    Iker Casillas

Precious little to do for the Madrid skipper who will rarely enjoy a quieter game.

  • Pepe

    Pepe

Much like his defensive partner Ramos, the Portuguese was a spectator for large periods in the game, but did the business when called upon. A straightforward outing for him.

  • Sergio Ramos
    96
    20
    3.00

    Sergio Ramos

Dealt comfortably with whatever Granada were able to muster in the air, and did not look like being beaten when the ball was on the deck. He did not always have lot to do, but was alert when called upon.

  • Marcelo
    106
    21
    3.00

    Marcelo

The Brazilian full back got forward numerous times, and provided some natural width when Ronaldo and Callejon opted to cut in from the flanks. He linked up well with the rest of the Madrid attack.

  • Arbeloa
    76
    27
    3.00

    Arbeloa

Given the slip by Floro Flores in the first half on one break, but otherwise was solid in his defensive duties. Showed an increased tendency to get forward in the second half as well.

  • Sami Khedira
    113
    25
    3.50

    Sami Khedira

Often got his body in the way of the Granada midfielders whenever they seemed set to enjoy a spell of possession and stuck to his task quietly, but effectively. Came close to scoring on one venture forward, and in truth, the hosts could have used a few more of those bursts from him.

  • Xabi Alonso
    99
    17
    3.50

    Xabi Alonso

The presence of fellow schemer Modric in a more advanced position meant that Alonso’s offensive contribution was slightly muted at times, but the midfielder was diligent in holding his position and tracking back on the occasional Granada break.

  • Luka Modric
    193
    47
    3.50

    Luka Modric

Made an encouraging start to the match as all of Madrid’s early promise ran through him, but slowly drifted to the periphery of proceedings as his vision and eagerness to get on the ball seemed to have deserted him.

  • C. Ronaldo
    225
    57

    C. Ronaldo Top of the Match

Once again the match winner for the capital side. Ronaldo, like his team, was not at his best, but crucially his killer instinct was as sharp as ever and he racked up his 150th strike in Madrid colours. His two goals were not of the highest quality, but they came at crucial spells in the match and proved the difference in the end.

  • Karim Benzema
    104
    39
    3.50

    Karim Benzema

Never really appeared to be in tune with his surroundings in the first half, as he often was robbed of possession deep inside the area. However, his movement off the ball improved drastically after the break and he was able to set up Higuain for the third with good play out wide.

  • José Callejón
    91
    48
    3.50

    José Callejón

Showcased some tidy passing and popped up across the attacking midfield line to good effect. A nifty disguised ball set up Ronaldo’s goal in the first half, but he did not last and was replaced by Di Maria for the second period.

Substitutions

  • Mesut Özil

    Mesut Özil

His quick feet and one-touch passing was a sore sight for the exhausted, 10-man visitors in the second half.

  • Ángel Di María
    132
    15
    3.50

    Ángel Di María

Provided a telling contribution after his arrival for the second half, with a well-timed pass playing in Ronaldo for Madrid’s second. Looked a dangerous customer in his time on the pitch.

  • Gonzalo Higuaín
    119
    22
    3.50

    Gonzalo Higuaín

Came on for hero of the night Ronaldo and provided a spark of his own, with a simple finish to make it 3-0. Went extremely close again with a late opening.

  • Toño
    9
    25
    2.50

    Toño

A shoddy piece of keeping at his near post allowed Ronaldo to open the scoring. He was brave otherwise though and not afraid to dive at the feet of Madrid’s attackers.

  • Allan Nyom
    4
    18
    2.00

    Allan Nyom

Made a positive start to the match, but as soon as his side were reduced to 10 men he was left exposed as Madrid raided down his flank time and again.

  • Guilherme Siqueira
    9
    13
    3.00

    Guilherme Siqueira

A sturdy and authoritative performance. He was often able to prevent Madrid from attacking down his side, though the rest of his defensive colleagues were less convincing.

  • Íñigo López
    4
    16
    2.00

    Íñigo López

He appeared to be on course for a great game at the back with some fantastic early shadowing of Benzema, but he simply could not cope with Madrid once his defensive partner Gomez was sent off.

  • Borja Gómez
    12
    30
    1.50

Borja Gómez Flop of the Match

Guilty of ball watching as he saw a Di Maria pass too late, allowing Ronaldo to steal in and score Madrid’s second. Picked up a yellow card for blocking off Khedira in the first half, and was deservedly shown a second for a clumsy barge into Ronaldo.

  • Mikel Rico
    7
    15
    2.50

    Mikel Rico

Had a difficult time of it in the middle of the park as Madrid simply had too much class into many positions for him to ever really get to grips with proceedings.

  • Fabián Orellana
    5
    11
    2.50

    Fabián Orellana

Was often the one leading the charge for Granada on the rare occasions when they broke in the Madrid half, but he suffered from some questionable decision making that saw a few attacks fizzle out.

  • Juanma Ortiz
    5
    15
    2.00

    Juanma Ortiz

Starved of the ball on the flanks and failed to impact on proceedings. Withdrawn in the second half after an ineffective showing.

  • Iriney
    6
    13
    2.50

    Iriney

His match was spent largely chasing shadows as the likes of Alonso and Khedira often had the better of him. Granada could have done with a bit more from the midfielder.

  • Youssef El Arabi
    8
    16
    2.00

    Youssef El Arabi

He simply did not have the time, space, or support to make any kind of impression on the match in an advanced midfield position. Forced deeper and deeper as the match wore on.

  • Antonio Floro Flores
    8
    14
    2.00

    Antonio Floro Flores

Drifted out to the flanks effectively when Granada looked to break. Had the beating of Arbeloa once or twice, but often lacked support.

Substitutions

  • Mainz
    3
    15
    2.00

    Mainz

Harried out of possession on more than one occasion and looked out of his depth.

  • Jaime Romero
    3
    13
    2.00

    Jaime Romero

Did not show much of anything in his time on the pitch.

  • Gabriel Torje
    5
    13
    2.00

    Gabriel Torje

One or two flashes of pace aside, his cameo off the bench was forgettable.
