Boca Juniors 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain: Hoarau & Ceara on target as resurgent Ligue 1 giants record convincing win
Parisians dominate match and put on an entertaining show for the fans ahead of what seems to be a promising season for the Ligue 1 big spenders
By Joe Doyle
Paris Saint-Germain comfortably saw off Boca Juniors in their last game of the Emirates Cup with goals from Jean-Eudes Maurice, Guillaume Hoarau and a stunning free-kick from Ceara.
The French Ligue 1 side were often handed too much space by their Argentine opponents, who failed to replicate a revival which dampened Arsenal's spirits on Saturday.
PSG started brightly and opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Maurice after a case of suicidal goalkeeping from Agustin Orion, who flapped when attempting to claim a corner, leaving the Frenchman with an ease poke into the net.
And while Boca were impressing for spells in the first half, PSG doubled their lead with nearly five minutes to go before half-time, this time through striker Hoarau who arrived late in the box to head home powerfully.
Things went from bad to worse two minutes later for Boca and Leandro Gracian in particular, who fell awkwardly on his left arm and was forced off on a stretcher.
The pace of the match slowed considerably in the second half, with Boca's work rate failing to reap any rewards in front of goal.
The Argentine club were being outrun and outmuscled across the field, with the Parisians solid in defence and dangerous through Nene especially on the counter attack.
And in the 79th minute the game was put beyond Boca in superb style, as the right-back Ceara lived up to his Brazilian heritage with a 25-yard free-kick which sailed over the wall and just inside the near post.
