Player Ratings: AC Milan 1-1 Bologna

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's late equaliser was not enough to stop the champions squandering points in their bid to earn back-to-back titles

Could do little about Ramirez’s goal as his defence retreated to make up for Van Bommel’s giveaway in midfield. Left to smother a few other efforts, but with Milan dominating the second half he was rarely tested.

  • Alessandro Nesta

The centre-back was infuriated by the referee’s decision to penalise him for a foul on Diamanti just after Bologna had taken the lead, but he was rarely bettered after that. Nearly headed home in one of a number of forays forward.

  • Ignazio Abate

    Ignazio Abate

Arrived just too late as Ramirez slotted home for Bologna, then failed to have quite the impact on the ball that he has had in games past, though he did look stronger as the game progressed.

  • Daniele Bonera

    Daniele Bonera

Looked rocky when crosses came to him at the far post, and Diamanti seemed to relish running at him when he had the chance. Capped off a difficult afternoon with a second yellow card for bringing down Acquafresca in the 82nd minute.

  • Luca Antonini

    Luca Antonini

Returned to the side at left-back, but was caught out of position defensively and never really got forward with the penetration that the Rossoneri needed and was replaced by Emanuelson with a quarter of the game to play.

  • Mark van Bommel

Mark van Bommel Flop of the Match

Made his return to the side, but his first major contribution was to be dispossessed by Alessandro Diamanti in the build-up to Bologna’s opener. He was also guilty of playing a pass straight into touch as he failed to get with the pace of the game at any point, and Aquilani replaced him in the 73rd minute.

  • Clarence Seedorf

    Clarence Seedorf

Didn’t put in the influential performance that was expected of him in the trequartista position and was substituted early in the second half, storming straight down the tunnel such was his dissatisfaction.

  • Sulley Ali Muntari

Linked play nicely but rarely looked to have the cutting edge Milan were in need of. Never looked likely to burst beyond the deep and organised Bologna midfield.

  • Antonio Nocerino

    Antonio Nocerino

Tried to employ his usual tactic of arriving late in the box, but not always to much effect. Did get on the end of a Robinho cross on 48 minutes but flashed his shot wide. Nowhere near as influential as he can be.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Sent in a low drive in the opening minutes which Agliardi held well, but rarely got a decent sight of goal in the first half after that. Appeared to have equalised when beating the offside trap to lob home, but the flag was up. Later did grab a deserved leveller as injury time began.

  • Robinho

    Robinho

Blazed wide with an effort soon after the break following a disappointing first half in which one low cross apart he was almost anonymous. Played much better after the break, teeing up Nocerino for a chance before firing an effort that stung the palms of Agliardi, then heading just wide when he could have won it in injury time.

Brought on for Antonini for the final quarter and added an extra presence going forward, finally sending a ball in for Ibrahimovic to tuck home the equaliser.

    Antonio Cassano

Introduced in place of Seedorf 10 minutes after the break and did his best to help his side complete the turnaround but they only got halfway to their target.

    Federico Agliardi

Came out bravely to foil Abate before holding on to a fizzer from Robinho. Stood strong in the face of countless balls flashing around his area as the defence did some big work in front of him.

Tucked in to make a vital clearance as Nocerino looked to slot home an equaliser from Robinho’s low cross injust one of a number of courageous challenges.

Worked hard defensively as Bologna were pegged back by Milan for much of the second period, and even carried the ball forward well on the odd occasion the Rossoblu were relieved of pressure.

Did superbly up against Ibrahimovic, often getting his body between ball and goal, constantly making his presence felt. Chased one effort back to the line, but it was already flagged offside.

  • Andrea Raggi

    Andrea Raggi

Big and strong for much of the game, though he was outdone for skill by Robinho and Ibrahimovic on a couple of occasions, and the equaliser came from his flank.

    Daniele Portanova

Ensured the centre of Bologna’s area remained something of a no-go area for much of the game with his forceful presence and clever reading of the game. Often the man responsible for holding off Ibrahimovic.

  • G. Ramírez

    G. Ramírez

Finished well with his second touch to give Bologna the lead from Diamanti’s breakaway, but was a passenger for long spells as Milan huffed and puffed at the Rossoblu’s door. Fireda later effort wide as Bologna looked to grab a second.

  • Diego Pérez

    Diego Pérez

Really toughed it out in the centre as Milan looked to pass around him and Mudingayi for much of the game. Always appeared willing to get a foot in, even after being booked for bringing down Nocerino.

  • Gaby Mudingayi

Put in a dogged shift in the centre of midfield as Bologna were left to play with a virtual seven-man back line at times, ensuring the visitors kept some sort of shape against the red and black tidal wave. However, he was the man who failed to deal with Emanuelson’s late cross and allowed Ibrahimovic to equalise.

  • Marco Di Vaio

    Marco Di Vaio

Not only did he lead the line well, but he also worked hard to help his team-mates out as Milan forced the game more in the second period. His tough shift led to him being replaced by Acquafresca late on.

  • Alessandro Diamanti

    Alessandro Diamanti

Stole the ball from Van Bommel before playing in Ramirez as Bologna grabbed the lead, then won a free kick deep in Milan territory when running at Nesta. Fizzled out after the break as the pace increased and was replaced by Taider.
