CATANIA 1-0 PESCARA
Catania gave their fans something to cheer about after they ran out easy 1-0 victors over Pescara in their last home game of the season on Saturday.
The winning goal came on 52 minutes when Alejandro Gomez nodded home Gonzalo Bergessio's cross at the far post to deservedly keep all three points at the Angelo Massimino.
It was little more than the Sicilians merited as the Delfini - guaranteed to finish rock bottom in the Serie A standings - offered next to no resistance at all bar Mattia Perin's constant shot-stopping.
CHIEVO 1-1 TORINO
Torino secured their top-flight status for another season after they came back from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw with already-safe Chievo on Sunday.
The Flying Donkeys broke the deadlock on 10 minutes through the prolific Cyril Thereau, who capitalised on Valerio Di Cesare's slip and fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
However, just nine minutes later, Dario Dainelli's trip on Angelo Ogbonna in the penalty area afforded Alessio Cerci the opportunity to send Christian Puggioni the wrong way and keep his side afloat.
UDINESE 2-1 ATALANTA
Udinese recorded a club-record seventh straight win on Sunday as they overcame Atalanta 2-1 at the Friuli to keep their Europa League fate in their own hands.
Yet it could have been all so different when Giuseppe De Luca netted the rebound from Luigi Giorgi's strike which Zeljko Brkic parried away on 10 minutes.
But on the cusp of half-time, Antonio Di Natale played a one-two with Allan before flicking the ball past Andrea Consigli with the outside of his boot to level the scores.
And Di Natale completed the turnaround shortly after the break - albeit with a slight hint of offside - as he swept up in the box for his 175th goal in Italy's top tier.
FIORENTINA 1-0 PALERMO
Fiorentina consigned Palermo to relegation on Sunday as their vital 1-0 success also kept up their flagging hopes of finishing in Serie A's third and final Champions League place.
Genoa's goalless draw with Inter meant that only a win would do for the Sicilians, but their former hero Luca Toni popped up towards the end of first half to tuck away Juan Cuadrado's cross after Borja Valero had played the Colombian in on goal.
The Viola will now hope AC Milan fail to beat Roma to retain any hope of featuring in Europe's elite club tournament next season, but Palermo, meanwhile, must now regroup ahead of their first Serie B campaign since 2003-04.
LAZIO 2-0 SAMPDORIA
Lazio seem to have turned a corner at a crucial time of the season after they cast aside Sampdoria 2-0 at the Olimpico to extend their unbeaten to run to three matches and stay on Udinese's trail in fifth spot.
Inside 10 minutes, the Biancocelesti took the lead from a corner as Stefan Radu's flick-on fell into the path of Miroslav Klose but it was Sergio Floccari who got the all-important touch to divert the ball past Sergio Romero.
The visitors then went down to 10 men in stoppage time following Renan's red card for dissenting towards the referee, and Antonio Candreva added insult to injury with a chipped Panenka-esque penalty with the last kick of the game.
NAPOLI 2-1 SIENA
Siena may have been relegated from Serie A by the virtue of Genoa's point against Inter, but they nonetheless fell to a heartbreaking 2-1 reverse at the hands of Napoli.
On 36 minutes, The Tuscans went ahead in spectacular fashion as Fabrizio Grillo marked his debut in the Italian top flight with a fine volley from a free kick which spun past Antonio Rosati.
The Partenopei, however, came back with a vengeance midway through the second half when Edinson Cavani netted yet again - this time from a free kick which rebounded to his feet.
And just as the Napoli fans were resigned to a share of the spoils, Marek Hamsik sealed the win in the third minute of injury time from a quick passing move involving Lorenzo Insigne and Goran Pandev.
PARMA 0-2 BOLOGNA
Bologna moved to within three points of matchday opponents Parma after they secured an impressive 2-0 win on their travels in the Emilia-Romagna derby on Sunday.
With just six minutes on the clock, a defensive lapse gifted Saphir Taider the chance to sneak in and poke the ball beyond Antonio Mirante for the opening goal at the Tardini.
And the Rossoblu rounded off the triumph - while further boosting their hopes of a top-half finish - on the hour mark when Davide Moscardelli beat the offside trap before unleashing an angled drive home.
