Thanks a lot for joining us here at Goal.com for our LIVE commentary on tonight's game. Be sure to stick with us for all the post-match news and analysis, including match report and player ratings. But that is it from me, Tom Webber, now. Have a great evening.
Bayern join Freiburg, Mainz, who defeated Schalke earlier this evening, and Kickers Offenbach in the quarter-finals. The other participants will be decided in tomorrow's ties.
FT - Augsburg 0-2 Bayern: Goals from Gomez and Shaqiri guide Bayern into the quarter-finals despite playing the majority of the second half with just 10 men following Ribery's dismissal. Augsburg put up a good fight but lacked the clinical edge in front of goal to really test Neuer.

The final whistle goes at the SGL Arena!
90' + 1'
Neuer deals with a back pass competently despite being stood on his goal line there. That could have been embarrassing had it gone wrong.
We are into the final minute of normal time now. The crowd have quietened since that second goal and they now have just two minutes of additional time to get a consolation.
A chance to get a third comes to nothing for Bayern as Shaqiri plays the ball into Muller at the top of the box but the German is indecisive on how to progress and ends up doing nothing!
Assist Thomas Müller
Goal Xherdan Shaqiri
GOOOOAAALL!! BAYERN HAVE THE WINNER!! It is route-one football as a goal kick from Neuer is won out on the left by Muller. After battling past one defender he sends the ball into the area for an unmarked Shaqiri to place the ball past Manninger.
Another chance goes begging for the hosts! Werner charges to the byeline and cuts the ball back for Oehrl. He attempts to side-foot the ball into the far corner but is unable to find a path through a host of bodies.
Despite Bayern being a man down they look the more likely of these two sides to score! Augsburg are leaving themselves short at the back without actually offering too much up front. They have just a few minutes to find an equaliser.
GREAT SAVE BY MANNINGER!! The high defensive line from Augsburg as they look to push for an equaliser is cut apart by one simple Bayern pass. It sends Mandzukic through but 15 yards from goal he is unable to guide the ball past the keeper and into the corner. Good anticipation and positioning from the Austrian.
SHAQIRI HITS THE BAR!! Bayern counter and move the ball out to the Swiss on the left flank. He works some space before floating a cross to the back post. Manninger is forced to scramble back across the goal but breathes a sigh of relief as it drops on the bar and is cleared away by his defence.
Bayern are sitting deeper and deeper inside their half now, maybe they will try to close the game out. Ostrzolek is seeing a lot of the ball on the left and he rolls it back for Baier to strike but the midfielder's effort never looks to be heading on target and flies behind.
Manuel Neuer is turning on the time-wasting antics now with just over 15 minutes remaining. Bayern clearly not quite willing to shut up shop as Heynckes makes a straight swap of Kroos for Muller.
Augsburg win a free kick just outside the right side of the area after Phlip is brought down by Kroos. Can Werner supply a better delivery? The answer is no. He smashes it well over the bar.
Yellow Card Toni Kroos
Martinez has added a bit more drive to the Bayern midfield since coming on. He is quick to turn when in possession and has been using the ball well. Of course, his side may be hopeful of a more conservative approach in the closing minutes.
Bayern are keen to take the sting out of the game as they begin to play the ball about patiently in the deep areas. To their credit, Augsburg are yet to give up chasing, and with a man advantage they are likely to stop until the final whistle.
Yellow Card Sascha Mölders
What a chance! Schweinsteiger shows immense vision to spot Kroos on the far side of the pitch and then an equally impressive passing ability to pick him out. The attacking midfielder takes a touch but Ostrzolek comes across to block his effort with a great last-ditch challenge.
Deary me, when will they get one right! The free kick is rolled for Callsen-Bracker to strike but as the ref shirts close in he cannot find a route through to Neuer's goal. Disappointing.
This time the referee gives a handball and it is at the top of the Bayern box. Dante can perhaps consider himself lucky to still be on the pitch after connecting with that one despite already being booked.
Another free kick given away out wide by Bayern. Wener swings it in but yet again the delivery is poor and fails to find a white shirt. Weinzierl is not going to be happy with so many wasted set pieces from his team.
Javi Martinez and Mario Mandzukic enter the fray for the visitors. Good to see the former back so soon after reportedly temporarily loosing sight in one eye following a collision with Martin Stranzl last Friday.
