Made a superb double save before D'Agostino bagged the opening goal, but other than that, the Brazilian hardly had to make a save. He was troubled late in the second half by a Gonzalez drive, but it was a fairly straight forward night.
Much like his South American partner, he was sluggish in the first half: not reacting well to the D'Agostino goal. But in the second 45, with Chivu alongside him, he was imperious. He dealt with Destro expertly, and was surging forward at every possible moment.
Was poor at left back in the first half; Mannini got around the outside of him on more than one occasion, and his concentration seemed to be lacking. In the second 45 though, he moved into the centre and was superb. He nullified Destro brilliantly, and almost scored with a header midway through the half.
Gave away possession for the Destro goal, and never really recovered. He looked sluggish all night, and was eventually subbed off on 38 minutes for Nagatomo.
The captain equalled Dino Zoff's tally of 570 appearances in Serie A, and played as well as you'd expect. He made some great surging runs, and drew more than a few fouls, most notably from Bolzoni in the first half. Brienza did get round the outside of him on the counter attack in the first half, but other than that, he was superb.
He was caught in possession more than once in the first half, and struggled up against Vergassola and Bolzoni. His work rate though, was never in doubt, and he improved dramatically in the second period. He missed a great effort in the first half though: firing over from 12 yards, when it looked easier to score.
The Nigerian was given a huge ovation when he came off on 67 minutes, and with good reason. He was terrific going forward, and played a lovely one-two with Chivu inside the first 25 minutes to set up a Milito chance. His work rate was exemplary, and he nullified Vergassola and Bolzoni well.
Struggled initially, getting caught in possession and misplacing passes. He was though, superb going forward, and would have scored in the second half were it not for a fine save by Pegolo.
Came off after 76 minutes without actually contributing very much. He was quiet in the first half, and had to wait until 60 minutes before he had a shot on goal. His crossing was a plus point, but he'll have to do much more next time to convince Stramaccioni he's worth a starting place.
Was lively all evening, and took his goal brilliantly well in the first half. The runs he made were intelligent, and stretched Siena's backline constantly. His link up play with Zarate will have especially pleased Stramaccioni. The second period was much of the same, and he coolly slotted home the penalty to give his side the win.
Back in the starting XI, he now looks like the player Inter expected when they signed him from Lazio in the summer. His jinking runs were always dangerous, and Vitiello struggled to cope with his pace and creativity. He tended to cut inside a lot on to his stronger right foot, but otherwise, the Argentine was excellent.
Kept his side in the game on more than one occasion. He made a superb save from Milito in the first half, and then denied Cambiasso and Milito again in the second period. He commanded the box well, and cannot be blamed for either goal.
Was impressive in the first half, keeping Zarate reasonably quiet down the left-hand side, and getting forward well. In the second 45 though, he was shocking. Nagatomo and Zarate had a field day, and got round the back of him on half a dozen occasions.
He was commanding in the air when called upon, and dealt fairly well with the runs of Milito. Was there to put off Cambiasso when he should have scored midway through the second half
Was booked for a foul on Cambiasso late in the first half, and struggled with the late runs the Inter midfield produced. Milito also caused him all sorts of problems, and he was often left stranded at the back.
C. Del Grosso
Wasn't at fault for either of the goals, but he will feel he could have done better. Zanetti outpaced him at least three times in the second half, and very rarely did he contribute going forward.
Scored a good goal on six minutes, following up a parried Destro effort. But other than that, he may as well have not been there. Stankovic was always around him when he got the ball, and he was eventually subbed off on the hour.
Played some nice passes early on, and coped well with the pressure Cambiasso and Obi put on him. In the second 45 though, much like the rest of his team, he was anonymous, and very rarely got the chance to show his class on the ball.
Had a real game to forget. It was his misplaced clearance that helped Milito to score his first goal, and then, when tracking back Nagatomo, he tripped the Japanese full-back inside the area for a penalty.
Dispossessed Stankovic midway through the first half, but then fouled Zanetti moments later. Other than that, he was fairly quiet, and was subbed on 62 minutes for Gazzi.
Got around the outside of Zanetti on a few occasions in the first half, but again, like most of his team mates, the second half virtually passed him by.
The former Inter youngster looked like he could cause all sorts of problems early on when he dispossessed Samuel for the goal. After that though, he was kept in check by Lucio and Chivu, and never troubled the Inter goal again.
- 12 L. Castellazzi
Came on for Samuel in the first half, and was brilliant down the left-hand side. He teamed up with Zarate superbly, and it was his bombastic run that got Inter their vital penalty.
- 23 A. Ranocchia
- 14 F. Guarín
Came on for Obi on 67 minutes, and had very little time to have an impact on the game. He played a few nice passes for Milito and Zarate, but other that that, never really featured.
- 9 D. Forlán
Replaced Alvarez on 76 minutes, and did virtually nothing in those 15 minutes.
- 1 Ž. Brkić
Replaced Vitiello on 73 minutes, and in that time didn't do anything of note.
- 15 N. Belmonte
- 17 P. Grossi
Came on for Bolzoni on the hour mark, and got forward fairly well. Other than that, he didn't make any sort of mark on the game.
On for D'Agostino after 62 minutes. He went close soon after with a shot from outside the area. Apart from that though, he never really had the chance to get in the game.
