90' + 4'
FULL-TIME, and a draw is perhaps the right result in this game. Schalke clawed their way back at the end of the first half and went level thanks to a Jefferson Farfan strike that was deflected home by Thomas Vermaelen. The second half wasn’t quite as good to watch as the first, but the Gunners should be happy with a point against a very good side in some intimidating surroundings.

90' + 3'
This game is winding down now. Both teams look happy with a point.
90' + 1'
There'll be an additional four minutes of stoppage time in this second half.
High ball in towards Huntelaar, but Mannone is there again to punch clear.
Schalke are keeping the ball just inside Arsenal's half but not really going anywhere, until they try a long ball and it falls harmlessly to Mannone.
Vermaelen is down for treatment after getting a bit tangled in a challenge.
Great chance for Huntelaar, who heads over from a Farfan cross. However, he was offside, so it wouldn't have counted anyway.
Final 10 minutes here, as both sides search for a crucial winning goal.
It's gone a little bit quiet out there at the moment as both sides have a few problems holding onto the ball.
Yellow Card Jones
Jermaine Jones is booked for a bad challenge on Vermaelen, as the American led with his arm.
What a waste, as Schalke come forward but then Howedes blasts a cross over the bar.
Chance! The ball comes through to Walcott off a Schalke defender, but his finish hits the post! The flag eventually goes up for offside, so it may not have counted, but what a chance.
It was all going so well for Arsenal, who pass the ball around beautifully. Then, the ball is set up for Cazorla, who blasts the ball high and wide after all that good play.
Oh dear. That could have been so much worse. The ball is chipped forwards and Per Mertesacker slips at the vital moment, but thankfully Holtby's pass is a poor one.
Assist Lewis Holtby
Goal J. Farfán
GOAL!!! Schalke are level!!! The cross comes in from the left, the ball comes to Farfan whose shot is deflected home by Vermaelen. The Germans have pulled this one back and are now looking very strong.
Mannone is again called into action with a shot from Afellay, but he holds on comfortably. The Italian has looked very good tonight.
Good save! Holtby finds an awful lot of space outside the box and lets fly with a shot that Mannone can only parry away with a couple of strong fists.
Yellow Card Lukas Podolski
Podolski comes forward on the left and is furious when Marco Hoger falls over and stays down for absolutely no reason, with the referee blowing his whistle with the Gunners in a good position. To make matters worse, Podolski is then booked for dissent.
Was that handball from Mikel Arteta on the line? Schalke say yes, the referee says no, as his arm was by his side as he deflected a shot away.
Afellay comes forward on the Schalke left, but there is Walcott of all people to avert the danger.
That was some superb control from Sagna, who nearly sets Walcott away, but the England man is offside.
Something of a scramble in the Arsenal penalty area there, but the Gunners manage to clear it away. Just.
Schalke force another corner, but Arsenal manage to clear it away.
Great save! A superb pass from Jermaine Jones finds Huntelaar in acres of space, but Mannone stays big and makes a good save to deny the Dutchman a second goal.
That was a pretty good chance there for Giroud. The cross comes in from the left and he tries a scissor kick of sorts, but puts it over the bar. He probably could have headed that one.
Here we go with the second half. Schalke get it started.
45' + 3'
HALF-TIME, and that goal for Schalke changes things a great deal. The Gunners went ahead through goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, but that late one from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could have put the cat among the pigeons. Otherwise, the away side have looked much better as Schalke started well but faded, with signs of a growing partnership between Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. The second half promises to be very interesting.

Goal Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
GOAL!! Schalke have pulled one back! Arsenal lose the ball in the middle, Lewis Holtby sends in a superb pass and there is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to apply the finish. That changes things.
We'll have two minutes of stoppage time in the first half.
Cazorla sends in a good free kick from the left and Lars Unnerstall is out to clear, albeit unconvincingly.
Yellow Card Christian Fuchs
Christian Fuchs has made one too many bad challenges and goes into the referee's book. He's furious as well.
