Goal.com rates the players as Keita's late header ensured the visitors avoid defeat in Guardiola's farewell game in La Liga

By Charlie Scott

  • Casto

    Casto

Read a pass from Afellay to Messi brilliantly in the seventh minute, rushing out to block at the Dutchman's feet and this was a sign of things to come for the Betis goalkeeper. Pulled off some fine saves during the course of the game including an acrobatic stop to deny Adriano. Unfortunate to be beaten late on by Keita's strong header.

  • Dorado

    Dorado

Slightly off the pace in the first half facing Messi & Co., but recovered his composure as his side fought back in the second half, and put in some fine challenges late on.

  • Paulao
    29
    5
    3.50

    Paulao

The on-loan French centre-back gave away the corner that led to Busquets' opener after running the ball out of play carelessly, but put in a fine performance at the back after that. Blocked Messi's shot in the 36th minute when the Argentine was afforded space for the first time in the match, and dominated in the air throughout.

  • Chica

    3.50

    Chica

A disappointing performance from the full-back. He brought down Afellay 30 yards from goal, which Xavi very nearly scored from, and spent much of the first half chasing the shadows of Messi, Afellay and Pedro. Withdrawn for Isidoro in the 73rd minute.

  • Nacho
    20
    6
    3.00

    Nacho

Stole the ball from Dani Alves as the Brazilian looked to latch on to a Messi pass inside the Betis box. Nearly created a goal for his side attacking down the left when his cross was deflected off Valdes towards goal but Keita was on hand to smash the ball away to safety.

  • Beñat
    20
    5
    3.00

    Beñat

Had trouble retaining possession in the first half against Xavi and Busquets but, like much of the Betis team, came into the match as it wore on, and was far more accomplished on the ball in the second period.

  • José Cañas
    20

    3.00

    José Cañas

Read the game well in the centre of the park, nicking the ball off the feet of Barcelona's attackers on a number of occasions. Impressed in the second half as his side fought back from a goal behind to take the lead before conceding an equaliser late on.

  • Pozuelo

    Pozuelo

Very quiet, failed to trouble Adriano down the right. Was replaced by the exciting 19-year-old Nono in the second half.

  • Jonathan Pereira

    3.50

    Jonathan Pereira

Hassled and harried the Barcelona back line throughout. The striker had a chance to get a decent shot away in the 51st minute but took a touch when he should have fired in a first-time effort.

  • Jefferson Antonio Montero

    Jefferson Antonio Montero

This was a hit-and-miss performance from the talented midfielder as he drifted in and out of the game. He drew both fouls from Dani Alves that resulted in his two bookings of the evening. Looked a decent threat in the second half but appeared to pull up with an injury after an hour.

  • Rubén Castro
    114

    3.50

Rubén Castro Top of the Match

A clinical performance from the Betis frontman. He was unfortunate not to win a free kick on the edge of the box when he was wrestled to the ground by Mascherano. Equalised by lobbing the ball brilliantly over Valdes after racing on to Santa Cruz's flicked header, before adding another superb goal just minutes later curling the ball round the keeper into the corner.

Substitutions

  • Isidoro

    Isidoro

Introduced late on and had little time to make an impact on the game.

  • Nono

    Nono

Impressed as a second-half substitute, showing the confidence to run at the Barcelona defence on a couple of occasions.

  • Roque Santa Cruz

    3.50

    Roque Santa Cruz

Replaced Montero on the hour mark after the midfielder pulled up with an injury. Had an immediate impact on the game, flicking the ball on to Castro for his side's first goal of the evening.

  • Víctor Valdés
    32
    63
    3.00

    Víctor Valdés

Nothing to do in the first half. Saved well at the feet of Castro at the start of the second but could do little to stop either of the Betis striker's brilliant strikes.

  • Daniel Alves
    49

Daniel Alves Flop of the Match

As usual spent the majority of the opening 45 minutes in the opposition's half, but was shown up defensively by Montero, particularly when he pulled the midfielder back in the 30th minute and was shown a yellow card. The Brazilian was then given his marching orders after receiving a second yellow card for another reckless tackle on Montero.

  • Piqué
    38
    61
    3.00

    Piqué

This was only his second start in the last 10 games in all competitions, and it showed. He was fortunate not to give away a penalty in the first half after catching Castro inside the area before being caught out of position for both of Betis' goals.

  • Adriano
    33
    47
    3.00

    Adriano

Gave the ball away cheaply on a number of occasions but did well going forward. He came close to scoring in the 30th minute, and would have but for a fine acrobatic piece of goalkeeping from Casto.

  • Xavi
    71
    41
    3.50

    Xavi

A solid performance from the midfielder. Provided the assist for Busquets' opener. Whipped a free kick from 30 yards inches wide of the post and flashed another just off target moments later, firing the set piece into a crowded penalty area and bouncing the ball in front of the bewildered Casto. Replaced by Iniesta late on in the game.

  • Javier Mascherano
    65
    43
    3.50

    Javier Mascherano

Put in a fine defensive perfomance and was unfortunate to be playing for a side that conceded two goals. Got away with a foul on Castro in the 23rd minute right on the edge of his own penalty area. That aside, had an absolutely brilliant first half, and carried that form into the second period.

  • Seydou Keita
    94
    39
    3.50

    Seydou Keita

Neat and tidy on the ball throughout and looked dangerous going forward. The midfielder had a shot saved by Casto early in the second half, before scoring the equaliser in injury time with a fine header.

  • Busquets
    57
    45
    3.50

    Busquets

Scored the first goal of the game with a delighftul glancing header over Casto and into the far corner of the net. for his first and only goal in La Liga this season. Some fine reading of the play in the centre of the park, but faded as the game progressed.

  • Ibrahim Afellay
    115
    36
    3.50

    Ibrahim Afellay

Making his first start for 12 months, the flying Dutchman was bright and full of dynamism. Had an attempt blocked by the Casto early on and made a good run to create space for Messi to drive into the Betis box and get a shot away in the 36th minute. Brought off for Montoya following Dani Alves' sending off.

  • Messi
    137
    129
    3.50

    Messi

A fairly quiet game by his exceptionally high standards. Set Afellay free with a delightful pass early on, but Casto was alert to sweep up the danger. Embarked on a driving run himself across the Betis penalty area in the 36th minute before having a left-footed shot blocked by the diving Paulao. Hit the post with a free kick in second half injury-time with Casto well-beaten.

  • Pedro
    33
    51
    3.00

    Pedro

Had a low shot saved early on and was bright in the first half. Went into the game in good form having scored four goals in his last eight appearances, but failed to add to that tally this evening. Replaced by Tello in the second half.

Substitutions

  • Montoya
    52
    32
    3.00

    Montoya

Brought on to fill in at right-back following Dani Alves' dismissal. Played Castro onside for the striker's second goal of the evening, but then made amends for that error by providing the assist for Keita's equaliser.

  • Andrés Iniesta Luján
    43
    33
    3.00

    Andrés Iniesta Luján

No time to stamp his mark on the match after replacing Xavi late on.

  • Tello
    36
    36

    Tello

Little time to have any real impact on the game after being introduced as a late second-half substitute.
