Player Ratings: Real Madrid 4-2 Getafe

Goal.com rates the players on show as Jose Mourinho's men outscore their neighbours from across the city to go top of La Liga

  • Iker Casillas

    Iker Casillas

Could do nothing to prevent either Getafe goal and was let down by his defence at times. Whenever called upon, he pulled out some excellent saves, including palming away a powerful shot from Miku in an important part of the match.

  • Marcelo
    313

    Marcelo

The best and worst from the Brazilian this evening. Got forward very well and linked up well with Mesut Ozil. However, left massive spaces at the back and was lucky that Getafe were unable to capitalise when they had possession on the right wing.

  • Ricardo Carvalho
    252

    3.00

    Ricardo Carvalho

Not the best performance from the centre-back. Did well in possession but was uncharacteristically shaky at times in the game, and was not without guilt for both of Getafe's goals.

  • Pepe
    217
    317
    2.50

    Pepe Flop of the Match

Strayed from his position too many times and forced team-mates to cover the centre-back position. Looked slightly shaky in possession and gave the ball away too frequently for a Madrid player.

  • Sergio Ramos
    320
    35
    3.00

    Sergio Ramos

Showed good pace more than once when dealing with the threat of Masilela and Sarabia down the left-hand side. Also had to cover a few times for Pepe when the Portuguese found himself out of position and did so effectively. However, did not offer as much going forward as usual.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo
    757
    92
    4.50

    Cristiano Ronaldo

A decent performance from the Portuguese in which he scored and set up a goal. However, by his exceptionally high standards it was a relatively quiet match, particularly in the first half. His assist for Benzema's goal was truly world-class and showed he is effective as a provider as well as a scorer.

  • Xabi Alonso
    317
    42
    3.50

    Xabi Alonso

Was injured in the first half which affected his performance for the rest of the match. Generally sat back and gave the ball to Ozil who acted as the deep lying playmaker for the match. Did not do much wrong but did not effect the game in the second half.

  • Mesut Özil
    672
    71
    3.50

    Mesut Özil

Was always available to receive possession and could always be found hovering on the edge of the box waiting to slip passes through the defence. Also came deeper than usual to receive the ball, which was just as effective as it pushed Getafe back into their own half and allowed Madrid to control possession.

  • Fabio Coentrao
    284
    165
    2.00

    Fabio Coentrao

Did his job in the midfield area and managed to make some very good interceptions that stopped Getafe attacks. However should have got himself a goal instead of squandering two very good chances.

  • Ángel Di María
    315
    87
    4.00

    Ángel Di María

Had moments of brilliance with his dribbling but was ultimately ineffective for Real Madrid after being marshalled well by Masilela. Was substituted for Kaka in the 72nd minute.

  • Karim Benzema
    839
    39
    4.50

Karim Benzema Top of the Match

An excellent performance from the Frenchman. Was a constant thorn in the side of the Getafe defence and his tireless work ethic and movement was awarded with two emphatically-taken goals.

Substitutions

  • Kaká
    401
    777
    2.50

    Kaká

Did not really effect the game after his introduction.

  • Gonzalo Higuaín
    527

    0.00

    Gonzalo Higuaín

A good cameo in the last few moments of the match as he put the game beyond Getafe with a well taken goal.

  • Miguel Moyà
    68
    35
    3.50

    Miguel Moyà

Conceded four goals but did not play badly by any means. Could not have done anything for either goal and kept his side int the match at times. Pulled off some great saves after a powerful header and a strike from Ronaldo.

  • Peter Tsepo Masilela
    45
    28
    3.00

    Peter Tsepo Masilela

A decent performance from the South African, who managed to remain disciplined in defence and did not allow Di Maria to get the better of him too many times. Also did well to get forward when Getafe attacked and provided an extra body down the left flank.

  • Cata Díaz
    20
    28
    3.00

    Cata Díaz

Typical solid performance from the Argentine. Dominant in the air as always and did not allow Ronaldo any room to jump in for a header. Also did well to start play from the back which was the benchmark of Getafe's play.

  • Miguel Torres
    26
    29
    3.00

    Miguel Torres

Playing out of position and it showed at times with some naïve positional sense. Was unlucky to be up against an in-form Benzema and struggled to deal with the movement of the Frenchman.

  • Juan Valera
    20
    28
    3.50

    Juan Valera

Did well whenever dealing with Ronaldo, who he managed to usher inside without allowing him too many shots at goal. However, when Marcelo attacked down the left he was very easy to overcome and the Brazilian was able to whip in crosses too easily.

  • Juan Rodríguez
    19
    28
    3.00

    Juan Rodríguez

Struggled to link up play effectively between the Real Madrid defence and midfield and often found himself playing deeper to try and collect possession and effect the play. Showed some neat touches but did not effect the game for his side.

  • Lacen
    28
    24
    4.00

    Lacen

Was Getafe's most effective playmaker and provided a neat pass for Miku's first goal. Also did well defensively and screened the defence when he could but was ultimately overrun in midfield.

  • Francisco Casquero
    21
    26
    2.50

    Francisco Casquero

Did well to get in the face of Alonso and Coentrao in an attempt to stop them building up play, which did work for long periods in the match. Was also neat in his possession and acted as a calming presence for Getafe but got tired and was eventually substituted.

  • Pablo Sarabia
    51
    23
    3.50

    Pablo Sarabia

Showed his pace and skill at times and linked up well with Masilela down the left but often looked bereft of ideas when in possession in the final third.

  • Miku
    154
    30
    4.00

    Miku

All you want from your lead striker. Has Guiza breathing down his neck for a starting place and responded brilliantly. Kept the Madrid defence working and scored two strikers' goal to round off a very good performance.

  • Pedro Ríos
    17
    25
    3.50

    Pedro Ríos

Found himself in excellent positions with plenty of time when Marcelo was out of position. However, regularly hit the first man with crosses into the box and was wasteful with the time he was given.

Substitutions

  • Dani Güiza
    21
    34
    3.00

    Dani Güiza

Played a key part in Getafe's second, when his shot was parried by Casillas before Mike converted.
