  Did well to deny Reus after just 15 seconds but could do nothing about Lewandowski's strike. Other than that he had very little to do, but he did provide a sure pair of hands when the ball was played into the area.

  Read the game well until he decided to step up and win the ball. He failed to get to it and left a gaping hole for Piszczek to create Lewandowski's goal. He struggled to deal with the Polish striker's physical nature.

  Looked solid in the air for the most part but found it difficult to cope when turning and running onto the balls in behind. Unlucky to see his 55th minute strike ruled out because of a foul in the area.

  Did not get forward to help his team as much as Mirko Slomka would have liked as he was forced to sit back and limit the impact of Schmelzer's forward runs. He failed to do that and provided little resistance.

  Did not see an awful lot of the ball throughout the 90 minutes. His main contributions were a couple of direct, determined runs to try and catch the visitors on the counterattack. Lacked creativity from the left flank.

  Put in a combative display in midfield and moved about well to make himself open for the ball. He showed great desire to push on and aid his side in the final third. However, he struggled to track the runners as BVB came the other way.

  Was played out of position at left-back and struggled to cope with Piszczek's adventurous runs. He was dragged out of position in the build up to the Dortmund goal and put it on a plate for Diouf when he finally got forward, only for the striker to miss.

  Forced a fantastic save from Weidenfeller early on with a brilliant strike from 20 yards after five minutes. His influence dropped off in the second-half as Hannover found themselves under pressure for large periods.

  Was guilty of drifting into the middle of the pitch and leaving space for Schmelzer to push forward. Only denied a goal by a superb Piszczek clearance in first-half stoppage time but improvised a great assist for Diouf at the death.

  Made two brilliant first-half saves, denying both Sobiech and Schlaudraff from getting the hosts on the scoresheet. Dealt with high balls into the area well and reacted superbly to stop Piszczek from diverting into his own net after the restart, to round off a fantastic performance.

  Seemed to be a bit casual at times, making mistakes which increased his workload. Put in a great block in the 18th minute but the lack of organisation meant they were opened up more than Jurgen Klopp would have liked.

  Rampaged forward to devastating effect and showed great vision to set up Lewandowski, while also keeping the scores level with a heroic goal-line clearance. Rattled the post with a thunderous strike in the second-half.
