Yellow Card Claudio Terzi
Thank you for joining us here on Goal.com for Siena-Juventus. I'm Julian De Martinis, and if you've enjoyed the liveblog you can follow me on Twitter @JulianDemar. Antonio Conte's reign has started very well for the Old Lady, whilst Siena appear to have major issues scoring this season.
Valeri blows the whistle for full time! Juve now have two wins out of two games. Siena did well to contain the side for much of the match but were eventually done in by a very creative play.
That's a very bizarre decision by Buffon, who dribbles out of his area despite being surrounded by two Siena players. He loses the ball and seems to commit a foul regaining it but the referee waves play on.
Terzi booked after an intentional handball to prevent Juventus from creating anything of note. The away side now content just to maintain the ball and run out the clock.
The referee has decided that three minutes will be added onto the match. Grosso sends a long ball into the area but no one rushes to meet it.
Siena now in a real hurry to snatch something from the match. Brkic launches a ball far up-field and D'Agostino wins a free-kick for his side. Fearful of losing possession, the side play short passes until Larrondo commits a foul and gives the away side a free-kick.
Siena are doing very well now to maintain possession but cannot muster any true chances. D'Agostino sends a dangeous ball deep into the Juve box but the away side refuses to bend.
Grossi ends a very solid spell of Siena possession after his foul on Giaccherini, but Siena regain it after a poor Buffon goal-kick. The home side continue to poor on the pressure; Del Grosso passes to Grossi but the ball is let out for a goal-kick.
Del Grosso whips in a cross from the left but it sails over everyone in the box. Siena do well to retain possession, but D'Agostino gits Juventus a goal-kick after a very poor lob into the box.
Marchisio is gripping his knee after a duel with D'Agostino for the ball. The midfielder plays on however and does not appear to be in serious pain.
Vidal with a terrible shot! The midfielder was alone in front of the net after a great pass but absolutely skies the shot. Brienza nearly levels the game on the other side of the pitch but his shot goes over as well.
Giuseppe Sannino looks on as his team stand 10 minutes away from their first defeat of the season. The side launch a cross into the box but Juve's centre-backs can clear easily.
Arturo Vidal lashes the ball in from roughly 25 yards out but his shot is low and right at Brkic.
The match is becoming much more open as it wears on, with both sides looking for a goal. Siena's defending, though sometimes last-ditch, has been mostly up to the task. The team is rather impotent up top however.
Substitution Alessandro Matri Alessandro Del Piero
Goal-scorer Matri off for captain Del Piero.
What a chance missed by Juventus! Grosso whips in a cross which bounces just over Vidal and Matri; both players attempt to connect right in front of goal but fail to.
The away side earn a throw in deep in Siena's half but lose the ball after a very poor pass on the right flank. Milos Krasic is nearly ready to come on as Conte barks orders at the winger.
Substitution Alessandro Carlo Gazzi Simone Vergassola
Bonucci bundles onto Larrondo whilst attempting to clear a goal-kick. Before the ensuing free kick can be taken, Gazzi is taken off for Simone Vergassola.
The home side are doing well now to keep the ball and look for openings in Conte's team. With 20 minutes left, the team can still yet pull off an upset.
Larrondo's first involvement in the game is an unintentional handball which gives Juventus a free-kick.
Siena earn a free kick after a clumsy challenge from the away side. D'Agostino floats in a great ball which Calaio knocks off the bar! The whistle is blown for offside however, and a potential goal would not have counted anyway.
Mannini has been taken off for Paolo Grossi as well as Siena look to introduce fresh legs into the game.
Pirlo takes a free kick, which he fires straight at Brkic; the goalie punches the ball out for a corner, which D'Agostino clears for yet another. On the second, Pepe tries an audacious volley which goes well wide.
Siena make their first substitution of the match as Marcelo Larrondo comes on for fellow Argetine Pablo Gonzalez.
Substitution Daniele Mannini Paolo Grossi
Substitution Pablo González Marcelo Alejandro Larrondo
Siena's great tactical display is beginning to break down as the side are pressing forward in pursuit of a goal. Juventus now have control of the midfield, a which Vidal uses to his advantage to fire a shot which Brkic easily collects.
The away side now are in full control of the match and look to add a second to their tally as they push forward relentlessly.
Siena cannot clear their lines at all in the moment as two attempts to do so end up straight at a player in pink. Brkic is eventually able to get the ball and clear but Juventus quickly regain their momentum.
