Congratulations to Milan. They were well off the pace in the first half, but showed that they had the ability to open up the Inter defence still, and in 10 minutes midway through the second half they completely changed the game with goals from Ibrahimovic and Boateng. Stay with Goal.com for the full match report, player ratings and fastest match reactions.

90′ +6
FULL-TIME!!!! MILAN WIN THE SUPERCOPPA ITALIANA FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2004!!

90′ +4
Inter looking to force extra-time, but Milan stand firm once more. Emanuelson covers well down the Inter right, but then Eto'o is fed through.... GOOOOOOOALLLLL! NOOOOOO!!! Offside? That's what the referee's assistant says. It was a VERY tight call.

90′ +2
Faraoni dispossesses Pato and wins a free-kick after Seedorf and Ibrahimovic had linked well but the No.10's cross was too heavy.

90′ +1
FIVE MINUTES OF ADDED TIME.

90′
Sneijder attempts a ball forward for Eto'o, but they're not on the same wavelength. Milan regain the ball in a bid to waste a few more precious seconds.

88′
Castaignos wriggles this way and that to win a corner off Zambrotta, but it's wasted. The league champions are just about seeing this one out.

86′
Yellow Card Massimo Ambrosini

86′
Milan are scrambling about somewhat at the moment. This will be a nervous final five minutes.

85′
Yellow Card Massimo Ambrosini

85′
With Ranocchia now pushed up front, he drifts off the back of his marker but misreads the flight of a cross and wastes a good chance. How many more will Inter get like that?

83′
ETO'O!!!! NO!!! Castaignos whips in an excellent cross from the right, but the Cameroonian tries to sidefoot a shot with his left foot and it only trickles wide.

82′
Substitution Joel Obi Luc Castaignos

82′
Substitution Kevin-Prince Boateng Urby Emanuelson

82′
Substitution Kevin-Prince Boateng Urby Emanuelson

82′
Here comes a change. Luc Castaignos replaces Joel Obi for Inter.

80′
Milan win a free-kick as Ambrosini goes down under the slightest touch from Thiago Motta, while Emanuelson prepares to enter the fray.

78′
Yellow Card Kevin-Prince Boateng

78′
Inter are pressing now. A ball in for Sneijder is covered well by Thiago Silva. Inter will have a corner. By the way, this is the first Milan derby in which both sides have scored since February 2009.

77′
Yellow Card Kevin-Prince Boateng

76′
Gattuso is replaced by Ambrosini, but not before Clarence Seedorf ensures that his captain's armband is facing the righ way up. Sometimes football is delayed by the most important of issues!

75′
Substitution Gennaro Ivan Gattuso Massimo Ambrosini

75′
Substitution Massimo Ambrosini Gennaro Ivan Gattuso

74′
Substitution Dejan Stankovic Giampaolo Pazzini

74′
Stankovi is replaced by Pazzini, but Zanetti seemed to be questioning the substitution and the Serbian walked straight past Gasperini without a handshake. Very interesting.

74′
Substitution Giampaolo Pazzini Dejan Stankovic

73′
Ibrahimovic does superbly again to spin off Zanetti and wins a free-kick when Samuel pulls him back. Pato's frree-kick? I'll be kind and just say he missed!

71′
Inter have paid for not making more chances when they were on top. And now Ibrahimovic is through... no... he's offside. Just!

69′
Assist Alexandre Pato

69′
Goal Kevin-Prince Boateng

69′
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kevin Prince Michael Jackson Boateng has done it. Pato brought down a long ball superbly, turned and shot, forcing Julio Cesar to tip onto the post, but Boateng was waiting to slide in the loose ball and Milan lead. WHAT A TURNAROUND!!!!

69′
Goal Kevin-Prince Boateng

67′
Here's a second flashpoint. Thiago Silva wins the ball off Eto'o, only to receive a stamp from Thiago Motta. The Inter midfielder's reward is a charge from Nesta with the shoulder. Rizzoli decides against any punishment.

