Player Ratings: Dynamo Kiev 0-2 Paris Saint-Germain

Goal.com was on hand to judge all the players who featured in what was a comfortable victory for Carlo Ancelotti's men on a chilly evening in Ukraine

By Robin Bairner

  • Maksym Koval

    Maksym Koval

The young goalkeeper could do little to prevent Lavezzi’s strike and enjoyed a strong match thereafter. He did well to hold a first-half effort from Ibrahimovic and his defence left him helpless with the second.

  • Danilo Silva
    6

    2.50

    Danilo Silva

Steady down the right-hand side, the full-back offered a solid platform for his team. Was not content simply to defend and pushed forward intelligently.

  • Betão

    2.50

    Betão

Was certainly hindered by his centre-back colleague Khacheridi, who had a tough night, yet he did not inspire confidence himself. The Dynamo defence looked flimsy through the middle when PSG really got going at it and he was booked for a rash foul on Ibrahimovic.

  • Taye Taiwo
    9
    3
    2.50

    Taye Taiwo

A generally steady performance from the ex-Marseille full-back, who is no favourite among the PSG support. Was guilty of being caught out of position as the visitors broke to score the opening goal, though this was not too bad a display by any means.

  • Yevhen Khacheridi
    5
    6
    1.50

    Yevhen Khacheridi

Looked a weak link in the middle of the Dynamo defence, and was lucky not to concede a penalty for a foul on Lavezzi. Headed a decent early chance well over the top and a nightmare evening was completed when his shoddy back-pass led to the second.

  • Miguel Veloso
    12

    Miguel Veloso

His set pieces were absolutely terrific and regularly stretched the PSG defensive line, with a couple of free kicks in particular worrying Sirigu. Really tried to drive his side on, particularly during the second half, but could not influence the game enough.

  • Denys Garmash
    4
    1
    2.50

    Denys Garmash

Should have put his side into the lead on 25 minutes, when he blazed a shot incredibly wide of an open goal. This seemed to set the tone for his night, as he would make a number of stray passes and never really get into a good rhythm thereafter.

  • Oleh Husyev
    4
    2
    2.50

    Oleh Husyev

The brightest player in the home side from open play, at least in the opening period, and he made several good offensive bursts, the best of which ended in a shot awkwardly saved by Sirigu. Shortly afterwards, he tested the Italian with a firm header. Faded after the break, though, before being replaced.

  • Haruna Abdulkarim Lukman
    9

    3.00

    Haruna Abdulkarim Lukman

The former Monaco man was deployed as the chief offensive midfielder through the centre and made several strong bursts when he was given room to drive into. Withdrawn midway through the second half after an effervescent showing.

  • Dudu
    11
    1
    3.50

    Dudu

Made his Champions League debut and gave a strong account of himself down the left-hand side of the Dynamo attack. Flashed a shot wide with half an hour played. Was a real threat throughout, and had a deflected shot incredibly saved in the second period.

  • B. Ideye
    7
    5
    2.50

    B. Ideye Flop of the Match

Enjoyed a spell with Sochaux in France, but found the PSG defence too tough to crack. Used his pace well when exploring the channels, but did not offer a direct threat on goal, despite a formidable scoring record for the Ukrainian club.

    Andriy Yarmolenko

Given the final quarter of the game, and added experience to his side.

  • Artem Milevsky

    3
    2.50

    Artem Milevsky

Brought on with 25 minutes remaining and had a positive influence on the game, though he headed wide in stoppage time.

  • Salvatore Sirigu
    35
    2
    3.50

    Salvatore Sirigu

Produced a miracle save just before the hour mark to keep out a wickedly deflected effort from Dudu. Also did well to deny Husyev in the first period, but was not as commanding from crosses as the PSG fans have grown accustomed to.

  • Thiago Silva
    48
    4
    3.50

    Thiago Silva

Read the game superbly, as always, and was the rock around which PSG built themselves. Ibrahimovic may grab all the headlines, but his former AC Milan team-mate continues to rarely put a foot wrong.

  • Alex
    29
    3
    3.50

    Alex

A steady performance from the ex-Chelsea centre-back, who timed his tackles effectively and dominated in the air. Passed up a glorious early opening, though, when he headed wide when unmarked deep inside the opposing box.

  • Maxwell
    25
    5
    3.00

    Maxwell

A typically sound showing from the Brazilian left-back, who has been particularly impressive in recent times. Carlo Ancelotti will have appreciated the discipline his Brazilian defender showed.

  • Gregory van der Wiel
    19
    14
    2.50

    Gregory van der Wiel

Has yet to really find his feet since moving to PSG, and once again looked somewhat unconvincing in the right-back slot. Gave away a needless corner in the early stages and was guilty of committing some needless fouls around the box.

  • Mohamed Lamine Sissoko
    19
    9
    2.50

    Mohamed Lamine Sissoko

Has struggled with injuries this season and did not look at his sharpest. Was still very willing to compete physically and put in several hard challenges. Booked for a characteristic foul, and taken off midway through the second half.

  • Nenê
    26
    5
    2.50

    Nenê

Wore a mask throughout to protect a cheekbone he fractured recently, but that did not prevent him fashioning the game’s first real chance with a fine cross from the left that was headed wide by Alex. Flitted in and out of matters without really making a telling contribution.

  • Blaise Matuidi
    24
    7
    3.00

    Blaise Matuidi

Another astute performance from the midfielder, who was the sole Frenchman in PSG’s starting XI. As usual, he covered a vast amount of ground and won a great number of challenges in the centre of the field, creating the second goal as a direct result of this.

  • Marco Verratti
    32
    4
    3.00

    Marco Verratti

Steady on the ball as one would expect, with one glaring exception in the first half when he presented the hosts a chance, but the young Italian midfielder remains naive defensively and was guilty of over exuberance at times in this regard. His booking for dissent shows he still has to mature.

  • Ezequiel Lavezzi
    65
    5
    4.00

Ezequiel Lavezzi Top of the Match

A busy and industrious performance from the attacker, who went into challenges with relish and pushed forward gamely, despite sometimes lacking his usual touch on the ball. Took his first goal, which was thoroughly deserved, beautifully; the second was purely routine.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    78
    14
    2.50

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Back in the team for the first time since his wonder goal for Sweden last week, and though he was sometimes a peripheral figure in the game, when he was involved he was inevitably exciting. His pass to create Lavezzi’s goal was of the very highest quality.

Substitutions

  • Sylvain Armand
    14

    Sylvain Armand

Given the closing stages of the match.

  • Clément Chantôme

Added energy to the midfield in the final quarter of the match.

  • Javier Pastore

    Javier Pastore

A three-minute appearance from the playmaker.
