • 78'
Bookings for Milan defender Philippe Mexes and Atalanta goalkeeper (!!!) Andrea Consigli for their parts in running over and making a right royal fuss.
  • 77'
A beautiful (but beastly) slide tackle from Carmona on Niang, which the referee rightly waves play-on for. The Milan starlet writhes about unnecessarily and tempers boil over into a bit of handbags around the halfway line.
  • 76'
This second half has descended into a scrappy affair, even more so since the sending off.
  • 75'
Johnny F Baby ‏(@JohnJosephFotia) tweeted: "What are the chances of AC Milan signing Balotelli? Is it even possible? Score prediction AC Milan 2-0." As far as Goal.com understands, Milan want him but still haven't shown the intention to fork out his asking price. Will they before the transfer window closes? Who knows!
  • 73'
Eurgh. Cigarini's free kick is atrocious, and doesn't get past the first man.
  • 72'
Now it's Abate's turn to be penalised, with the Milan full-back giving a free-kick 25 yards out with an accidental handball.
  • 71'
    Yellow Card Riccardo Montolivo
  • 71'
Milan try to create another goal from a corner, but Biondini breaks away down the right, and does well to draw a foul from Montolivo about 45 yards from goal.
  • 69'
Adigbo Chidi ‏(@chidexta) tweeted: "Atalanta have a mountain to climb." Yes, they really do!
  • 67'
Milan are in a sort of casual dominance in this Lombardy derby, now. They're not marauding forwards carelessly, but instead they are just keeping things ticking over in midfield. It's not the most entertaining football but it's very efficient.
  • 65'
Credit to the home fans, they're still in full voice here in Bergamo, despite their team's fortunes looking poor at best...
  • 62'
Taking off star striker Denis is a statement of depressing intent from Atalanta - an intent to sit back and defend.
  • 61'
Substitution Germán Denis Carlos Javier Matheu
  • 60'
Well, it's firmly advantage Milan now. Already 1-0 ahead, they will surely be expected to extend their lead with a man extra on the pitch.
  • 59'
    Yellow/Red Davide Brivio
  • 59'
Atalanta are down to 10 men!! A stupid decision from Davide Brivio to drop his shoulder on Pazzini sees him given hos second yellow card of the day!!
  • 57'
Superb creativity on the left from Bonaventura to keep possession in Atalanta's favour. On the other flank, Davide Biondini is harshly penalised for a solid sliding tackle on El Shaarawy.
  • 55'
    Yellow Card Giampaolo Pazzini
  • 55'
    Yellow Card Cristian Raimondi
  • 55'
Finally! An Atalanta attack! Facundo Parra wins a corner from a tight angle. Nothing major, but it's an improvement.
  • 54'
Moe ‏(@milan_moe) tweeted: "A good half but we still need to get the ball to the front third of the field, it's to often played back to the defence."
  • 52'
The ball enters the final third of the pitch at the other end for the first time this half, but it's just Milan tracking back with their possession. Still not a single attempt at attacking from Atalanta.
  • 50'
Excellent physicality from Pazzini, who hustles the ball into his possession and sets El Shaarawy up down the right. Though his ball doesn't beat the first defender, Milan win a corner and this torrent of pressure continues from the hosts.
  • 49'
    Yellow Card Davide Brivio
  • 49'
Brivio gets a booking for pushing over Niang on the Milan right. The Rossoneri starlet has been superb so far and has been causing the full-back all sorts of problems.
  • 48'
This time the ref calls it right by penalising Giampaolo 'Pazzo' Pazzini for dragging his Atalanta marker down inside the area.
  • 47'
Montolivo is penalised harshly for a harmless tackle. The referee getting a bit excited by the home crowd reaction there.
  • 46'
    And... we... are... off!
  • The players are back out on the pitch and the game is about the get back under way. Will El Shaarawy add to his 15 goals in the Serie A season so far? Can Atalanta stage a comeback on home turf?Or can Milan finish their Lombardy neighbours off?
  • Remember to get in touch on Twitter - @Miles_Chambers - if you have anything you fancy sharing with the world about this game! So, you know, no irrelevant rants about the cost of milk or rantings about how annoying your neighbours are...
  • Half-time! AC Milan hold a 1-0 lead thanks to a moment of excellence from Stephan El Shaarawy. They deserve the lead without having been brilliant in attack, as Atalanta have whimpered between occasional glimpses of effort along their flanks.
  • 45' + 1'
Denis gets around the back of Cristian Zapata and crosses, but the referee deems the ball to have gone off the pitch. It hadn't. And what on earth was Zapata doing?!
  • 45'
One minute of injury time to play at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.
  • 44'
Atalanta finally get forward but Giacomo Bonaventura's ball is ghost-kicked (missed completely) by Denis 12 yards out.
  • 43'
You can't blame Milan for passing it around about the halfway line. You can, however, blame the hosts for showing such a lack of desire to press the Rossoneri.
  • 41'
Milan are confidently closing out this first half. The goal knocked the stuffing out of Atalanta, somewhat.
  • 39'
Montolivo, playing against his former club, loops a shot over from 25 yards. At the other end, Abbiati wins a free kick after being deemed to have been unfairly challenged in the air.
  • 38'
Needless to say, however, that El Shaarawy still looks like a fierce threat. Milan really have uncovered a gem, in my opinion.
  • 37'
El Shaarawy can't connect as well as he might have hoped on Abate's cross from near the byeline on the right.
  • 35'
Milan have quelled the initial response from Atalanta following the goal. The visitors are passing the ball about in the middle third as they gently probe for gaps to exploit.