65′
Zambrotta joins Gattuso in the book for a foul, breaking up Milan's mini period of pressure. Suddenly it's Inter who need a lift.

64′
Yellow Card Gianluca Zambrotta

Substitution Ricardo Álvarez Marco Faraoni

63′
Substitution Marco Faraoni Ricardo Álvarez

63′
Yes, Boateng was offside, but my oh my... he was one-on-one with Julio Cesar but slid his shot too close to the keeper. On come Faraoni for Alvarez for Inter.

62′
Substitution Robinho Alexandre Pato

Yellow Card Wesley Sneijder

61′
That pass over the top was Robinho's last act! He's been replaced by Pato.

60′
Goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic

60′
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!! IBRAHIMOVIC EQUALISES!!!! With Alexandre Pato warming up, Robinho lofts the ball superbly over the defence for Seedorf on the right, and the Dutchman squares for the unmarked Ibrahimovic to knock the ball into an empty net. We're all square!!

58′
Ibrahimovic and Boateng play a magnificent one-two, which Samuel does well to cover, stopping the Swede from getting a shot in on goal.

56′
Zanetti tries to go around he outside of Zambrotta but gets nowhere. The veteran skipper hasn't really got into the game much with so much of the play coming down Inter's left.

54′
Sneijder fires over from distance after more great work by Obi, then Eto'o is caught well offside from a hopeful ball into the box.

52′
SEEEDORF!!!! WIDE!!!! Robinho's square pass through the legs over Thiago Motta found the Dutchman, but hos shot from 22 yards was off target.

50′
Stankovic is roughed up a little bit, but then that seems to be a given for any game! Good to see some things never change in calcio!

48′
Ranocchia beats Ibrahimovic in the air, but clobbered him in the back of the head at the same time, then Eto'o also commits a foul on Van Bommel according to the referee, though it looked pretty 50-50 to me. The free-kicks come to nothing anyway.

46′
Samuel Eto'o's had a joke with the referee, he's had a pat on the bum from Sneijder, so now we can resume. 1-0 Inter. Can Milan come back, or is this going to be another Inter Supercoppa win?

A few half-times thoughts have come in on twitter (@krisvoakes). One from Amjad Ali: " regarding gattuso incident.wasn't it a 2nd yellow worth a sending off?" I reckon it was a foul, but not every foul is a yellow card, even when it would be a second yellow. He had won the ball superbly from Alvarez and just overstretched. Some give them, some don't.

So that's the interval. Just me back here in 10 for the beginning of the second half, and in the meantime, let me know how you've been spending the close season, or alternatively give me your view on the first half. @krisvoakes on twitter.

45′ +2
A dreadful free-kick by Seedorf, which is easily cleared, marks the end of the first half. Inter deserve their lead so far, though Milan have shown that they have the weapons to open up the Nerazzurri defence.

45′ +1
There'll be one extra minute.

44′
Inter will be happy enough to go in at half-time with the score still at 1-0. Milan have had the better of the last five minutes or so. But can they get back level before the break?

42′
Clarence Seedorf is trying to use his experience to rally the Milan troops. They are not far out of this game at the moment and have had two great chances now.

40′
SO CLOSE!!!!! IT'S OFF THE POST!!! Milan were almost level! Abate's cross from the right escaped Boateng at the near post, but on the bounce Ibrahimovic was able to get a head to it. It had little power on it though, and it looped off the far post with Julio Cesar beaten. Unlucky!

40′
Shahab Ahmed thinks there's still every chance for his side to turn it around: "milan can still win! 1 goal is nothing! come on ROSSONERI!! DIG DEEP!!!"

39′
Gabriel Lidchi still believes in Milan: "Stop being pessimistic about milan - there's a reason we are seria a champions 3-1 milan Forza Milan!!!"

38′
Inter are certainly not dominating as they were, but Milan look a little ragged still. It was not performances like this that made them champions of Italy, it has to be said.