Marchisio dribbles the ball expertly in the box and fires off a shot which nearly makes its way to Matri but the striker is offside.
Substitution Giorgio Chiellini Leonardo Bonucci
Centre-back Giorgio Chiellini comes off for Leonardo Bonucci in a rare defense substitution.
Siena are looking to quickly restore parity as captain Calaio wins the home side a corner. It's drafted in towards the near post and Vidal heads it away.
Substitution Mirko Vučinić Arturo Vidal
And that's Vucinic's last (and only, really) contribution to the game as the former Roma striker comes off for Arturo Vidal.
Assist Mirko Vučinić
Goal Alessandro Matri
GOALLLL! Alessandro Matri with a true striker's finish there. Pepe had found Vucinic open and in space on the right, and the latter smartly rolls the ball back into the striker's path. Matri controlled the ball superbly and rolled it into the net. 1-0 to the away side!
D'Agostino fouls Marchisio in Juve's half but the ensuing free kick is rather poor and Siena look to break quickly.
Pepe's turn now to spark Juve into attack but his cross only finds Brkic. Juve could really use the craft of Vidal or Del Piero as Siena stand resolute in their defense.
Vitello tries to push the home side forward but his very poor cross into the box rolls harmlessly to Buffon.
Giaccherini sends in a very good cross. Brkic attempts to parry but misses- the onlooking Vucinic does very poor there and fails to capitalize.
As club legend Alessandro Del Piero warms up on the sideline, Juventus press forward into Siena's box, their foray ending after a poor Marchisio cross is intercepted.
The second half has begun! Barzagli with another solid tackle nearly right out of the gate on a dangerous Siena play.
As it stands this is the only match in Italy today without at least one goal in it.
Juventus will want to continue as they are in terms of possession but need to focus more on the center of the pitch- as it stands, the side seem too reliant upon Lichtsteiner and Giaccherini to whip in crosses. Siena, however, need to test the away side's defense far more; perhaps a long range shot will create something of note as Gigi Buffon has looked far from his usual self recently.
The referee blows the whistle for half-time following the addition of no extra-time. Neither side has really threatened in the match, with Matri and Vucinic starved of service for Juve and Siena's forwards being equally anonymous. The away side lead in shots and possession by a great majority but have little to show for it.
Lichtsteiner whips in a low cross towards Matri which nearly connects but Terzi had the forward covered well.
The away side are varying tactics now, with a long ball into the box nearly finding the onrushing Giaccherini.
Del Grosso takes a thrown-in deep in the Juventus half but the home side let the ball go straight out for a thoow-in for the other side. Neither side have truly been tested thus far.
Pirlo plays the ball wide to Lichtsteiner who sends in a cross that amounts to nothing. Siena quickly try to counter themselves but Mannini cannot keep in a high ball and it skims out of bounds.
Juventus' Swiss full-back is enjoying linking up with new signing Giaccherini but the latter's crosses are often just a bit off target.
Andrea Barzagli lets a pass carelessly slip to the Siena attack but immediately makes amends with a superb tackle in the box!
This is a very tactical performance from the home side, not allowing Juventus much time nor space on the ball. The away side try changing flanks quickly to create space but their ensuing cross bobbles out of bounds for a goal-kick.
Yellow Card Cristiano Del Grosso
Cristain Del Grosso receives the first booking of the match for a rash tackle on the away side. Pirlo floats in the ensuing free kick but it's far too short and Siena are easily able to knock it out of their box.
The Montengrin tries a long range effort but his shot is hit with too much force; Brkic watches it fly over his goal.
Immediately on the other end Juventus nearly have a better chance themselves, but Simone Pepe's cross from the right misses Vucinic's head.
Mannini takes on Lichtsteiner in the box, dribbles around the outside of the defender, and launches a shot which sails harmlessly over Buffon's goal.
Barzagli and Chiellini deal with a dangerous cross in the box. Both sides are quick to press and close down any passing lanes, however, as chances have been very scarce.
Brkic with a diving punch to clear the ball from his box after a very dangerous delivery from a Pirlo corner. Siena are able to keep the ball and retain possession after having very little for the last 10 minutes.
Pirlo, who has been at the heart of nearly every Juventus foray thus far this afternoon, tries a quick free kick after the foul but Valeri decides it was a bit too quick for his liking.
It's been all Juventus for the past few minutes as the away side pepper the home box with crosses. The spell ends after Matri is oddly called offside- the replay shows he was well onside whilst attempting to get on the end of one of Pepe's crosses.
