Di Maria comes off to Gutierrez, the midfielder who plays for Newcastle in England.

Borghi looks upset on the bench, and he has a reason to be. Chile are playing just awful, minus their star Alexis Sanchez.
Just over 20 minutes remaining, and Argentina make a change. Rinaudo comes on for Banega.
One of the finest performances by Messi in the Argentine shirt? After a speedy run into the box, the ball gets stolen. The attacker gets up after being tackled, stealing the ball and sending Higuain through with a perfect pass, but Higuain goes for goal and misses, failing to see Di Maria alone in front of goal.
All the momentum to Argentina as they nearly find their fifth as Di Maria sends Higuain through, but the unforgiving angle made it near impossible as the shot goes wide.

Very solid performance from Argentina in the first half. Chile are obviously not the same without Sanchez and Medel. 45 minutes remain for Borghi's men to get a decent result in Buenos Aires.
Yellow Card Ever Banega
That's it for the first half from the Monumental.
NOOO!!! SUAZO!!!! WHAT A MISS!!!!! The attacker beats three defenders in the box, and with a clear look on goal, is denied as Zabaleta's foot deflects the shot by the right post and out for a corner, one that Chile do nothing with.

The goal was Messi's fifth in qualifying, and his first ever against Chile.

The starting XI for both sides is coming shortly.
It's a chilly, rainy and quite nasty day here in Argentina. Terrible weather throughout the day has left the pitch at the Monumental in poor shape. The storm made things difficult in Uruguay's 4-2 win over Bolivia earlier. We shall see if the weather has any influence on this battle.