Kfoury Peter tweets: "After all the struggling in the start of the season AC Milan learned from its mistakes so I don't think Cigarini will score."
  • 31'
Atalanta barrage forwards in response and Carlos Carmona works well with Denis to earn a corner. The set piece is whipped in and headed straight at Abbiati, however.
  • 29'
    Assist M'Baye Niang
  • 29'
    Goal Stephan El Shaarawy
GOAL!! Out of nowhere, AC Milan have struck the first blow of the game! Stephan El Shaarawy makes the most of Niang's clever flicked pass, turning into the Atalanta box and rifling the ball into the bottom left-hand corner!
  • 28'
Boateng with another dodgy pass, way ahead of the sprinting Constant so that it dribbles out for an Atalanta throw. I'm not meaning to pick on him or anything - he was brilliant against Bologna - but he needs to up his game, as he's looking out of sorts right now.
  • 26'
Niang fools Cigarini on the right to dribble past him. I'd go as far as to say he does him like a kipper! Super stuff from the Milan starlet.
  • 25'
Boateng wasted a pass just before that substitute, as opposed to a wasted shot. He needs to get his radar fixed if he is hoping to have a say on today's outcome.
  • 24'
    Substitution Michele Ferri Cristian Raimondi
  • 24'
Michele Ferri is injured and is forced to make way for Cristian Raimondi. Whose surname I will not deny that I like.
  • 23'
Constant finally marauds down the left for Milan, but his calmly-hit cross is blocked out for a corner.
  • 22'
Denis shoots but the Atalanta striker's shot takes a deflection which takes all the pace off the ball, allowing Abbiati to shuffle forwards and pick up the dribbling ball.
  • 21'
Mathieu Flamini has tried cutting inside from the right-centre on a few occasions now to no avail. Both sides are struggling to find that penetration that is needed to score...
  • 19'
Ignazio Abate puts it out safely down the right flank as Atalanta press down their left. The Milan full-back has been linked with a switch to Russia in this transfer window, but that doesn't seem to have affected his selection.
  • 17'
Kevin-Prince Boateng whips what can only be described as an appalling effort from 30 yards. A car outside the stadium was more in danger than the corner flag, never mind the goal!
  • 15'
Davide Brivio with a brilliant tackle to prevent El Shaarawy from counterattacking up the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia pitch!
  • 14'
The reverse of this fixture at San Siro at the start of the season finished 1-0 to today's hosts, with Luca Cigarini scoring the only goal in that game. He's playing again today, but will he have as big an impact? Let me know your thoughts on Twitter by tweeting @Miles_Chambers!
  • 12'
Denis forces Rossoneri goalkeeper Christian Abbiati into action after making it to the byeline before trying to slam the ball back past the shot-stopper.
  • 10'
A dew of the away supporters are whistling as Atalanta settle into a casual possession groove around the halfway line.
  • 9'
Milan left-back Kevin Constant was prolific down his flank last weekend, though he hasn't had much of a change to bombard forwards in Bergamo just yet.
  • 8'
We glimpse our first site of Nerazzurri striker German Denis, who is the club's top scorer this season. Will he add to his tally this afternoon?
  • 7'
Riccardo Montolivo tries to spray the ball forward for Pazzini but it's lofted harmlessly over his head. Atalanta didn't take long to take up their stance as playing on the back foot!
  • 6'
The second attempt at the corner ends in the ball being semi-cleared out wide and Milan starlet Niang being caught lingering in an offside position.
  • 5'
Corner to Milan. Whipped in from the right by Niang... but the referee orders it to be retaken after doing tussling inside the area.
  • 4'
Scrappy stuff at the start, but then again aren't most matches? Both sides striving for supremacy at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.
  • 2'
Milan are wearing all white today, while Atalanta are adorning their blue and black strip.
  • 1'
And we're off in this foggy Lombardy derby!
  • The teams are out, the referee is looking like he's been teleported from the 1990s and we're ready to go!
  • New Milan signing Cristian Zaccardo starts on the bench, as do the likes of Daniele Bonera, Mattia De Sciglio and Antonio Nocerino, who have been pushing for places in the Rossoneri lately.
  • Atalanta are yet to win in 2013, and have been on a dangerously slippery slope towards the relegation zone since the end of November. A victory at home in Bergamo today would be hugely uplifting for their confidence and their fans' confidence, no doubt.
  • I covered Milan's match last weekend when they put in an impressively fluid attacking performance in their win over Bologna. I'm expecting great things from the likes of Giampaolo Pazzini, Stephan El Shaarawy and M'Baye Niang once again!
  • What will the final score be in this Lombardy derby then? Get in touch on Twitter - www.twitter.com/Miles_Chambers - with you thoughts throughout the match, folk!
  • So, the hosts opt to field a 4-3-1-2 formation in a bid to turn around their torrid recent form. Massimiliano Allegri's side, on the other hand, will play in a 4-3-3 in an unchanged line-up from the XI which defeated Bologna 2-1 last weekend!
  • AC Milan XI: Abbiati; Abate, Mexes, Zapata, Constant; Flamini, Montolivo, Boateng; Niang, Pazzini, El Shaarawy
  • Atalanta XI: Consigli; Ferri, Stendardo, Canini, Brivio; Carmona, Cigarini, Biondini; Bonaventura; Parra, Denis.
  • Welcome to Goal.com's LIVE! coverage of Atalanta v AC Milan! The team line-ups will be with you fine folk momentarily...
