Player Ratings: Dynamo Kiev 0-0 Porto

The Portuguese side maintained their unbeaten run in Champions League Group A with a goalless bore draw in Kiev which seals their place in the knockout stages

    Maksym Koval

Denied Martinez with a world class save down to his right-hand side after the Porto striker's powerful headed effort at goal. Anticipation was good too as he intercepted a number of balls into the box with competent catches.

  • Betão

    Betão

Did a solid job on Varela at right-back. The Porto man lacked a yard of pace tonight and he did not get beyond the Brazilian too many times. Due to his defensive responsibilities his attacking play was virtually non-existent.

  • Taras Mykhalyk

    Taras Mykhalyk

His passing was excellent at the back at times and picked out Husyev on the left wing with a number of driven balls across the field. Did not allow himself to be bullied by Martinez but did struggle with his movement at times.

  • Taye Taiwo

    Taye Taiwo

Made a fantastic interception in the first half when he showed brilliant determination and pace to put in a last-ditch challenge on Martinez when the Colombian looked poised to shoot. Not much to show going forward but solid performance.

    Yevhen Khacheridi

Was involved in an interesting duel with James Rodriguez throughout the evening and such had a hot and cold night. Held his own in the pace and strength department but struggled when the tricky Colombian cut inside.

  • Miguel Veloso

    Miguel Veloso

Criminally gave the ball away in very dangerous positions a few times in the match and was guilty of languishing in possession. For the large majority he was neat and tidy but did not pick out one pass of note and his delivery also wasn't up to much.

  • Ognjen Vukojevic

    Ognjen Vukojevic

Was the main catalyst for Kiev's intense pressing in the opening stages and did not allow the Porto midfield trio to settle for the first 20 minutes. However, as the game went on he was overrun and couldn't get time on the ball.

  • Oleh Husyev

    Oleh Husyev

Was guilty of being flagged offside a number of times when he was staring straight across the line. Did his best work when he cut inside and looked for incisive passes but he should have done more with the amount of ball that he had.

  • Andriy Yarmolenko

    Andriy Yarmolenko

A disciplined performance from the usually swashbuckling winger. Helped out Betao a lot at right-back and doubled up with his team-mate on the dangerous Varela. Will be frustrated at his lack of possession in the final third, though.

  • Artem Milevsky

Artem Milevsky Flop of the Match

His only real moment of note in the first period was earning a booking for a soft foul on Otamendi. Struggled to act as the link between midfield and attack for the hosts. Was substituted before the hour.

  • Marco Ruben

    Marco Ruben

Bad decision after bad decision tonight. Had the opportunity a couple of times to mount counterattacks but opted to play it safe inside. Did not give the Porto defence one single iota of trouble.

Came on up front but did not fair much better than his predecessors.

    Helton

Was a very solid performer tonight. Spotted danger a number of times and rushed from his goal to clear the ball away. Took the pressure of his defence regularly by claiming shots and crosses.

  • Danilo

    Danilo

Guilty of going asleep and letting Yarmolenko drift inside a few times but ultimately negated the threat of the Ukrainian well when he played on the left. Put in a couple of decent crosses into the box.

  • Eliaquim Mangala

    Eliaquim Mangala

Looked shaky a few times and his touch did not look certain for the majority of the match. Put his defence under pressure with a couple of miscued clearances.

  • Abdoulaye Ba

    2.50

    Abdoulaye Ba

Yarmolenko played on the right on the first half but mostly found himself in defensive areas, which left Ba with not a lot to do. When he was called into action he was dependable. Not much to offer going forward.

  • Nicolás Otamendi

Nicolás Otamendi Top of the Match

Showed a touch of class in a game seriously devoid of it. Intercepted a number of through passes and calmly played out the ball from the back. Was dominant in the air and did not give Marco Ruben a sniff.

  • Lucho González

    3.00

    Lucho González

Was neat and tidy as always in the first half but lacked intensity in his passing. This improved in the second half as he began his trademark bursting runs through the middle. Should have tested Koval with a lashed shot inside the box that went wide.

  • Joao Moutinho
    8

    2.50

    Joao Moutinho

Not the most effective performance from the usually reliable Portuguese. Much like Lucho, his passing was short and steady but his game lacked a killer pass through the middle. Did not provide enough ammunition for the attackers.

  • James Rodríguez
    11

    3.00

    James Rodríguez

Showed glimpses of his trademark dribbling and pace down each wing and tested Koval with a couple of long-range efforts. Put in a couple of gorgeous crosses into the both from the wider areas.

  • Steven Defour

    3.00

    Steven Defour

Struggled to deal with the pressure being put on him in the opening stages bu the Kiev midfield. Eventually grew into the match and starting to mount attacks from deeper positions better.

  • Jackson Martínez
    11
    4
    3.00

    Jackson Martínez

Found himself up against two on-form centre-backs. He was the lone striker and found himself isolated at times. Was unlucky not to score when his headed effort to the bottom corner was saved by Koval. Was unlucky tonight as he received very little service.

  • Silvestre Varela
    3
    9
    2.50

    Silvestre Varela

A terribly ineffectual night for the Portuguese. He saw the ball more than any other attacker but could not muster any meaningful dribble or cross into the box. Failed to provide Martinez with any decent service into the box.
