Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni will make a number of changes from the side who took a narrow 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan. Darren O'Dea, John O'Shea, Glenn Whelan, Keiren Westwood, Jon Walters and Robbie Keane all started that win but have since returned to their clubs.

This is likely to provide a number of players chances to impress Trapattoni including striking duo Kevin Doyle and Shane Long. Manchester United youngster Robbie Brady has been called into the squad and could also feature with Andy Keogh also expected to start.

As for Oman, Paul Le Guen is set to name a familiar face to fans of the Premier League with Ali Al-Habsi starting in goal.

Experienced trio Ahmed Hadi, Ahmed Mubarak and Fawzi Bashir are all poised to start in midfield, while Al-Ahli striker Al-Hosni will be looking to add to his 27 international goals.

The Wolves striker scored his side's crucial last-gasp winner at the weekend against Kazakhstan and will be hoping to do enough to establish himself in his country's starting line-up. His pace and movement make him hard to mark and he will be looking to add to his international goal tally.

The 28-year-old has scored a highly impressive 30 goals in his 107 international matches so far and is one Oman's most important players. He is likely to be key to their chances of reaching the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Prediction
Trapattoni's side will be looking for a commanding display after relying on a late comeback to grab three points in their win last week. With a World Cup qualification doubleheader coming up next month the Italian tactician will be hoping for more from his players. Both sides could get on the score-sheet but Ireland should run out comfortable winners.
