    José Pinto Colorado

Given another chance to impress as Barcelona's season reaches a close. The second choice keeper had little to do all night, and could do nothing to stop Rondon's glancing header in the first half.

  • Daniel Alves
    84
    15
    3.00

    Daniel Alves

Bombed on when he could during the first half, even releasing a shot after just 35 seconds. The Brazilian drifted in and out of the game as his side tended to attack through the middle rather than down his right-hand side.

  • Carles Puyol
    120
    11
    3.50

    Carles Puyol

Scored the game's first goal, tucking the ball home ahead of Martin Demichelis after Iniesta crossed from the right. Read the game brilliantly all night, picking the ball off Rondon on more than one occasion and ensuring Pinto enjoyed a fairly relaxed evening in goal. Replaced by Bartra with 20 minutes to play.

  • Adriano
    71
    25
    3.00

    Adriano

Showed composure on the ball and discipline in his positioning but will have been kicking himself at failing to stop Jesus Gamez from crossing from the right for Rondon's goal in the first half.

  • Cesc Fàbregas

    Cesc Fàbregas

The Spanish international was a bit hit and miss this evening, failing to exert much influence on the game, as his team-mate Iniesta shone alongside him. Carelessly drifted into an offside position when attempting to latch on to a Dani Alves cross from deep as Barcelona went in search of a third goal.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján

Andrés Iniesta Luján Top of the Match

The ethereal midfielder was in brilliant form as he set up two goals and won a penalty. He grabbed the assist for Puyol's opener with a well-drilled pass across the six-yard box before then winning a penalty in the 34th minute after being brought down by Jesus Gamez. In the second half he then supplied the well-weighted pass to set Messi up for his hat-trick on 63 minutes. Substituted for Afellay on 75 minutes.

  • Javier Mascherano

    Javier Mascherano

The Argentine continues to impress in a defensive role, and was alert to the danger of Rondon and Cazorla throughout, putting in some fine challenges and interceptions.

  • Seydou Keita
    94
    11
    3.00

    Seydou Keita

Mixed some fine tackling with some intelligent passing, particularly in the 39th minute when he tackled Rondon superbly and set Iniesta away with a quick pass up-field that nearly resulted in a goal.

  • Messi
    449
    63
    4.00

    Messi

Broke Gerd Muller's record of 67 goals in a single season with his eighth hat-trick of the season this evening. Two of the goals came from the penalty spot, while the third was a well-taken finish after being played in by Andres Iniesta. A clinical performance from the Argentine.

  • Pedro
    103
    18
    2.50

    Pedro

Started brightly but faded as the game wore on. Gave the stand-in left-back Eliseu a fairly torrid time in the opening exchanges when attacking down the right-hand side.

  • Cuenca
    76
    22
    2.50

    Cuenca

Quiet, to the point of being almost silent. The youngster was tidy enough in possession but failed to exert any real influence on the game and was lucky to last the full 90 minutes.

Substitutions

  • Bartra
    94
    9
    2.50

    Bartra

The youngster replaced Carlos Puyol on 67 minutes and looked calm and composed on the ball as Barca eased to victory.

  • Ibrahim Afellay
    111
    9
    2.50

    Ibrahim Afellay

Brought on with 15 minutes remaining and stretched the tiring Malaga defence with his pace and trickery.

  • Tello
    68
    21
    2.50

    Tello

Had little chance to make an impact after replacing Pedro with just minutes left in the game.

  • Carlos Kameni
    7
    14
    2.50

    Carlos Kameni

Could do little about Puyol's opening goal, as Demichelis allowed the Barca captain to nip in front of him. Made a decent save from a long-range Adriano strike midway through the first half, before being beaten three times by Messi, twice from the penalty spot.

  • Jesús Gámez
    4
    15
    2.50

    Jesús Gámez

Supplied the superb cross for Rondon's equalising goal on 25 minutes. Then undid his good work by giving away a penalty 10 minutes later for a foul on Iniesta, although replays suggested the foul may have occurred outside the area. Tried to get forward when possible but was often pinned back by Barca's attackers.

  • Martín Demichelis
    16
    33
    2.50

Martín Demichelis Flop of the Match

Very nearly scored an own goal when he forced his own keeper into making a save in the opening minutes. This was perhaps a sign of things to come, as he was then at fault for Puyol's opener and was exposed by Messi and Iniesta's pace and skill all game.

  • Eliseu
    2
    13
    2.50

    Eliseu

Chosen ahead of Monreal at left-back, and was shown up on a number of occasions by the likes of Pedro and Messi.

  • Sergio Sánchez
    3
    10
    2.50

    Sergio Sánchez

Second best to Barcelona's attacking talents throughout, although he did win a number of aerial battles from set pieces.

  • Camacho
    5
    7
    2.50

    Camacho

Got about his business quietly, and with little fuss. Spent much of the game chasing Iniesta's shadow as the Barcelona player dominated the midfield area.

  • Santi Cazorla
    11
    9
    2.00

    Santi Cazorla

Proved troublesome for the Barcelona defence before being subbed off in the second half, winning a series of free-kicks in dangerous positions throughout the match, including the set piece that Duda crashed against the post in the 10th minute.

  • Duda
    9
    7
    3.00

    Duda

A mixed performance from the midfielder. He was denied by the upright in the 10th minute with a curling free-kick before having a goal-bound shot from 10 yards blocked by Puyol late in the first half. Gave away the second penalty of the evening on 58 minutes after bundling through the back of Messi.

  • Diego Buonanotte
    7
    6
    2.00

    Diego Buonanotte

The spritely attacking midfielder flickered in and out of the game as Malaga played a lot of the match without being in possession of the ball. Wasted a decent chance when he shot over in space early in the second half. Replaced by Seba Fernandez on the hour mark.

  • Rondón
    14
    5
    3.00

    Rondón

Dived ahead of Carlos Puyol brilliantly to nod Jesus Gamez's cross past Pinto and equalise for the visitors after 25 minutes, but did little else of note during the match. Was replaced by van Nistelrooy after an hour.

  • Portillo
    4
    7
    2.50

    Portillo

Neat and tidy on the ball. Looked to get forward whenever possible as Malaga were restricted to breaking on the counter.

Substitutions

  • Recio
    4
    6
    2.50

    Recio

Introduced with 20 minutes left to play but failed to leave an impression on the game as Barcelona ran out comfortable winners.

  • Ruud Van Nistelrooy
    16
    11
    2.50

    Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Replaced Rondon on the hour mark and very nearly scored with his first touch, flicking Gamez's enticing cross just over Pinto's crossbar. Struggled alone upfront as Malaga chased the game.

  • Sebastián Fernández Miglierina
    7
    8
    2.00

    Sebastián Fernández Miglierina

Brought on with half an hour to play but had little impact as by that time the game was effectively lost for his side.
