Goal.com takes a look at the players on show at San Siro, as Diego Milito and Antonio Cassano gave the Nerazzurri their first home win of the season

    Samir Handanoviç

The Slovenia international could do nothing about the goal he conceded, and although he didn't keep a clean sheet, had a really good game. Despite not having a save of note to make, his positioning and catching from crosses was first rate.

  • Javier Adelmar Zanetti

    Javier Adelmar Zanetti

Solid as usual from the veteran. His runs forward were always well executed, and his crosses into the box were often dangerous. Manuel Pasqual got round him a few times but, apart from that, a solid performance.

  • Andrea Ranocchia
    126

    Andrea Ranocchia

Really blossoming as a centre-back. He coped well with the contrasting styles of Jovetic and Toni, and showed his composure on the ball when called upon.

  • Walter Adrian Samuel

    Walter Adrian Samuel

Pulled out of position for the Fiorentina goal, his legs may just be getting the better of him. Despite that, though, the 34-year-old used his experience to guide Juan Jesus and Ranocchia through the game, and a nice sliding challenge on Jovetic in the first half.

  • Juan

    Juan

The 21-year-old Brazilian added to his growing reputation with another superb performance. His positioning, strength, concentration and calmness on the ball were all on show here. He dealt well with Jovetic and Ljajic, and looks to have built up a strong partnership with Andrea Ranocchia already.

  • Yuto Nagatomo
    120

    Yuto Nagatomo

Again, another consistent display from the Japan international. He was workmanlike going forward, and did well up against Cuadrado at the back.

  • Coutinho
    155
    11
    3.00

    Coutinho

The 20-year-old forward was excellent. His movement and energy on the ball were superb, and he constantly looked a threat when running at the Fiorentina defence. The former Vasco da Gama man could perhaps work on timing his runs into the box, but other than that, it was a promising display from the youngster.

  • Esteban Matias Cambiasso

    Esteban Matias Cambiasso

The Argentina international showed why his place in the team should never really be in doubt. He coped well with the mercurial Borja Valero, and even got forward to cleverly let the ball run through his legs for Cassano's goal.

  • Walter Gargano
    88
    48

    Walter Gargano

Slightly underwhelming performace from the Uruguay international. He was overshadowed by his midfield team-mates, and got lost amongst the forest of players in the middle of the park. He did get forward well in the second half, but he'll have to improve if he hopes to keep his place in the starting XI.

  • Diego Alberto Milito

    Diego Alberto Milito

Strange night for the 33-year-old. Although he took his penalty well, the former Genoa man was not at his best in front of goal, and should have had at least two more. He missed a one-on-one in the first half, before striking straight at Viviano from close range in the second.

  • Antonio Cassano
    181

Antonio Cassano Top of the Match

Absolutely magnificent display from the Italy international. He was tireless in his running, clever with his passing, and clinical inside the area. Showed tonight why, on his day, the former Milan man can be one of the best attackers in Europe.

Substitutions

  • Ricardo Gabriel Álvarez
    118
    19

    Ricardo Gabriel Álvarez

Came on with 20 minutes to go, and looked extremely lively. His cross from the left should have been converted by Milito late on, and was always looking to move between the lines of the Viola defence.

  • Fredy Guarín
    64
    44

    Fredy Guarín

Replaced MIlito with 10 minutes to go, but made no impression.

  • Gaby Mudingayi
    80
    19

    Gaby Mudingayi

Came on with 12 minutes to go, and never really got involved in the game.

  • Emiliano Viviano

    3.00

    Emiliano Viviano

The man on loan from Palermo could really do nothing about any of the goals, and in fact stopped the scoreline becoming even greater, with his one-on-one save from Milito being a particular highlight.

  • Gonzalo Rodríguez
    5
    31
    2.00

Gonzalo Rodríguez Flop of the Match

The former Villarreal man earned himself a red card here, and that brought an end to what was already a painful night. He never got to grips with the movement of Coutinho and Cassano, and got frustrated as a result. Poor night for the Argentine defender.

  • Facundo Roncaglia
    16
    12
    3.00

    Facundo Roncaglia

As has come to be expected from the 25-year-old, he got forward well and fired in a few long-range shots. Defensively, though, the former Boca Juniors man was caught out by the sharp movement of Cassano and Coutinho, and let Milito slip out of his sight more times than is acceptable.

  • Manuel Pasqual
    15
    8
    3.00

    Manuel Pasqual

Much like his Colombian team-mate on the opposite side, Pasqual was good going forward, yet suspect in defence. On a number of occasions, Zanetti was left in acres of space on the right-hand side, whilst the 30-year-old was trying to get back in position.

  • Nenad Tomovic
    16
    14
    2.50

    Nenad Tomovic

Like his defensive partners, the Serbia international was left red-faced by the Inter forwards. His positioning and concentration were below-par, with Milito coming out on top in aerial battles too.

  • David Pizarro
    37
    10
    3.50

    David Pizarro

The former Roma man was the creative heart of Fiorentina. His vision and range of passing opened up the Nerazzurri defence on a number of occasions, and also provided an assist for Romulo's header.

  • Juan Guillermo Cuadrado
    29
    10
    3.00

    Juan Guillermo Cuadrado

The Colombia international certainly put the 'wing' into wing-back. He was tireless in getting forward, and put in a few nice crosses from the right. But as was his efforts in attack, the defensive side of his game was ultimately left wanting.

  • Borja Valero Iglesias
    19
    13
    3.00

    Borja Valero Iglesias

Was much improved in the second half, but the Spaniard was really underwhelming here. He was stifled by Gargano and Cambiasso, and never got involved in the game as a result.

  • Rômulo
    22
    8
    3.00

    Rômulo

Scored a nice header in the first half, and was always a threat with his late runs into the box. The former Cruzeiro man struggled to make his mark on the game late on, but it was overall a positive night for the Brazilian

  • Stevan Jovetic
    28
    19
    2.50

    Stevan Jovetic

The 22-year-old was largely ineffectual here. Although his movement was always good, Ranocchia and Juan Jesus dealt well with his runs, and as a result, the Montenegrin never had a notable shot on goal.

  • Adem Ljajic
    22
    23
    2.00

    Adem Ljajic

Came off at half time, but was one of Fiorentina's brightest players in attack during the first period. His inter-play with Jovetic was always intelligent, and perhaps, with better concentration, could have bagged a goal.

Substitutions

  • M. Fernández
    20
    14
    2.50

    M. Fernández

The Chile international came on at half time for Ljajic, and didn't make nearly the same impression as the young Serbian. His partnership with Jovetic never got going, and was nullified quite quickly by the Inter defenders.

  • Giulio Migliaccio
    6
    14

    Giulio Migliaccio

The 31-year-old replaced Borja Valero with 10 minutes to go, but never got involved in the game.

  • Luca Toni
    21
    15

    Luca Toni

The veteran striker was brought on with 25 minutes to go, and although he slightly unsettled the Nerazzurri backline initially, he was quickly put in his place by the home team's defence.
