    Ron-Robert Zieler

Did well to deny Reus after just 15 seconds but could do nothing about Lewandowski's strike. Other than that he had very little to do, but he did provide a sure pair of hands when the ball was played into the area.

  • Karim Haggui

    Karim Haggui

Read the game well until he decided to step up and win the ball. He failed to get to it and left a gaping hole for Piszczek to create Lewandowski's goal. He struggled to deal with the Polish striker's physical nature.

  • Mario Eggimann

    3.00

    Mario Eggimann

Looked solid in the air for the most part but found it difficult to cope when turning and running onto the balls in behind. Unlucky to see his 55th minute strike ruled out because of a foul in the area.

  • Steven Cherundolo

Steven Cherundolo Flop of the Match

Did not get forward to help his team as much as Mirko Slomka would have liked as he was forced to sit back and limit the impact of Schmelzer's forward runs. He failed to do that and provided little resistance.

  • Sergio da Silva Pinto
    0
    3
    2.50

    Sergio da Silva Pinto

Struggled to get near the ball in the middle of the park as BVB played some wonderful, intricate football. He made a couple of good challenges but was overrun for the majority of the game.

  • Szabolcs Huszti

    2.50

    Szabolcs Huszti

Did not see an awful lot of the ball throughout the 90 minutes. His main contributions were a couple of direct, determined runs to try and catch the visitors on the counterattack. Lacked creativity from the left flank.

  • Lars Stindl
    3

    3.00

    Lars Stindl

Put in a combative display in midfield and moved about well to make himself open for the ball. He showed great desire to push on and aid his side in the final third. However, he struggled to track the runners as BVB came the other way.

  • Konstantin Rausch

    3.00

    Konstantin Rausch

Was played out of position at left-back and struggled to cope with Piszczek's adventurous runs. He was dragged out of position in the build up to the Dortmund goal and put it on a plate for Diouf when he finally got forward, only for the striker to miss.

  • Artur Sobiech
    13
    1
    2.50

    Artur Sobiech

Forced a fantastic save from Weidenfeller early on with a brilliant strike from 20 yards after five minutes. His influence dropped off in the second-half as Hannover found themselves under pressure for large periods.

  • Didier Ya Konan
    7
    1
    3.00

    Didier Ya Konan

Was guilty of drifting into the middle of the pitch and leaving space for Schmelzer to push forward. Only denied a goal by a superb Piszczek clearance in first-half stoppage time but improvised a great assist for Diouf at the death.

  • Jan Schlaudraff
    6
    0
    3.00

    Jan Schlaudraff

Showed some moments of real class on the ball. His touch and control were superb but he should have scored in the 30th minute, opting to shoot with the outside of his foot instead of opting for a more orthodox finish.

Substitutions

  • Hiroki Sakai

    Hiroki Sakai

Brought on in place of Cherundolo in the 81st minute and failed to impact the match.

  • Mohammed Abdellaoue

    Mohammed Abdellaoue

Replaced Pinto in the 77th minute and helped increase the pressure on Dortmund in the closing stages by adding another body in the final third.

  • Mame Biram Diouf

    3.50

    Mame Biram Diouf

Came on for Sobiech in the 67th minute and missed an absolute sitter 10 minutes later. He came up trumps in the closing stages though as he slotted home from a lofted ball in the area.

  • Roman Weidenfeller
    30
    2
    4.50

Roman Weidenfeller Top of the Match

Made two brilliant first-half saves, denying both Sobiech and Schlaudraff from getting the hosts on the scoresheet. Dealt with high balls into the area well and reacted superbly to stop Piszczek from diverting into his own net after the restart, to round off a fantastic performance.

  • Neven Subotic
    15
    5
    3.50

    Neven Subotic

Seemed to be a bit casual at times, making mistakes which increased his workload. Put in a great block in the 18th minute but the lack of organisation meant they were opened up more than Jurgen Klopp would have liked.

  • Mats Hummels
    13
    8
    3.50

    Mats Hummels

Closed the play well and was not beaten when faced one-on-one. Used the ball well until he gave it away after 30 minutes but recovered to deny Sobiech a tap in. Withdrawn at half-time after picking up a knock.

  • Lukasz Piszczek
    37
    3
    4.00

    Lukasz Piszczek

Rampaged forward to devastating effect and showed great vision to set up Lewandowski, while also keeping the scores level with a heroic goal-line clearance. Rattled the post with a thunderous strike in the second-half.

  • Marcel Schmelzer
    12
    6
    3.00

    Marcel Schmelzer

A competent display from the left-back as he showed real quality and consistency with his delivery. Did not attack as much as Piszczek on the other flank but this helped keep the side a bit tighter.

  • Sebastian Kehl
    14
    4
    3.50

    Sebastian Kehl

Was fortunate not to go in the book in the first-half after a series of reckless challenges in the centre of the park. Nevertheless, he did help his side win back possession whenever they lost it.

  • Sven Bender
    16
    6
    3.50

    Sven Bender

Did well to link the defence to attack throughout, ensuring that BVB's best players had the ball. Used his strength extremely well in midfield but was perhaps guilty of leaving his side vulnerable to the counterattack with a lack of cover.

  • Mario Götze
    38
    11
    4.00

    Mario Götze

Performed extremely well in behind the striker, always making himself available for the ball and driving at the Hannover defence with great conviction. His passing was top drawer and had a hand in many of BVB's best moments.

  • Jakub Blaszczykowski
    34
    3
    4.00

    Jakub Blaszczykowski

Drifted across the front four brilliantly in the first-half, getting into some great positions. He saw two shots sail narrowly wide of the goal before being withdrawn in the 39th minute after picking up an injury.

  • Robert Lewandowski
    33
    7
    3.50

    Robert Lewandowski

Dropped off the play and linked it up neatly by using his strength to protect the ball. He netted just his second goal of the season with a simple tap in in the 26th minute but was always a threat.

  • Marco Reus
    17
    13
    3.50

    Marco Reus

Looked very lively early on and forced Zieler into his first save with a good header after just 15 seconds. He failed to really get involved in the action from then on with a wayward free kick his only other contribution.

Substitutions

  • Felipe Santana
    8
    3
    3.50

    Felipe Santana

Came on for Hummels at half-time and settled into the game well. Made a vital near-post clearance early in the first-half to keep Hannover at bay.

  • Moritz Leitner
    11
    6

    Moritz Leitner

Was brought on for Bender in the final 15 minutes and looked extremely composed on the ball. He got forward to support the attackers well and kept the game flowing.

  • Kevin Großkreutz
    5
    15
    3.00

    Kevin Großkreutz

Replaced Blaszczykowski in the first-half but failed to match the quality of the Pole. He was relatively quiet in the second period and could have done more to get back and aid Schmelzer.
