Goal.com was on hand to cast a critical eye over events at Los Carmenes, where Lionel Messi's 300th and 301st goals Blaugrana goals saw his side come from behind to win

    Toño

He could have done a lot better to turn a Fabregas shot around the post, instead of into the path of Messi for the equaliser. Still, he made his fair share of saves to make up for it.

  • Allan Nyom
    12
    17
    3.00

    Allan Nyom

Did well as an attacking threat, and was difficult to pick up with his runs from deep positions. His combinations with Torje and Ighalo made Granada’s right flank an absolute nightmare for the Barca defence in the first half, but he faded after the break.

  • Mainz
    11
    14
    3.00

    Mainz

Stood tall at the centre of the home side’s defence, making many crucial tackles, sticking to the man on the ball, and using all his veteran know-how to make it hard for Barca to get a clear shot off.

  • Guilherme Siqueira
    16
    11
    3.50

    Guilherme Siqueira

Fortunate to remain on the pitch in the first half after receiving only a yellow for hauling down Pedro as the last defender. Was a solid presence in both attack and defence, shackling Pedro and drilling into the side netting late on.

  • Íñigo López
    13

    3.00

    Íñigo López

Did a solid job at the back, dealing with everything he was expected to, but was beaten by a few of Barca's more advanced combinations. Planted a late header straight into the arms of Valdes.

  • Mikel Rico
    12
    10
    3.00

    Mikel Rico

Very active in the first half to break down a few Barca moves, and showed quick thinking to spark his side on the counter in the same breath. He was found wanting a little in the second half when put under pressure though.

  • Gabriel Torje
    13
    12
    3.00

    Gabriel Torje

Not as dynamic as some of Granada's other attacking players, but he still kept the ball well and made himself available as a supporting option.

  • Recio
    11
    10
    3.00

    Recio

A standard midfield performance - worked hard, committed few errors, but never really stood out.

  • Carlos Aranda
    17
    10
    3.50

    Carlos Aranda

Threatened the defence with his speed and movement, and really was in tune with his team-mates. Very impressive in the first half, not so much after the break.

  • Nolito
    31
    17
    3.50

    Nolito

Every bit as enterprising as the likes of Ighalo on the opposite flank, and his willingness to run directly at the defence formed part of a potent, wing-based counterattacking unit for Granada. Saw an early shot saved, and did well to assist the opener.

  • Ighalo
    43
    10
    3.50

    Ighalo

Quite possibly the most influential of Granada’s effective attacking unit. Confidence coursed through his veins, as he provided plenty positive moments with his ability to beat the first man. Liked exceptionally with his teammates, and stroked home a crucial opener from close range.

Substitutions

  • Youssef El Arabi

    Youssef El Arabi

Rarely saw the ball in an attacking sense after his introduction.

  • Víctor Valdés
    145
    28
    3.00

    Víctor Valdés

Comfortable with his handling, and could do little about the home side's goal. Produced a timely save at the death to deny Granada.

  • Daniel Alves
    145
    29
    3.50

    Daniel Alves

Really impressed as an attacking outlet all game, often finding himself as the most advanced player on the field, and causing problems with his ability to get the ball into dangerous areas inside the box.

  • Piqué
    141
    17
    3.00

    Piqué

Once or twice he was found wanting when Granada broke at pace, but otherwise, he was generally solid. Had little to do for much of the second half.

  • Adriano
    87
    59
    3.00

    Adriano

Given a torrid time by Nyom, Ighalo, and basically every Granada player who fancied a run at the defence on his flank. Taken off before the end of the first half.

  • Cesc Fàbregas
    209
    24
    4.00

    Cesc Fàbregas

Seemed to have an almost telepathic understanding with Messi, as he combined with the Argentine to find space in the attacking third time and time again. It was his shot that was deflected into Messi's path for the opener.

  • Thiago Alcántara
    155
    38
    3.50

    Thiago Alcántara

His passing was a joy to watch, as he laid on a few great chances for his team-mates, particularly one for Messi in the first half.

  • Javier Mascherano
    131
    41
    3.50

    Javier Mascherano

Very mobile and alert at the back to chase down the Granada forward line both on and off the ball. Showed commitment all the way, and hardly put a foot wrong when defending.

  • Busquets
    151
    25
    3.50

    Busquets

A crucial presence in his own half of the field to repel the Granada threat on the counter, and snuffed out a few attacks before they had begun during the second half.

  • Alexis Sánchez
    84
    199
    2.50

Alexis Sánchez Flop of the Match

The Chilean's woeful run of form continued with another frustrating display up front. He almost seemed to be trying too hard, such was the unexplainable nature with which a series of moves broke down at his feet. Hauled off in the second half.

  • Messi
    487
    45
    4.50

    Messi Top of the Match

Simply on a different level to every other player on the pitch. The Argentine made it 301 goals and counting for the Blaugrana with a match-winning double - a close range rebound and a swerving free-kick - but for Tono in the hosts' goal, he could have had even more.

  • Pedro
    158
    42
    3.50

    Pedro

As ever, his movement opened up space for the more central players to work their magic. Desperately unlucky to see a cracking drive rebound off the inside of the post.

Substitutions

  • Jordi Alba
    157
    23
    3.00

    Jordi Alba

A much more solid defensive presence on the left flank than Adriano, and was encouraged to attack more in the second half.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján
    147
    29

    Andrés Iniesta Luján

Did not really have enough time to show what he could do, but still impressed with his footwork in tight areas.

  • Tello
    124
    45
    3.00

    Tello

As is his wont, Tello injected a fair pit of pace against tiring legs in his spell off the bench.
