Player Ratings: Inter 3-1 Chievo

Goal.com was on hand at San Siro to cast a critical eye over proceedings as Inter ran riot, dispatching their opponents easily, despite a good performance from Christian Puggioni

    Samir Handanoviç

Perhaps could have done better with Rigoni's first-half header, but otherwise had a solid game, in which he was rarely troubled, especially after the break.

  • Javier Zanetti
    148

    3.50

    Javier Zanetti

Full of energy and running despite his aging years, causing Chievo problems down the right flank. Aside from giving Jokic too much space to deliver crosses at times, he had a very impressive and energetic game.

  • Andrea Ranocchia

    3.50

    Andrea Ranocchia

Inter displayed great defensive frailty in the first half, but the 24-year-old made amends with a thumping header to give his side the lead. He rose highest to nod home a pinpoint Cassano delivery.

  • Juan Jesus
    110

    3.00

    Juan Jesus

Did well aerially, and generally went about his work in a no-nonsense fashion, as he was keen to put his foot through the ball whenever his side's situation was in doubt.

  • Yuto Nagatomo
    143

    3.50

    Yuto Nagatomo

Hard-working and full of running, similarly to Zanetti. Didn't give his opponent a moment of peace, as he constantly harassed and pestered those in possession.

  • Zdravko Kuzmanovic

    Zdravko Kuzmanovic

Sat in the centre of the park and dictated play well in the first half, as he gave Cambiasso some license to get forward. Gave the Inter midfielder some well-needed balance.

  • Esteban Cambiasso

    3.50

    Esteban Cambiasso

Did extremely well to pick out Milito for his goal, biding his time to pick the right pass. Generally shone out as the man of real quality in midfield, with his great distribution and range of passing. Unlucky not to get among the goals.

  • Walter Gargano
    130

    4.00

    Walter Gargano

Was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet in the first half, as he not only forced a good save out of Puggioni, but also struck the post from a free-kick.

  • Rodrigo Palacio
    66
    31
    3.00

    Rodrigo Palacio

Had a very quiet game, only really coming to the fore to fire an effort at goal which was dealt with well by Puggioni. Disappointing performance from the Argentine really, as he struggled to impose himself much in the game.

  • Diego Milito
    138

    Diego Milito

Only had one chance, but dispatched it lethally, thumping the ball home from eight yards. Although he wasn't in possession much, all that counted was his instinctive finish.

  • Antonio Cassano

    4.50

Antonio Cassano Top of the Match

Drove in a fantastic first time ball to convert Inter's first goal inside the opening two minutes, and also delivered the great cross for his side's second goal too.

  • Dejan Stankovic

    Dejan Stankovic

Received a very warm reception on his return from injury, but didn't have a great amount of time to affect the match. More importantly, he made it through his return to action unscathed.

  • Ezequiel Schelotto
    57
    28

    Ezequiel Schelotto

Received his debut, but didn't have many minutes to impose himself on the game.

  • Ricardo Álvarez

    Ricardo Álvarez

Almost got a wonderful assist with an intricate flick, and generally looked quite tidy in possession.

  • Christian Puggioni
    13
    6
    3.50

    Christian Puggioni

Chievo's stand-out performer. Despite making a poor save to allow Cassano to fire Inter ahead early on, the Italian shot stopper made a string of fantastic saves to keep the score at a respectable level for his side. Without him, it could have been a total rout.

  • Dario Dainelli
    1
    12
    2.00

Dario Dainelli Flop of the Match

Made a few useful interceptions but generally struggled to deal with the likes of Cassano peeling out wide and Cambiasso and Gargano driving through the centre of the field.

  • Marco Andreolli
    14
    3
    2.50

    Marco Andreolli

Struggled against Cassano, who wasn't as clinical as usual, as he regular embarrassed the Chievo defenders with clever flicks and tricks. Wouldn't have enjoyed playing against Cassano, who had the ball glued to his feet at times.

  • Bojan Jokic
    7
    6
    3.00

    Bojan Jokic

Put in some useful balls from the left flank, not least the one which Rigoni managed to head home. He caused Zanetti some problems with his pace, but generally was forced to stick to defensive duties.

  • Francesco Acerbi
    4
    9
    3.00

    Francesco Acerbi

Was unfortunate not to head home in the first half, but moments later couldn't beat Ranocchia to a header, as the 24-year-old Italian headed Inter back in front.

  • F. Seymour
    1
    9
    2.00

    F. Seymour

Worked hard throughout in central midfield, not giving up the task at hand until the final whistle. Struggled to really drive forward and affect the game in the second half.

  • Isaac Cofie
    3
    9
    2.00

    Isaac Cofie

Struggled against Nagatomo, who effectively shut Cofie out of the game. Failed to really get past the Japanese full-back, who constantly harried and harassed him.

  • Luca Rigoni
    3
    8
    3.50

    Luca Rigoni

Picked up an early yellow card for a dangerous challenge on Zanetti, but made up for his mistake moments later, by ghosting into the Inter area to nod home a Jokic cross. Led his team well from the midfield.

  • Perparim Hetemaj
    5
    7
    2.50

    Perparim Hetemaj

Always energetic and an outlet for the away side, but the Inter defence generally stood firm after conceding. Bright and lively, but didn't really impose himself in the offensive third too often.

  • Alberto Paloschi
    5
    10
    2.00

    Alberto Paloschi

Wasn't presented with any chances, as his service was either poor or swallowed up by Juan or Ranocchia. Worked hard for the team in the first half, but disappeared a little after the break.

  • Cyril Thereau
    6
    5
    2.00

    Cyril Thereau

Similarly to Hetemaj, he was bright and lively, but didn't have the quality or cutting edge to have a lasting impact on the game.

Substitutions

  • Nikos Spiropoulos
    9
    7
    2.50

    Nikos Spiropoulos

Looked composed in midfielder after coming on, and didn't really lose the ball often, distributing quite well.

  • Luciano
    4
    9
    2.50

    Luciano

Didn't really enjoy much success after coming on, similarly to how Cofie failed to run at Nagatomo too.