36′
Ali Moahmmad Shahid on twiiter says: "Milan have been very ordinary :( Sneijder is showing his class and Robinho proves 2 be da most unrelieable player in football !" My word... even more unreliable than Dimitar Berbatov? That's quite a claim!

34′
Interchanging between Eto'o and Sneijder.... how long will we be able to say that for? It all results in a shot from Alvarez, but he fires over with his left foot.

32′
The Rossoneri are starting to finally build up a spell of pressure. They need to start involving Julio Cesar some more though.

30′
Remember to get in touch... Milan fans... what do you make of your team's no show so far? @krisvoakes on Twitter.

28′
A great tackle by Ranocchia on Ibrahimovic sets Inter back on the attaxck. Where are the Serie A champions? They've been fairly anonymous so far.

26′
In the battle of the trequartisti Sneijder is outplaying Boateng by streets right now, and the Ghanaian runs into trouble as Milan look to build, sending Inter on the counter.

24′
Alvarez gets in behind Abate, but doesn't have the pace to shake off the right-back, and eventually fouls him. Inter are definitely on the front foot though. Milan clinging on for now.

22′
Goal Wesley Sneijder

22′
Goal Wesley Sneijder

22′
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! WESLEY SNEIJDER!!!! He sends a beautifully executed free-kick over the wall and inside the near post... Abbiati gets a hand to it, but can't stop it crossing the line and Inter are ahead... Deservedly too. 1-0 Nerazzurri.

21′
Who says the Super Cup's a friendly!!! Gattuso commits another foul on Obi and the Inter players shout and scream for another yellow card, but it's not forthcoming. Cue pushing and shoving... this one's about to take off.

20′
Yellow Card Gennaro Ivan Gattuso

20′
Yellow Card Gennaro Ivan Gattuso

19′
FIRST BOOKING! And not the biggest of surprises! Gattuso is late with a kick on Alvarez and gets a deserved yellow card from referee Rizzoli.

18′
Inter's wing play so far on the left has made Milan's 4-3-1-2 look very narrow. Stankovic fires high over the bar, but it was a good opening created once again by Obi stretching the Milan back-line.

16′
Gattuso has a moan when a throw-in call doesn't go his way, but then Obi commits a foul throw anyway! The square route of zero is zero!

14′
We've not seen much of Ranocchia, Samuel and Chivu so far, which says something for the way Inter have had the better of the game, but it's that Robinho miss which looked most likely to see the net ripple so far.

12′
Milan are just trying to get a foothold in this game, but when Alvarez wins possession and Eto'o bears down on goal it takes a mix of Thiago Silva and Nesta to keep him out. A dangerous moment there.

10′
Sneijder, in possibly his last game for Inter, again finds success when running at the Milan defence, and this time it's Van Bommel who has to take action.

8′
Eto'o is sent through on the left hand side, but there's no space to work with, and he has to knock it out for a throw-in.

6′
WHAT A MISS!!!! Ibrahimovic picks up the ball and sends Robinho through with the most delightful flick, but the Brazilian fires well off target. That's a real waste!

5′
Inter are in the ascendancy to start, and Sneijder carries the ball to the Milan back-line, but after a couple of fakes he fires high and wide.

4′
Good work by Obi wins Inter a corner, as he runs at Abate. Sneijder's flag-kick escapes everyone in the box though.

2′
Ibrahimovic gets an early touch of the ball, but it was with his hand. Van Bommel fouls Thiago Motta, who goes for a roll. Free-kick Inter.

1′
Off we go! Happy football, everybody!

Formalities over... the season's about to start. And with a Milan derby to boot! It may be Chinese fans wearing the red and black and blue and back, rather than the usual tifosi, but trying telling the 22 players out there that this isn't the real deal!

So Robinho starts instead of Pato, while Gasperini goes for a 3-5-1-1 in his first official game as Inter coach. Thoughts? @krisvoakes on the tweets.
