Player Ratings: Tottenham 1-1 Norwich

A late Robert Snodgrass strike earned Chris Hughton's men a point at White Hart Lane in an impressive performance that asked further questions of Andre Villas-Boas

    Brad Friedel

A strong performance by the Spurs goalkeeper who must surely be fearing for his place following the arrival of Hugo Lloris. Made a number of important stops, notably from Johnson late on to preserve a point for his side. The highlight was his reflex save from Snodgrass in the first half, flinging his body the other way to keep the scores level. Could do little about the close-range strike for the goal.

    Jan Vertonghen

Sprayed one lovely long pass to Lennon but followed up with a couple of wayward balls that conceded possession cheaply. Did superbly with a clearing header inside the six yard box in the first half.

  • William Gallas

    William Gallas

Tried to play the ball out of the back and a good forward pass on the 34th minute started one of Spurs' better attacks. Combined well with Friedel to prevent a tap-in for Jackson after the American had saved well. Made a rash challenge on Jackson on the edge of the box that led to a dangerous Norwich free-kick.

    Kyle Walker

Touch was loose and his defending left a bit to be desired in the opening stages. In one of his rare forays forward his cross was easily claimed by Ruddy. Looked to be injured late on as he crumpled into a heap but hobbled on.

  • Benoit Assou-Ekotto

    Benoit Assou-Ekotto

A loose pass early on led to a recovery foul on Snodgrass, giving Norwich a chance with a wide free-kick. Found room in the box early in the second half to cross for Defoe but will not be happy with his one-on-one defending against Snodgrass as the Scot got the better of him on more than one occasion. Lucky not to concede a penalty as he tugged away at Morison's shirt.

  • Aaron Lennon

    Aaron Lennon

Had a chance on his left foot but was hesitant to shoot and his pull-back was not collected by Sigurdsson.Got at Garrido again but his options in the middle were limited and his pull-back was easily cleared.

  • Gareth Bale

    Gareth Bale

Found it hard to get into the game but had Spurs' first shot on target, drilling at goal from 20 yards. Ruddy parried it away well though. Fired another shot marginally wide in the second half but overall was disappointing. Not involved enough.

  • Gylfi Sigurdsson

    Gylfi Sigurdsson

Had the first chance of the game, curling just over from the edge of the box. Later sent in a teasing cross that was just cleared by Bassong. Tried to receive the ball in forward positions but seemed to hide in the box - or at least struggle to find space for Lennon's crosses. But a kind rebound gave him a chance one minute into the second half and he struck a well-hit volley into Ruddy's arms. Replaced by Adebayor on the 56th minute.

  • Jake Livermore

    Jake Livermore

Couple of loose passes in midfield put his team under pressure in the early stages. Survived the cull at half-time. Lost the ball in a dangerous area and rather impetuously dragged Holt down off the ball.

  • Sandro

    Sandro

Crunched into Johnson early on to make his first tackle of the game before committing a series of fouls as Spurs looked to grab a foothold in the game. Managed to test Ruddy with a decent shot on the half hour. However, he hit one of the poorest shots you will see in the Premier League this year on the 37th minute as it sailed into the away fans. He was withdrawn at half-time for Dembele.

  • Jermain Defoe

    Jermain Defoe

Created his own chance as he shimmied onto his left-foot on the edge of the box before firing a low shot just wide of Ruddy's goal. Won a free-kick right on the edge of the box just before the hour but his shot from the set-piece deflected off the wall and out for a corner. Linked up well with Dembele and played the pass that set the Belgian up for the opening goal. Worked hard all game and was replaced with 10 minutes to go.

Tom Huddlestone Flop of the Match

Came on for Defoe with 10 minutes to play and saw the team concede immediately. Followed it up with a late lunge on Morison that perhaps a touch harshly led to a red card.

  • Mousa Dembélé

    Mousa Dembélé

Came on for Sandro at half-time and was immediately involved in midfield, receiving the ball in tight spaces. Scored a brilliant debut goal as he tricked his way from his right-foot onto his left before firing low and hard past Ruddy and into the far corner from the edge of the box.

  • Emmanuel Adebayor

    Emmanuel Adebayor

On for Sigurdsson on the 56th minute but proved very ineffective in his half-hour. Still not match fit.

  • John Ruddy

    John Ruddy

Swept up well to prevent Bale latching onto an Assou-Ekotto through ball in the 14th minute. Made Bale's shot look tame as he leaped to his left to parry away. Followed up with a solid catch from Sandro. Dealt well with Sigurdsson's volley, catching neatly on his line but could do nothing with Dembele's well-struck shot.

  • Russell Martin

    Russell Martin

Hit the crossbar with a close-range header from a wide free-kick inside the first 10 minutes. Did well to keep a late chance alive, heading the ball back into the box ahead of the equaliser.

  • S. Bassong

    S. Bassong

Just got a toe on a Sigurdsson cross to poke the ball away from the awaiting Bale. Kept Defoe relatively quiet throughout and looks to be building a good partnership with Barnett.

  • Javier Garrido

    Javier Garrido

Marshalled Lennon relatively well but in battles of pace he found himself in trouble. That said, over the course of the game he was composed and dependable. Looks an astute signing.

  • Leon Barnett

    Leon Barnett

Cleared well from a Bale cross, conceding a corner as Spurs pressure mounted. Got too tight to Defoe on the hour, committing a foul just on the edge of the box but will be pleased with his performance on the whole.

  • Bradley Johnson

    Bradley Johnson

Had a great effort from the edge of the box that sailed just over the bar and started well, winning a number of tackles. Dovetailed well with Howson and almost won the game in the final stages with a shot parried by Friedel.

  • Robert Snodgrass

Robert Snodgrass Top of the Match

Caused problems from the right and delivered an excellent deep cross that put Friedel in trouble. Met Pilkington's cross just before half-time and must have thought he had scored, only to see Friedel make a fine save. Knocked a free-kick wide from a dangerous position on the edge of the box. Found his way through two challenges on the hour and teed up Pilkington inside the box. Capped an impressive game with an excellent goal, guiding the ball into the bottom corner from Holt's knockdown.

  • Jonny Howson

    Jonny Howson

Delivered a peach of a free-kick to Martin, who hit the bar with a header. Worked hard all game and was part of a diligent and hard-working Norwich performance.

    Anthony Pilkington

Worked hard off the left and gave Walker problems in the first half. Played a wonderful, deep cross for Snodgrass just before half-time. Was on hand to meet Snodgrass's pull-back but saw his shot turned away by Friedel.

  • Grant Holt

    Grant Holt

Looked to drop into midfield and help out his team when needed and proved a handful for Gallas and Vertonghen. Should have done better with a header from eight yards in the second half, nodding over the bar. Claimed an assist after nodding inside to Snodgrass for the equaliser.

  • K. Jackson

    K. Jackson

Had space to drive at the Spurs goal on the counterattack but slowed his pace before eventually deciding to have a go, shooting well wide of the far post. Closed Livermore down well, preventing Spurs from building in midfield. Almost bundled the ball in after Friedel's parry from Snodgrass's header but Gallas just denied him. Was replaced by Morison on the 73rd minute.

Substitutions

    Steve Morison

Came on for Jackson late on and perhaps should have won a penalty as he tangled with Assou-Ekotto in the box. Didn't but proved to be a thorn in Spurs' side. Was fouled by Huddlestone on the halfway line which resulted in a red card for the Spurs midfielder.
