Elsewhere, Palermo scored with seconds remaining to deny Catania from bragging rights in the Derby di Sicilia while Genoa missed the chance to move out of the bottom three

GENOA 1-1 ATALANTA

Genoa's Serie A status remains on a knife edge after they could only record a 1-1 draw with Atalanta on Saturday.

The Grifone - who needed a win to jump out of the relegation places - took the lead inside six minutes when Antonio Floro Flores glanced home Matuzalem's floated free kick.

Moments later, however, a corner dropped to the feet of Cristiano Del Grosso who struck the ball low and hard over Sebastien Frey's line for a share of the spoils.

UDINESE 1-0 LAZIO

Antonio Di Natale marked his return to Udinese contention with a spectacular winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Lazio on Saturday to consign the Romans to a second straight Serie A defeat.

On 19 minutes, Gabriel Silva scooped up a cross for Zebrette captain Di Natale to hit on the volley in acrobatic fashion to keep his side firmly in the mix for a European finish this season.

Udinese now move level on points with Lazio - still suffering from a European hangover following their elimination at the hands of Fenerbahce - in the league standings.

NAPOLI 3-2 CAGLIARI

Napoli scored a last-gasp winner at the San Paolo to salvage a 3-2 success over Cagliari and remain in contention for the Serie A title.

It was the Sardinians, however, who made the breakthrough via a wonderstrike from Victor Ibarbo, but moments after the interval, Marek Hamsik's long-range effort brushed off Davide Astori's heel.

Twenty minutes later, the former AC Milan youngster emerged villainous again as he played Edinson Cavani
criminally onside before the Uruguayan struck home, although Marco Sau restored parity again soon after.

But inside stoppage time, Lorenzo Insigne came off the bench and unleashed an effort which bounced off Gabriele Perico and over goalkeeper Michel Agazzi to gift the Partenopei all three points.

SIENA 0-1 CHIEVO

Chievo ended a run of three matches without a win on Sunday after they nicked a precious 1-0 victory over Siena to all-but-preserve their top-flight distinction for another season.

The decisive goal came on the stroke of half-time when Flying Donkeys talisman Sergio Pellissier latched onto a Perparim Hetemaj through pass and coolly dispatched the finish past Gianluca Pegolo.

Nonetheless, the Tuscans - who were also left to rue a disallowed Massimo Paci header - stay one point clear of the relegation places despite their loss.

CATANIA 1-1 PALERMO

Palermo netted in the dying embers of the Derby di Sicilia to claim a 1-1 draw with Catania and keep within touching distance of safety in Serie A.

The hosts found the initiative on 65 minutes as Pablo Barrientos capitalised on a series of deflections from a cross that was sent in the box before steering home the finish.

But to the Rosanero's fortune, with the last kick of the match, Abel Hernandez's header dropped to the feet of a revitalised Josip Ilicic who slammed the ball past Mariano Andujar.

The Argentine goalkeeper was then given his marching orders for his part in a brawl that ensued soon after Palermo's dramatic late equaliser.

ROMA 1-1 PESCARA

Pescara halted their rotten run of eight consecutive defeats on Sunday thanks to a surprise stalemate with Coppa Italia finalists Roma.

Inside 14 minutes, Gianluca Caprari swooped to net the rebound from Emmanuel Cascione's shot which was originally parried away by Maarten Stekelenburg.

However, the Giallorossi - despite dropping to sixth - were good enough for a point when Daniele De Rossi's dragged effort turned into an assist for substitute Mattia Destro.

BOLOGNA 1-1 SAMPDORIA

With virtually nothing to play for, Bologna and Sampdoria cancelled eachother out at the Dall'Ara on Sunday.

The Rossoblu broke the deadlock on 24 minutes when Alberto Gilardino met Saphir Taider's cross, but on the hour mark, Gianluca Sansone dashed clear and fired home a low finish for a point a piece.

Both sides are separated by a single point in mid-table but needn't worry about falling into the relegation trap-door.

FIORENTINA 4-3 TORINO

Fiorentina survived a late Torino fightback to rescue a 4-3 victory at the death and maintain their hopes of a top-three finish this season.

On eight minutes, Juan Cuadrado continued his rich vein of form courtesy of a lobbed effort before a header from Alberto Aquilani and an Adem Ljajic free kick ensured the Viola went into half-time with a three-goal lead to protect.

However, Paulo Barreto pulled one back for the Granata via a tap-in after the restart, and both Mario Santana and Alessio Cerci - from another set-piece - exerted revenge against their former employers to stun the Tuscan faithful.

Yet with just four minutes left on the clock, Matias Fernandez and Mounir El Hamdaoui combined to release Romulo who rifled a shot onto the underside of the bar and into the back of the net.
