Had very little to do as Celtic's attackers failed to trouble him sufficiently. Held onto Stokes effort well and dealt with crosses admirably.
R. van Rhijn
Got forward excellently as Samaras failed to track back and mark the full-back. Superb cross almost handed de Jong opening goal. Good defensively too.
Kept Forrest quiet for much of the evening though was guilty of conceding too many fouls. Struggled to support the attacks and was one of two Ajax men to go into the book.
Barely needed in defence and contributed more in the attacking third. Early free-kick had Forster scrambling before late header hit the post.
Quiet in the first half before making two big contributions after the break. Well-timed interception denied Stokes before last ditch challenge halted Forrest as he looked to pull the trigger.
Solid in front of the defence as the likes of Commons struggled to get into the game.
Unable to unlock the Celtic defence after replacing Fischer. Eventually substituted late on as the hosts looked to close the game out.
The best player on the park and provided the spark that so many others failed to do. Always buzzing around the box, he deserved his goal, which he finished expertly.
Not his finest display but delicate touch was enough to put Schone in the clear for the winning goal. Replaced late on.
S. de Jong
After early header was well saved he disappeared for long periods. Was fortunate that others took on the mantle of creating chances.
Struggled to get into the game in a wide position. Showed some nice touches as he was allowed more space in the second half.
Saved well twice early on but looked shaky thereafter. Distribution was poor and was almost caught out by a Schone corner. Had no chance with the goal, however.
Looked to get forward at every opportunity but final ball barely troubled the centre-backs. Kept Sigthorsson quiet in defence.
Won plenty of tackles in midfield as Ajax struggled to create chances in the first half. Delivery from set-pieces was disappointing.
V. van Dijk
A rock at the back for the visitors as he won almost every header in his vicinity. Passing looked to set up attacks as he combined well with Mulgrew.
Unable to deal with both van Rhijn and and Schone as he was left isolated by Samaras. Did well to clear Schone corner off the line.
Strong in defence, though was caught out by Serero's deft flick in the lead up to the goal. Gave the ball away on occasion.
Looked well off the pace after returning from injury. Taken off far too late as he struggled to keep up with the play.
Anonymous in the first half as Celtic's midfield struggled to get him in the game. Better in the latter stages, though was twice denied by Veltman when in good positions.
Battled hard in the middle of the park but left much to be desired when in the final third. Should have passed when he fired over soon after Ajax took the lead.
Another who struggled to find their way into the game as he was largely isolated up front. Only chance was well held by Cillessen.
Certainly not the performance Celtic needed from their captain. Failed to track back in defence and lost the ball far too easily when he should have been holding it up.
Had little time to make an impact after late substitution.
Did plenty of running around in short period he was on the field. Wasn't given possession enough.
Unable to get on the ball enough to trouble his former side after replacing Stokes in the second half.
