After a less-than-entertaining first period, Joe Hart saved Frank Lampard's penalty with goals from Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez then giving City all three points at home
Had virtually nothing to do in the first half but his game came alive after the break. Foolish to give away a penalty for a foul on Ba but saved Lampard's spot kick brilliantly.

Pablo Zabaleta
Got forward well but made a few poor tackles on Hazard and then earned a yellow for a rash one on Cole. Saw a powerful volley cleared by Cahill.

Gael Clichy
Tried to get forward and give City width as Silva tucked inside. Made some good tackles, too, and was calm at the back.

Kolo Toure
Won numerous headers at the back. Booked. Let Ba get the wrong side of him before the Chelsea penalty.

Matija Nastasic
Comfortable at the back against Ba & Co. Would have had his first City goal if it wasn't for a fine Cech save, but probably should have beaten the keeper.

James Milner
Typical hard-working display on the right flank, where he linked up with Zabaleta well but failed to stretch Chelsea enough. A neat one-two with Aguero set-up the right-back for a good chance too. Involved in the build-up to Toure's opener.

Javi García
A quiet game for the Spaniard who was not really troubled at the back and allowed the more creative midfielders to bomb forward.

Jack Rodwell
Didn't have much to do defensively as City dominated but did pick up a yellow card. Headed over when unmarked, forced Cech into a good save with a long-range drive and then headed straight at the keeper from the resulting corner. Replaced just before the hour.

David Silva
Set up a good chance with Aguero and caused problems with some dangerous deliveries. Came inside too much when there was space on the wing, though. Got the assist for Toure's goal.

Top of the Match
Certainly makes a difference for City. Had an early effort saved as he linked up midfield to attack by finding space in front of the Chelsea defence. Broke the deadlock with a fine finish into the far corner.

Sergio Agüero
Threatened with a couple of early winding runs but made the wrong decision by trying to round Cech when he should have shot. Created a good chance for Zabaleta with some brilliant movement. Should have scored when put through one-on-one after the break.

Carlos Tévez
Replaced Rodwell as Mancini went for the win. It paid off as City took the lead soon after, before the Argentine added a second with a fantastic strike.
Good display. Denied Toure early on and then kept Nastasic's header out with a fantastic save. Tipped Rodwell's long-range effort over and then stayed calm to hold on to his header. Quick off his line when he needed to be. No chance for either goal.

Branislav Ivanovic
Lost Nastasic for the defender's early headed chance and dallied on the ball at the back twice allowing City to almost get in. Again lost his man as Aguero waltzed past him to create a chance. Didn't charge down Tevez quickly enough for the second goal.

Ashley Cole
Made his 300th appearance for the club and, while he didn't do anything wrong, didn't offer as much going forward.

David Luiz
Poor pass out from the back led to a great chance for Aguero. Did make some important interceptions but at times was a liability. Fired over with a wild strike late on, summarising Chelsea's frustrating afternoon.

Gary Cahill
Made a number of important clearances and headed Zabaleta's volley away from goal. Denied Aguero with a brilliant recovery tackle but lost the forward moments later but was let off as the Argentine missed. Also partly at fault for the goal and then became sloppy afterwards.

Ramires
Picked up a booking for a clumsy foul on Toure and didn't offer anything threatening going forward, wasting one great position with a heavy touch. Sometimes failed to track back enough.

John Obi Mikel
Dropped in to cover Luiz when the defender went missing but at times allowed Toure to find too much space. Let Toure walk past him inside his own area before the goal. Sacrificed for Torres as Benitez when for the win in the final ten minutes.

Flop of the Match
Failed to take control of the game as he can do and unable to offer his normal bursting runs as City dominated. Then uncharacteristically missed from the spot when presented with the penalty chance. Brought off shortly after City's goal.
