Player Ratings: Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

Goal.com rates the talent on show at Signal Iduna Park as Marco Reus' stunning hat-trick steered the Bundesliga champions past Armin Veh's top-four hopefuls

    Roman Weidenfeller

Dealt well enough was crosses, but most of Frankfurt's chances were fired wide. The veteran keeper had a very quiet afternoon, all things told.

  • Neven Subotic

    Neven Subotic

Slotted back into defence as though he had never been injured. Defended well, and hit the bar with a volley after Frankfurt struggled to clear a corner.

  • Mats Hummels

    Mats Hummels

Put in an absolutely fantastic performance at the heart of defence. Set up the second goal with a lovely through ball, and was a rock at the back as Frankfurt searched for a route back into the match.

  • Lukasz Piszczek

    3.50

    Lukasz Piszczek

Got up and down the right well enough, but did not really exert his influence on the game. When BVB went down to 10, he curtailed his attacking instincts.

  • Marcel Schmelzer

    3.00

    Marcel Schmelzer

Made a couple of good blocks at the back, and was neat and tidy enough without shining as much as the likes of Hummels.

  • Sven Bender
    44

    3.50

    Sven Bender

Set up a chance for Reus with a fantastic interception within minutes, and was generally busy in midfield, helping his side control the game, despite being a man down.

  • Ilkay Gündogan
    96

    4.00

    Ilkay Gündogan

His presence in midfield was certainly missed last week. The Germany international ran the show in midfield, and his stamina came when BVB were reduced to 10 men.

  • Mario Götze

    4.00

    Mario Götze

May not have got his name on the scoresheet, but was certainly one of the stars of the show, setting up the first goal with a lovely flick, and the third with a fantastic show of strength and class.

  • Marco Reus

    Marco Reus

Certainly his best performance in a Dortmund shirt to far. Missed an early chance to put his side ahead, but made up for it brilliantly with two goals in 90 seconds. Added a third after the break, and his direct running and cunning passing was always a threat.

  • Jakub Blaszczykowski
    49
    11
    3.50

    Jakub Blaszczykowski

Not as impressive as his fellow attackers on the day. Could have had a couple of goals to his name, but skied two good chances, and was replaced on 65 minutes.

  • Julian Schieber
    25
    44
    1.50

    Julian Schieber

His sending off may have been slightly harsh, but there can be no masking the fact that he did nothing to enhance his chances of a regular starting spot. If Lewandowski does leave, BVB will have to go into the market.

Substitutions

  • Moritz Leitner

    Moritz Leitner

Given 10 minutes at the end, but barely touched the ball.

  • Nuri Sahin

    Nuri Sahin

    Brought on seconds before full-time.

  • Kevin Großkreutz

    Kevin Großkreutz

Came on for Kuba after 65 minutes, and was neat and tidy enough without truly shining.

  • Kevin Trapp
    16
    5
    3.00

    Kevin Trapp

Made a couple of decent saves to deny Reus and Gotze, but his side were outclassed and he could have done little to stop any of the goals.

  • Carlos Zambrano
    6
    9
    2.50

    Carlos Zambrano

Struggled to deal with Reus and Gotze's movement and passing throughout. Will be glad to see the back of this game.

  • Bastian Oczipka
    7
    6
    3.00

    Bastian Oczipka

Did a decent job of keeping Kuba quiet throughout, but perhaps did not do enough for Frankfurt going forward.

  • Anderson
    8
    6
    2.00

    Anderson

Made a great block to deny a certain goal from Subotic, but should have done far better with the first goal, losing track of Reus completely, and seemed off the pace all night.

  • Sebastian Jung
    15
    6
    2.50

    Sebastian Jung

One of his side's better players. Got down the right well, and his crossing set up a couple of chances. Almost netted a late consolation with a ferocious effort, too.

  • Takashi Inui
    13
    10
    2.50

    Takashi Inui

The Japanese winger can feel just as aggrieved as Schieber to be sent off, but had a poor game throughout. Sent an effort from a decent position high and wide.

  • Alexander Meier
    7
    9
    2.00

    Alexander Meier

One of the stars of Frankfurt's extraordinary season, he did little to trouble Dortmund. Almost completely anonymous throughout.

  • Stefan Aigner
    5
    13
    1.50

    Stefan Aigner

Should have really done more to threaten BVB down the wings, but cut an anonymous figure throughout.

  • Sebastian Rode
    12
    8
    2.50

    Sebastian Rode

Linked heavily with a move to Signal Iduna Park in January, his only noteworthy contribution was missing a good chance. Overrun in midfield by Bender and Gundogan.

  • Pirmin Schwegler
    9
    6
    3.00

    Pirmin Schwegler

Worked very hard in the centre of the park, hassling and chasing Gundogan and Bender, but BVB were ultimately better.

  • Srdjan Lakic
    9
    8
    3.00

    Srdjan Lakic

Worked hard throughout, but missed two chances to get his side back into the lead, including a second-half volley which he should have buried.

Substitutions

  • Stefano Celozzi

    7

    Stefano Celozzi

Barely had a sniff of the ball during his 10-minute cameo.

  • Karim Matmour

    8

    Karim Matmour

His influence was not felt during his 12 minutes on the pitch.

  • Olivier Occean
    4
    11
    2.00

    Olivier Occean

Tried his best to assert himself after coming off the bench, but could not put his physicality to good use.