Awful from Dante! The centre-back takes a wild swing to clear the ball away from danger but merely slices it behind him. He chases after it and goes down under a light challenge and fortunately for him, he wins the free kick.
A great flick on from Schweinsteiger almost puts Kroos' through on goal but Callsen-Bracker charges across to make a strong challenge. It's end-to-end stuff here in Bavaria.
Werner fires it in from the left and the Augsburg players claim for a handball from Dante. Weinzierl is livid on the touchline and he may well have a case as the ball did appear to connect with the Brazilian's forearm. The referee is the man who counts though and he awarded nothing.
Yellow Card Anatoliy Tymoshchuk
Now it is Tymoshchuk into the book. This has been an extremely scrappy start to the half. Let's hope it does not last too much longer.
Alaba is the next player to go in the book after conceding another needless foul down the left. Werner whips it in but the Augsburg players attacking the ball fail to stay onside. Intelligent defending from Heynckes' men.
Yellow Card David Alaba
Both parties were to blame there but the Frenchman seemed to overreact to Koo's overreaction! The Korean was upset at a kick from behind from Ribery and confronted him rather overzealously. The winger was not mucking about, though, and took a swipe at the Augsburg man.
Yellow Card Dante
Yellow Card Koo Ja-Cheol
Red Card Franck Ribéry
RED CARD FOR RIBERY!! A scuffle broke out on the far side with the Frenchman and Koo initiating it after some kind of disagreement. The players swarm over and the referee gives the Korean a yellow card but the Bayern man gets a harsher punishment. He looked to have raised his hand there.
And we are off once more, for the final 45 minutes.
Welcome back! The teams are due to resurface any moment for the second half at the SGL Arena.
The game is delicately poised, will Bayern go on to dominate or can Augsburg sneak back into it? Join me in 15 minutes to find out in the second half.
HALF TIME - Augsburg 0-1 Bayern: Die Roten lead through a Gomez strike, but it has not been the most comfortable of evenings for them. They may feel aggrieved not to be two ahead as Tymoshchuk's long-range effort on the stroke of half time looked to have crossed the line, but nothing was awarded.
The replays suggest that Tymoshchuk's effort was actually over the line! Could that prove costly come full time?
UNBELIEVABLE STRIKE!! So close for Tymoshchuk. A thunderous 35-yard shot from the Ukrainian smashes into the bar and bounces down before coming out into the goal mouth. Schweinsteiger's follow-up is palmed away and he commits a foul as he attempts to find the net from the rebound.
Jupp Heynckes' will probably be content with his side taking a single-goal advantage into the break. They have by no means totally dominated, but have certainly been the better side.
Bayern may be looking composed on the ball but Augsburg are still pressing early and are looking dangerous. However, you just sends that the visitors' more clinical finishers will help keep them in control.
Molders again the danger man for the hosts as gets a toe to Phlip's cross. He does not put quite enough pace on the effort though and Neuer is able to jump and pluck the ball out of the air. His movement has been decent this half though.
Augsburg are remaining positive but they are coming up against the most successful club in the DFB-Pokal. Bayer have accumulated a total of 15 title wins since their first in 1957. Impressive stuff.
Truly astonishing dribbling from Ribery as he glides down the left flank, jinking in between defenders and finding the narrowest of routes into the area. He clips in a cross but it is too high for Gomez and Shaqiri's ambitious volley at the back post ends up going out for a throw in.
Good hands from Neuer! Tymoshchuk gifts possession to the opposition with a wayward pass inside his own final third. Ottl picks it up and moves it on to Werner who wriggles between two red shirts and lashes the ball at goal. It flies straight at the keeper though who absorbs all the pace and holds onto it.
Augsburg could really regret those missed chances now. If Bayern do not sit back and rest on their laurels then they could be in for a long hour. But if they do ease off they will need to keep the pace up to try and find a way back into this one.
Assist Franck Ribéry
Goal M. Gómez
GOOAAALL!! Superb football from the visitors! Shaqiri brings the ball across the area from the left and plays a give-and go with Kroos. The Swiss passes out wide to Ribery on the left who beats his man before squaring for Gomez to finish with a simple tap-in.
Yellow Card Ronny Philp
A wasted opportunity for the hosts. A sloppy challenge from Alaba gives Augsburg the chance to send a cross into the area. Werner takes it but he fails to beat the first man and the resultant follow-up shot is slammed into a mass of red and white shirts.
