Serie A Round 27 Results: Fiorentina leave it late against Chievo as terrific Totti reaches another milestone

Elsewhere, Gian Piero Gasperini began his second spell in charge of Palermo with a goalless draw at Torino while it was case of the blues once more for Parma, Chievo and Pescara

Gian Piero Gasperini marked his second spell in charge of Palermo with a stalemate at Torino on Saturday - their fourth consecutive draw.

The former Genoa boss was recalled by the Rosanero a little over a month since his dismissal after his predecessor Alberto Malesani was axed for failing to improve the side's fortunes, but the managerial change appears to have not made the desired impact.

The hosts, meanwhile, will have felt aggrieved not to have come away with more than a point as Giuseppe Vives and Danilo D'Ambrosio missed gilt-edged opportunities at the far post, while Rolando Bianchi saw an attempt cannon off the post.

The result leaves Palermo in the relegation zone and five points from safety, but Torino climb to 11th.

Siena's mini-revival under Beppe Iachini seems to have have been put to bed after their 2-0 loss to Atalanta on Sunday was their second defeat on the bounce.

Inside just three minutes, the Orobici broke the deadlock through Giacomo Bonaventura who slammed home a piledriver from distance.

Bonaventura then grabbed his second of the game on the shade of an hour when the winger cut inside from the left flank and nestled the ball past Gianluca Pegolo.

Atalanta take a giant leap towards survival, with their win putting them nine points clear of the bottom three, but Siena stay five behind Genoa in 18th.

Cagliari were made to pay for Bologna's clinical finishing after they fell to a heavy 3-0 reverse at the Dall'Ara on Sunday.

On five minutes, Saphir Taider linked up beautifully with Alberto Gilardino before firing the ball over the line for the opening goal of the afternoon in Emilia-Romagna.

Just 13 minutes later, Alessandro Diamanti turned his marker before unleashing an effort from a tight angle to put the Rossoblu in a commanding position.

It got from bad to worse for the Sardinians midway through the second half as Francesco Pisano was shown a straight red card for an excessively high boot.

And in the first minute of injury time, Cristian Pasquato smashed a shot from some way out to wrap up a delightful Bolognese victory which pushes them up to 12th place in Serie A.

Marcelo Larrondo struck the winning goal on his debut as Fiorentina saw off Chievo.

Manuel Pasqual curled a delightful free kick in off the post to put the home side in front, before the Viola squandered a host of opportunities to double their advantage, with Stevan Jovetic particularly profligate.

It seemed they would be made to pay for their wasted chances when Isaac Cofie turned home Roberto Guana's cross following a quick counter-attack from Chievo, but Larrondo headed home at the back post on 78 minutes to seal three points.

Mauro Icardi condemned Parma to their fifth defeat in six matches as Sampdoria emerged victorious from a hard-fought encounter.

Andrea Coda had the ball in the net early on but was denied by the offside flag, before Jonathan Biabiany spurned a terrific chance for the visitors when he over-hit his lob when through on goal.

Icardi headed home from a flighted free kick just shy of the hour mark to take advantage of some nervy goalkeeping from Antonio Mirante, and though he was denied a second late on as Mirante blocked his effort from point-blank range, Sampdoria held on for the win.

The victory keeps the home side in 10th place, while Parma slip to 12th behind Bologna on goal difference.

Veteran striker Antonio Di Natale ended a six-game goal drought to give Udinese a win at Pescara.

After just eight minutes, the Italy international forced his way through the home defence following Luis Muriel's square pass to fire past Ivan Pelizzoli from close range. It was his 150th goal for Udinese.

Muriel smashed a shot off the base of the post after half and hour and Pelizzoli denied Marcosuel's header, but ultimately the one goal was enough to see the visitors close in on ninth-placed Catania and keep Pescara firmly in relegation trouble.

Francesco Totti moved joint-second in the all-time scorers list in Serie A as Roma triumphed 3-1 over Genoa at Stadio Olimpico.

Totti netted the first goal - and his 225th in Italy's top division - from the spot after Daniele De Rossi was brought down by Cesare Bovo, before Marco Borriello levelled against his old club with his own well-taken penalty.

Alessio Romagnoli headed the hosts back into the lead on his full debut in Serie A, flicking Totti's corner into the far corner in the final quarter of the match.

Totti was then involved in a scuffle with Juraj Kucka following a foul by the Slovakian near the Roma box, with both players picking up a yellow card - in Kucka's case, his second of the match.

Roma were never likely to squander the points with a man advantage, and in the closing moments, substitute Simone Perrotta sealed the victory when he smashed Totti's cross in off the bar from close range.
