    Jefferson

Earning his second cap the goalkeeper dealt with everything that was thrown at him comfortably. In what was a good performance his saves from Fernandez and Viatri kept a clean sheet that contributed to his team's victory.

  • Dedé

    Dedé

Dede also goes by the name 'The Rock' and it is easy to see why. He did not put a foot wrong during the 90 minutes and was as solid as ever.

  • Danilo

    Danilo

Showed the ability to get forward that has recently earned him a move to Portuguese champions Porto. He won a free kick in the first half with an overlapping run and looked more stable at the back than in the previous match.

  • Réver

    Réver

The tall defender had a good game. Despite some early communication issues with Cortes early on, his challenge on Pillud in the first half was crucial and helped nip any Argentine attacks in the bud.

  • Cortez

    Cortez

It was a tale of two halves for the Botafogo wing back. In the first half we looked the weak link in Brazil's defence. After the break his relentless attacking was integral to his side's win. He played a part in both goals to more than redeem his display in the early stages.

  • Ralf

    Ralf

Playing deeper in midfield, Ralf helped disrupt the Argentine momentum on a couple of occasions. This helped his side keep possession and continue to look for a goal.

  • Ronaldinho

    Ronaldinho

The former FIFA World Player of the Year began the game in a much deeper role than expected and pulled the strings with some delightful passes. His set pieces were not up to scratch however which let the popular playmaker down.

  • Rômulo

    Rômulo

The midfielder has been a revelation in this year's Brasileiro and had a solid if unspectacular debut. He kept the game flowing with a consistent level of passing.

  • Neymar

    Neymar

A selection of long surging runs with the ball at his feet showed Neymar's enormous potential. His goal may have been dubious but it was deserved. He also showed strength to stay on his feet at times which suggested he could well be a big hit in European football.

  • Borges

    Borges

The Santos forward showed some great attributes in the first half, regularly winning free kicks by putting his body between the defender and the ball and drawing the challenge. He did not test Orion as his club form would have suggested he would however.

    Kléber

Kleber was not given enough time to make an impact as he joined the pitch as Brazil wound the game down.

  • Diego Souza

    Diego Souza

Continued to show the form that earned his call up with an assist for the second goal. He did well to make such an impression in the short amount of time he was offered.

  • Fred

    Fred

Not given enough time to make his mark on the game.

  • Agustín Orión

    Agustín Orión

Rarely called upon during the first half he dealt with what was posed to him comfortably. A solid performance but no real highlights due to a lack of efforts on target from Brazil

  • Christian Cellay

    Christian Cellay

Was unfortunate to be the one who bore the brunt of the Brazil's attacking flair and was beaten on a couple of occasions. He grew less comfortable as the game went on.

  • S. Domínguez

    S. Domínguez

A fairly solid performance from the centre back. He struggled with Neymar's surging runs but on the whole it was a decent performance.

  • Leandro Desábato

    Leandro Desábato

Proved to be a threat in the area for Argentina, seeing a couple of efforts go wide of the post, one either side of half time. He did not put a foot wrong defensively

  • Iván Alexis Pillud

    Iván Alexis Pillud

Combined well down the right hand side with Fernandez in the first half as they exploited space between Bruno Cortes and Rever. In the second half he struggled to deal with Cortes' relentless attacking and was eventually substituted.

  • Emiliano Papa

Emiliano Papa Flop of the Match

Was involved in the game quite heavily but perhaps not in the way he would have hoped. He was caught on the ball up field in the first half and he struggled to deal with the pace of Lucas Moura.

  • Augusto Fernández

    11

    Augusto Fernández

Looked impressive going forward in the first half and kept tabs on Bruno Cortes as he looked to attack. Perhaps should have scored in the second half following Viatri's knock down but shot straight at the keeper.

  • Héctor Canteros

    Héctor Canteros

Disappointing performance after the praise that was lavished upon him from the first leg. Struggled to get involved in the game and have the influence that he did in the last encounter. Was substituted early in the second half due to his ineffectual performance.

  • Walter Montillo

    Walter Montillo

Operated as the playmaker, a position he occupies for his club side Cruzeiro. Whenever Argentina went forward he was the orchestrator and linked the play well. A lack of bodies up front made it difficult to create any serious opportunities but looked very accomplished.

  • Pablo Guiñazú
    6
    13
    0.00

    Pablo Guiñazú

Broke the play up well in the first half and was doing a decent job to minimalise the threat from Ronaldinho. He also used the ball well to draw challenges but was occasionally sloppy.

  • Lucas Viatri

    12
    0.00

    Lucas Viatri

Operating as a lone striker is always a difficult task and the Boca forward did well despite only being supported by Montillo. He was a nuisance for the defence in the first half and forced a good save from Jefferson after a turn and shot in the second.

Substitutions

  • Pablo Mouche

    10
    0.00

    Pablo Mouche

Showed sparks of flair that earned him such a lofty reputation as a youngster. His quick feet and speed earned his side a free kick in a dangerous area late in the second half.

  • Mario Bolatti

    0.00

    Mario Bolatti

A tame header was the most the midfielder could contribute as he struggled to get involved in the game with his side continually forced further back the pitch
