The final whistle is blown and Anderlecht pick up their first win of the Champions League campaign. Stay on Goal.com for breaking match reports, player ratings and post-match features of tonight's games - I'm Livio Caferoglu and I wish you all a very pleasant evening. Ciao!
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Oleksandr Iakovenko
90' + 2'
Poor attempt from the Italian, who tries to fool the Belgians' defenders with a weak cross. A degree of confusion does ensue but it is eventually cleared.
90' + 1'
Witsel is cynically tripped as he carries the ball out, and Anderlecht are guilty of a similar offence a minute later - Yakovenko goes in hard with his studs on Alves. Free kick on the left side of the box, with Criscito behind it!
Yellow Card Bruno Alves
Alves is the latest to be booked following a vicious tackle on Kljestan. Biglia takes the free kick, but it is headed away by Hubocan. Zenit on the break now!
Yellow Card Roman Shirokov
The former Liverpool forward is at it again and does well in biding some time for Anderlecht, smacking a ball at a white shirt to win a corner with just two minutes of normal time left. Shirokov, meanwhile, is yellow carded for dissent.
Jovanovic shows some silky footwork on the edge of the box, and the Serb lays off Kanu, who strikes the ball first time but also high and wide. Worth a try though!
Biglia has been an absolute rock in the middle of the park for Anderlecht today. The Argentine had courted interest from bigger teams around Europe prior to tonight's match and it is no surprise, given his energetic display!
WHAT A CHANCE!!! Jovanovic drills a squared cross into the box, which is flicked on by Mbokani into Yakovenko's path with the goal at his mercy, but the substitute flashes his shot over the bar! Could have been game, set and match there.
Curious about Zenit's chances with 10 minutes to go? Here's a fun fact for you: They have netted goals in five of their last six games after the 70th minute.
A sweeping move from Zenit deserved to end in a goal, but it's been ruled offside! They string a series of intricate passes together around the edge of the box, but Danny makes his run towards goal marginally early.
A rare couple of handball instances on the bounce there, as Denisov and Mbokani are both penalised successively.
Shirokov is incensed, and rightly so, as his beautifully-timed sliding tackle on Biglia was perfectly legit. The match official has other ideas, though, it seems!
Lombaerts has had a difficult evening trying to patrol Mbokani, struggling to deal with another aerial challenge with the Congolese attacker, and is promptly replaced by Bruno Alves. The Belgian doesn't look best pleased, however!
Safari again gets the beating of Anyukov easily, as his blistering footwork allows him to manoeuvre into the area and cut back a cross which Biglia cannot quite make a connection with!
Mbokani's movement has been metronomic at times, and again he pulls a Zenit defender out of position as he tries to play a one-two with a colleague. Hubocan throws an arm out and is given a stern warning by the referee.
Zenit are beginning to take Anderlecht's thunder as they step up their attempts to find the equaliser. Danny's pinpoint cross meets the head of Kerzhakov, who runs off the shoulder of his marker, but he can only float the ball into Proto's gloves!
GREAT STOP!!! Zenit win a free kick, which is whipped towards the far post. Witsel is presented with the rebound on the edge of the box and hammers a shot which is wonderfully saved by Proto!
Yellow Card Behrang Safari
Anderlecht's attack is in sixes and sevens as Mbokani's attempt to send through a slide-rule pass is correctly flagged for offside. The Zenit defence played the high line to perfection.
Witsel does extremely well to win the ball near the corner flag and surge forward into space. His cross-field pass, however, is crucially headed to safety. Elsewhere, Mbokani is clattered to the ground by Criscito but nothing is given!
Witsel is surely walking on thin ice now as he concedes another foul, this time on Lucas Biglia. The midfielder is already on a yellow card!
Safari tries to test the Zenit defence with a cross into the middle of the box, but Proto comes out and gathers the ball comfortably.
We're back on for the second half guys and gals, and Semak is replaced by Danny for Zenit in the only substitution during the interval!