Chance! Vermaelen slips at the vital second and Farfan is through. However, he puts his shot over the bar. That was a glorious opportunity for the home side.
Schalke are trying to build pressure, but there is Wilshere to get his body in the way and force a free kick for Arsenal.
A through ball is sent towards Jefferson Farfan, but Laurent Koscielny is calmness personified as he shepherds the ball out of play for a goal kick.
Slight delay here as Giroud is down injured and requires treatment.
Here come Schalke, but the energy of their play from the first 10 minutes sadly seems to be lacking. With Uchida off injured, they don't have as much pace on the right.
That was Giroud's first ever goal in the Champions League and could be a crucial one for Arsenal. Things look pretty rosy now.
Assist Lukas Podolski
Goal Olivier Giroud
GOAL!! It's 2-0 Arsenal! Podolski sends in a great cross and there with a flying header is Giroud, who buries the ball to double the away side's advantage. Superb finish from the Frenchman.
Yellow Card Joel Matip
Joel Matip picks up a yellow of his own for a bad tackle on Cazorla after he plays some good passes with Wilshere.
A great exchange of passes from Schalke nearly sets Afellay away, but Bacary Sagna is there to slide the ball clear.
Yellow Card Santi Cazorla
Yellow card there for Santi Cazorla who is guilty of a rash tackle on Uchida.
The Gunners are on fire now. Lukas Podolski comes forward and sends in a great cross from the left, but it's too high for Walcott. They look a different side now.
Goal Theo Walcott
GOAL!!! Arsenal are ahead! Roman Neustadter tries a suicidal back header, Olivier Giroud picks it up, the ball pinballs around and there is Walcott to apply the finish! Great start for the Gunners!
Better from Arsenal, as Jack Wilshere comes forward and forces a corner, then another one. Unfortunately no one can get a good touch and the home side clear.
Then, Uchida is through again past Vermaelen but his touch lets him down and the ball goes behind. That was a let-off for the Belgian.
Schalke already look ominous in the opening exchanges. It still feels as though Arsenal are feeling their way into this one.
Corner to Schalke and it's headed marginally over the bar by Benedikt Howedes. That was very close.
Ibrahim Afellay comes forward on the left and lets fly with a low shot that Vito Mannone can only parry with a strong hand.
Jack Wilshere looks good already as he breaks up play in Arsenal's penalty area and also seems to have his passing game in order.
The Gunners keep the ball for a little bit, then Theo Walcott is in some space in the box but it's quickly closed down and he's unable to jink his way through.
Uchida is already getting some joy down Schalke's right. His battle with Thomas Vermaelen will be crucial tonight.
Early chance there for Schalke, with Atsuto Uchida marauding forward from right-back but lifting a cross slightly too high for everyone in the middle.
We're off and underway. Arsenal kick off and the first half has begun.
The teams are coming out of the tunnel in Germany, with kick-off just moments away. Cue the music.
Schalke are unchanged from their defeat on Saturday to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, while the Gunners make two changes from the side that lost to Manchester United as Theo Walcott starts in the Champions League for the first time this season on the right of a front three. Laurent Koscielny comes in for Andre Santos, with Thomas Vermaelen switching to left-back.
Here’s how Arsenal are looking: Mannone, Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Arteta, Wilshere, Walcott, Cazorla, Podolski, Giroud. Subs: Shea, Andre Santos, Djourou, Coquelin, Arshavin, Jenkinson, Chamakh.
How are the teams looking? Well, here’s Schalke: Unnerstall, Uchida, Howedes, Matip, Fuchs, Jones, Neustadter, Farfan, Holtby, Afellay, Huntelaar. Subs: Hildebrand, Marica, Hoger, Papadopoulos, Moritz, Draxler, Kolasinac.
The Gunners have been struggling somewhat of late, with a great deal of struggles going on in the Premier League so far this season. They should be a little bit worried ahead of this game, as Schalke taught them a footballing lesson in the corresponding fixture a fortnight ago. A win tonight would really strengthen their position in Group B.
