The Friuliani's destiny is in their own hands as they need only a draw at the Angelo Massimino on Sunday to secure a Champions League qualifying berth for the second year running

Catania could be set to bid farewell to a number of personnel in the summer if reports are to believed, as Sunday's match may mark not only an end to the 2011-12 season, but also an era in Sicily. Coach Vincenzo Montella has been tipped with a return to Roma as Luis Enrique's successor, while Cristian Llama and Nicolas Spolli may follow the young trainer to the Olimpico.

Regardless, the Elefanti go into the clash with Udinese with a depleted squad. Gonzalo Bergessio and Ciro Capuano face late fitness tests, but David Suazo, Marco Biagianti, Alessandro Potenza and Cristian Llama are all missing through injury. Francesco Lodi is also suspended, meaning Spolli, Felipe Seymore and Andrea Catellani come into the XI.

Meanwhile for Udinese, an unchanged lineup is expected from the 2-0 victory over Genoa last week, but Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu. Mauricio Isla and Damiano Ferronetti all miss out, as the Zebrette only need a point to seal the last Champions League qualifying spot due to their superior head-to-head record with nearest challengers Lazio.

  • Udinese have won three of their last five meetings with Catania.
  • However, the visitors have emerged victors just twice at the Angelo Massimino, with the hosts coming out on top on the other six occasions.
  • Udinese ended a five-game winless run away from home by beating Cesena two weeks ago.
  • Catania have won just one of their last four home games, losing two and drawing one.
  • Vincenzo Montella's side have scored the most goals from set-piece situations in this Serie A campaign, with 27.
  • They have also had the most goals scored by defenders this season in Serie A (10).

Four goals and four assists this season has seen the Argentine's stock rise this term after previously experiencing a difficult spell in Sicily due to injury. However, now showing his best form in a Catania shirt, all eyes will be on the tricky attacking midfielder, especially with Gonzalo Bergessio and Francesco Lodi both missing out and Alejandro Gomez not enjoying his best of campaigns at the Angelo Massimino.

A. Di Natale

The Italian continues to produce year in, year out for the Zebrette. The 34-year-old has 22 Serie A goals to his name again this season and will need to find the back of the net on Sunday if Udinese hope to pick up three precious points. Simply put, he is their catalyst, and fans of the Friuliani will cross their fingers in unison that Di Natale does not hang up his Udinese boots for good after Sunday's trip to Sicily, amid claims that he is seriously contemplating the idea.

Editor's Prediction

The fact Catania have nothing to play for should not deter them from finishing the campaign on a high, with a capacity crowd ready to turn up and support their team, along with the potential departure of key figures within the club over the summer. However, Udinese have regained their form at a crucial time and should grab the point they need to successfully beat off their competition for third place.
