The Falcons of Jediane progressed to the last eight of the competition after a narrow 1-0 loss to Cote d'Ivoire, before a 2-2 draw with Angola and a 2-1 win against Burkina Faso in the final game, allowing them to place second in Group B. Zambia have reached this stage thanks to an impressive unbeaten record which saw them top Group A with a 2-1 win over Senegal and 1-0 victory against co-hosts Equatorial Guinea, while drawing 2-2 with Libya along the way.
The winner of this encounter knows that they will play the victor of the other quarter-final that sees Tunisia clash with Ghana. The semi-final certainly seems like it will be a tough game for either of these sides, but they will first need to focus on this match and defeating their opponent to progress to the final four.
Sudan are at full strength for this match, and they will be using a very similar side to the one that earned them three priceless points against Burkina Faso in their last match.
Zambia have sacked midfielder Clifford Mulenga from their Afcon squad for breaking camp rules, the southern African FA announced on Tuesday. The Bloemfontein Celtic player is reported to have broken a curfew with three other unnamed players after the Chipolopolo’s win over Equatorial Guinea on Sunday. The trio, according to FA officials, immediately showed remorse and were pardoned, however, the 24-year-old refused to accept culpability, and he will therefore be unavailable for this match.

His ability in front of goal has been proven already thus far, and his two goals in their last game against Burkina Faso will have given him confidence.
Sudan has proven themselves a worthy adversary at this competition, but Zambia are in great form under a talented coach, and they play fantastic team football.