Pepe earns a corner for the away side after a healthy spell of possession. It's whipped in by Pirlo, and initially cleared but finds its way to Chiellini- who attempts an audacious bicycle kick! The centre-back misses but not by much!
Valeri is able to calm the sides down and resume play. Mannini plays it wide to Del Grosso, who whips in a cross. The ball finds it's way back to Mannini who takes a shot but it's right at Buffon! Italy's no. 1 easily deals with that effort.
A scuffle has broken out between the two sides after a foul! Buffon is out of his net and speaking to the home side after Gazzi's challenge on Chiellini, which caught the defender in the leg.
Pirlo tries a long range effort but the Brkic has little trouble smothering it.
Terzi with a very dangerous clearance there! Pirlo dribbles his way into the box and the number two has no choice but to nick the ball off his feet, which rolls ominously past the far post.
Yet another free kick for the home side after a rough Giorgio Chiellini tackle, but like the others, it comes to little fruition. Both ides have had decent spells of possession but no real chances early in the match.
Siena have won a free kick in Juve's half after Pepe took down Mannini. D'Agostino plays the ball quickly and the away side intercept. Siena eventually get the ball back and find themselves 2-on-2 in a counter but what a poor ball from Calaio to Gonzalez! Should have done much better there to set his teammate free.
Pirlo sends in a beaut of a ball towards Mirko Vucinic's head in the box, but home goalkeeper Brkic is safely able to take it before the Montenegrin can truly capitalize.
Juve are very quick to push forward- perhaps too much so, as the side lose possession twice in quick succession in an attempt to get forward as soon as possible. Siena are the more comfortable of the two just to retain possession, often through D'Agostino.
Siena try to capitalize on the narrow backline of the away side, but the Old Lady are quick to doube team their opponent and launch a counter of their own. Lichtsteiner sends in a fantastic cross that Matri fails to capitalize on! A chance goes begging for Juventus.
Both sides have been quickly bypassing the midfield in these early stages in the game, with fouls seemingly constant as the two sides attempt to feel out the game.
LIchtsteiner gives away a free kick in a very dangerous spot just outside the box. D'Agostino swings it in for the home side but Andrea Barzagli heads it behind for a corner, which comes to little of note.
An early foul by D'Agostino on Pirlo allows Juve to push the ball upfield, where teammate Pepe is fouled as well. From the ensuing free-kick the former Milan maestro floats in a ball which Siena's defense is easily able to clear.
And we have kick-off! The away side are attacking left-to-right and enjoy the majority of the possession in the very early moments. Siena will be looking to settle the ball and retain possession of their own.
Referee Paolo Valeri leads the sides out of the dugout; Siena are wearing their black-and-white home kits whilst Juve are showing off their interesting pink jerseys.
It seems as if there's a sold out crowd in the Artemio Franchi tonight, with nearly every single one of the 15,373 seats sold. It's a tiny stadium but a packed one as the home fans have come out in droves to see their newly promoted side face one of the all-time Italian greats!
Less than 10 minutes now until kickoff! The away side have a potent bench to utilize, with the likes of Milos Krasic and last weekend's super-sub Arturo Vidal just waiting to come on. Siena have options as well in a bench featuring five Italians, including their number 9 Matteo Lorrondo.
It's a warm and cloudy afternoon in Siena with rain and thunder increasingly likely over time, possibly kicking in before the end of the match.
On the other side, Conte has been forced into changed his left-back after Paolo De Ceglie's red last week. Fabio Grosso slots in for the young Italian, whilst the rest of the team remains the same for the Turin side. Juventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, Grosso; Marchisio, Pirlo; Pepe, Matri, Vucinic, Giaccherini
The team lineups have been announced. Giuseppe Sannino has named an unchanged starting eleven from the side that drew last week, with both Daniele Mannini and Gaetano D'Agostino giving the midfield a very technical feel. Siena: Brkic; Vitiello, Rossettini, Terzi, Del Grosso; Mannini, Gazzi, D'Agostino, Brienza; Calaio, Gonzalez
Welcome to Goal.com's live match coverage of Siena-Juventus! Both sides began match-day 1 rather positively, with the former snatching a point away at Catania and the Old Lady demolishing Parma at home 4-1. Juventus will undoubtedly be favorites in the match, but can Siena stave off Antonio Conte's side at home?