And that's that as far as the first half is concerned. Be sure to chime in with your thoughts and opinions via Twitter @livmc!
John van der Brom's outfit appear to be getting more and more narrow. However, right winger Bystrov, who came off the blocks so quickly in the opening stages, seems to have ghosted from the occasion, as he breaks another move down.
Luciano Spalletti looks on from the dugout with a finely-groomed tache. He's doing his bit for Movember then! Still, he seems to have made a slight tactical change, pressing his full-backs Criscito and Anyukov higher up the pitch.
Yellow Card Axel Witsel
Witsel is shown a yellow card for a powerful hack into the side of Kouyate. The decision to penalise the midfielder is greeted by a chorus of jeers - in reference to his spell at arch-rivals Standard Liege!
Criscito is given a warning for leaving Gillet in a heap on the deck. The Belgians restart quickly but Witsel concedes another foul in quick succession. However the sequence of play ends with Proto as Kerzhakov's ball across goal cannot reach a colleague.
Zenit's only real attempt of note so far is Lombaerts' deflected shot early on. The match is being played out very much akin to the initial fixture between the two sides this season, despite the Russians running away with a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, Bystrov is flagged offside for timing his run a fraction early.
Anderlecht's front players are looking threatening every time they push forward. This time it's Safari who takes on two players with ease down the left and breaks into the box, but he cannot pick a team-mate out with his low cross.
GOOD SAVE!! Malafeev is kept on his toes as Jovanovic unleashes a rifled attempt towards the bottom left corner. The former Russia goalkeeper counters the strike by going down superbly with a strong right hand.
Assist Sacha Kljestan
GOOOOOOAAAALLL!!! Anderlecht take the lead with a deft finish from Mbokani!! Kljestan threads through the striker, who lifts the ball delicately over the onrushing Malafeev!
Anderlecht are beginning to take control of the match as Zenit look disjointed in the opening spells. The fluidity of the home team's chemistry is a refreshing sight!
Promising start to proceedings as almost immediately at the other end as Bruno tees up Nuytinck with a cross. Unfortunately, the defender can't quite get his header on target.
Great play from Zenit as Bystrov leaves Kouyate a clean set of heels with a deft turn in the box and loops the ball into Semak's path, but the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder can only drag his volley wayward!
Gillet charges forward from the right and finds Bruno overlapping, and the youngster's driven cross needs to be headed away!
CLOSE!!! Straight from the corner, Lombaerts tries to poke the ball goalbound but Proto does well to go down and stop the ball from creeping over the line.
Anderlecht are keeping the ball well at present and slowly work their way up the pitch, but Mbokani fails to trap the ball. Zenit hit back quickly with a floated ball down the left and force through a corner.
Jovanovic already looks to be in the mood as he fizzes a dangerous low cross into the box! Hubocan then almost gifts Mbokani the chance to finish with his miscued clearance, but he gets the rub of the green.
The match is under way, with Anderlecht going from right-to-left and Zenit vice versa!
Right, five minutes until kick-off now and as my most loyal members of tonight's audience will know, send me all of your views and opinions on the match via Twitter @livmc! The best tweets WILL be posted, so be sure to hit me up! An easy way to boost your followers, perhaps?
All eyes will most likely be on the other game in the group - the table-topping clash between AC Milan and Malaga. Still, a Zenit victory here would definitely boost their flagging hopes of qualification for the knockout stages, while Anderlecht will surely be targeting a Europa League place in third spot.
Anderlecht are currently positioned bottom of Group C with just one point from three matches on the continent. Zenit, despite considerable investment over the summer, are only a place above their Belgian rivals, having lost two of their three matches in the pool.
And last but not least, the Russians: Malafeev, Anyukov, Criscito, Lombaerts, Hubocan, Shirokov, Semak, Denisov, Witsel, Bystrov, Kerzhakov.
The teams are in! First of all, here's how the hosts line up: Proto, Nuytinck, Kouyate, Safari, Biglia, Kljestan, Praet, Gillet, Jovanovic, Mbokani, Bruno.
