Player Ratings: Galatasaray 1-1 CFR Cluj

Goal.com gives the lowdown on how the players performed on a rain-soaked night that saw Yilmaz's equaliser help clinch Gala's first point of the campaign against 10-man Cluj

    Néstor Muslera Micol

Had little really to do other than pick the ball out of the net after Cluj's surprise opener. Will have been disappointed with the ease that Camora was able to whip in balls from the left before the Romanians went down to 10 men.

  • Dany Nounkeu

Dany Nounkeu Flop of the Match

An athletic performer as ever, but will be disappointed that Kapetanos beat him to Camora's cross for the opening goal which he inadvertently put in his own net. Prone to being caught out at the back and, to make matters worse, took on a terrible shot in the last minute.

  • Semih Kaya

Was left exposed as Gala started sluggishly. The visitors looked a threat early on and Bastos' pace and Kapetanos' presence kept him occupied in the first half. Saw his evening take a turn for the better when the visitors were reduced to 10 men.

  • Emmanuel Eboue

    Emmanuel Eboue

Another indifferent Champions League display from the former Arsenal man, who allowed Camora too much space in the first half and provided little attacking threat throughout. Subbed.

  • Hamit Altıntop

    Hamit Altıntop

At the fore of Gala's most dangerous moments in the short time he was on the field. Had a 25-yard effort well saved before another fizzing effort brought the best out of Felguieras. Will be disappointed his night was ended early by injury.

  • Selçuk İnan

    Selçuk İnan

Industrious display from the captain, but hardly inspirational. Knocked in some good set-pieces and committed Aguirregaray to earn the Cluj defender his second yellow. Sailed a free-kick over in the last 10 minutes from a dangerous position.

  • Felipe Melo

    Felipe Melo

A few lovely touches and plenty of industry, but bottom line was that he missed a first-half penalty that would have put Gala firmly in control of the encounter. Saw his effort saved, however, and was unable to inspire his side to victory.

  • Riera

    Riera

Bombed on down Cimbom's left-flank and showed his quality on occasion. Slipped in Amrabat early on, but saw the winger waste the opportunity. Whipped in a fantastic delivery just after the break, which none of his forwards anticipated.

  • Johan Elmander

    Johan Elmander

In the wars, as he put himself about up top for Gala. Got a nasty gash to the head after a clash with Piccolo before being stretchered off the pitch with what looked like a muscle injury.

  • Umut Bulut

    Umut Bulut

Screwed Gala's first speculative effort wide. Tried to win a penalty by diving first-half before wasting a clear chance in the second: missing his kick when he was picked out by Amrabat's searching cross.

  • Nordin Amrabat

    Nordin Amrabat

Wrongly opted not to take a first-time effort early on, but one of Gala's better performers. Always looked to get involved, though, and one of several dangerous crosses should really have been converted by Bulut second-half. Booked.

Came on and tried hard to create for the hosts. Sent one effort miles over the bar.

Added some guile as Gala pressed forward second half.

    Burak Yılmaz

Came to the rescue after replacing Altintop in the first-half. The rangy frontman was always trying to get on the end of things and succeeded in the second period when he nodded home Amrabat's cross for a crucial equaliser.

  • Mário Felgueiras

Mário Felgueiras Top of the Match

An inspired night. Great save from Altintop's 25-yard drive early on that was bettered by another stop from the same player on the half hour. Then saved Felipe Melo's penalty, but ruined a perfect display when he was at fault for Gala's equaliser.

  • Ivo Pinto
    2
    4
    2.50

    Ivo Pinto

Coped fairly well with the conditions and played his part in a competitive and committed defensive performance from the Romanians. Steady performance will have pleased coach Ioan Andone.

  • Laszlo Sepsi
    2
    4
    2.50

    Laszlo Sepsi

Flew into an early challenge to leave Filipe Melo limping and was never short of commitment in what were tough conditions. Breathed a sigh of relief when Melo missed his first-half penalty - as it was awarded after the Cluj defender's handball.

  • Felice Piccolo
    1
    5
    2.00

    Felice Piccolo

Rugged performance from the Italian centre-half who had a bruising encounter with Elmander before the Swede had to be substituted early through injury.

  • Cadu
    4
    2
    3.00

    Cadu

Steady performance from the captain in terrible conditions. Had to command a backs-to-the-wall effort after Aguirregaray saw red. Resisted wave after wave of Gala attacks until Yilmaz' equaliser.

  • M. Aguirregaray
    1
    8
    1.00

    M. Aguirregaray

Booked after a needless spat with Amrabat and made to pay for his fecklessness when he received a second yellow for hauling down Inan to leave his side a man short for over an hour.

  • Camora
    6
    1
    3.00

    Camora

His left foot was the Romanian side's most potent attacking threat and he had already whipped in a beauty of a cross before another gorgeous delivery led to the visitors taking the lead. Had to do his defensive work after his side lost a man.

  • Rafael Bastos
    6
    3
    3.00

    Rafael Bastos

Brazilian started sharp and looked a threat despite missing two very presentable chances in the first 15 minutes. Had his work cut out once Aguirregaray was dismissed, but stuck to his task and worked his socks off.

  • Nicolas Godemèche
    4
    3
    2.50

    Nicolas Godemèche

Battling performance from the Frenchman in testing conditions that made it impossible to judge a pass and treacherous to commit fully to a tackle. Worked hard in a disciplined showing.

  • Luís Alberto
    4
    3
    2.50

    Luís Alberto

Showed some attacking threat first half, but had to concentrate on his defensive duties after Aguirregaray's red card. Curbed his attacking instincts and put in a good shift for the Romanian surprise outfit. Tried one outrageous long-range effort.

  • Pantelis Kapetanos
    9
    2
    3.00

    Pantelis Kapetanos

Burly frontman led the line with aplomb and stuck his body on the line for the Romanians' cause. Got a huge slice of luck with his goal, as his original effort looked to be flying well wide before deflecting off Nounkeu.