What a miss! Not the greatest of efforts from Shaqiri as he smashes a shot high into the stands. Manninger has yet to be truly tested by die Roten. Still, there is plenty more time for that!
Bayern are trying to kill the momentum gained by the hosts by holding possession deep. However, once Alaba receives it he is yet again pickpocketed. The Austrian really needs to step it up.
So close for Augsburg! Oehrl does well to gain a yard on the right and sends the ball into the centre of the area. Molders gets the slightest of flicks at the near post and if anything that takes the ball away from Werner at the back post who fails to connect for a simple finish.
Simple save for Manninger as Ribery slaloms his way into the area before cutting inside onto his right boot. It is clear he wants to guide the ball past the keeper and into the far corner but he gets the direction all wrong and sends it straight into the Austrian's hands.
Another decent chance for Bayern as some tidy interplay between Ribery and Shaqiri creates space for the Swiss to turn and run at goal. The Augsburg defence fail to close him down but he drags his 20-yard shot wide of the post.
Alaba gets caught on the ball once more but fortunately for him possession is collected by Dante at the back.
JUST WIDE!! The ball rolls back from right to find Schweinsteiger 25 yards from goal in a central position. He side-foots an accurate shot towards the bottom corner but an awkward bobble diverts it narrowly wide of the post.
Another attempt from distance for the hosts but Molders' strike lacks the conviction of Koo's from just a moment ago. He does not catch it right and watches the ball roll shamefully wide of the goal.
Well, is that the sign of a potential upset tonight? Or is it just a brief flash in the pan before Bayern assume total control of the game? Send me your thoughts on Twitter @thwebber or drop them in the chat box on the Live Match Centre.
AUGSBURG RATTLE THE POST!! What a chance for the hosts! A long ball forward is intelligently cushioned into the path of Koo by Molders and the South Korean strikes it first time. His venomous effort takes a nick off of Dante but Neuer readjusts to get down and get a hand on it. The keeper did well but still needed the help of the post to see it behind for a corner.
A lucky break for Alaba! The Austrian is caught in possession on the right by Koo and the ball breaks to Molders. He was ready to race through on goal but the assistant referee signalled for offside. A debatable decision there!
Ostrzolek once again pushes forward from left back and tries to pick out Molders in the area. His delivery fails to find the lone striker and the Bayern defence mop up capably. Augsburg really need to make the most of chances like that and get support up to the forward.
Bayern look to have instantly settled as they knock the ball about comfortably in their own half. Augsburg will need to close the space quickly or they risk surrendering possession for large parts to Jupp Heynckes' men.
Bright start from the hosts as they put the ball into the area from the left but Molders is not in the right position to get on the end of it. Bayern counter and a lofted cross is rolled back to Kroos by Ribery, but the German thumps an effort into a wall of bodies.
We are under way at the SGL Arena.
The teams are just coming out of the tunnel and kick off should be just a few moments away!
It will certainly be a tough task for the hosts tonight, though. They have never managed to beat their Bavarian rivals before. Previous form suggests that that is unlikely to change tonight, but you can never tell with cup football!
For Bayern, Mario Gomez is restored to the starting line-up in place of Mario Mandzukic. Thomas Muller is also given a rest with Xherdan Shaqiri, who rescued a point for his side against Gladbach last Friday, beginning on the right.
In case you were wondering, that is indeed former Arsenal and Juventus favourite Alex Manninger in between the sticks for Augsburg tonight. An injury to first-choice keeper Mohamed Amsif means the Austrian makes his debut for the German club.
Subs: Starke, Contento, Rafinha, Martinez, Muller, Pizarro, Mandzukic.
Bayern (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Lahm, Van Buyten, Dante, Alaba; Tymoshchuk, Schweinsteiger; Shaqiri, Kroos, Ribery; Gomez.
Subs: Gelios, Sankoh, de Jong, Moravek, Musona, Petrzela, Bance.
Augsburg (4-2-3-1): Manninger; Philp, Klavan, Callsen-Bracker, Ostrzolek; Ottl, Baier; Oehrl, Koo, Werner; Molders.
Both team's are fielding strong line-ups tonight. Augsburg will be hoping to get a cup run going after their poor start to the Bundesliga campaign while Bayern will be eager to avenge last season's humiliating 5-2 defeat to Dortmund in the final. Full teams on the way...
