Tomas Pekhart has undergone surgery on his thumb, but is likely to make the squad for Friday's clash. Meanwhile, Juri Judt and Timothy Chandler have both returned to fitness, but are unlikely to make the starting line-up. However, Per Nilsson sustained an injury in the course of the week, while Hanno Balitsch, Tim Klose and Javier Pinola are not fit enough to play any part.
Mario Gotze remains sidelined for the Bundesliga champions, but Jakub 'Kuba' Blaszczykowski's recent renaissance makes the 19-year-old absence less of a headache. Despite deadline day speculation linking him with Fulham, Lucas Barrios stayed at the club, but is only set to make the bench, behind the in-form Robert Lewandowski.

Markus Feulner was the forgotten man at Borussia Dortmund, but has found a home, and regular football, since joining Nurnberg in the summer. With Dortmund's attack in ruthless form of late, there will be no better time to show his former employers that they may have made an error in letting him go.

Mario Gotze's injury has handed Kuba a golden opportunity to show his worth for both his club, and to cement his place in Poland's international squad as they prepare to host Euro 2012 in the summer. The 26-year-old scored twice against Hamburg a fortnight ago, and will be full of confidence as his team head into a key section of the season.
The gulf in quality between these two sides is plain to see. Nurnberg are perenially struggling for form, while Dortmund have been on fire. The German champions look good value to retain their title as it currently stands and expect Jurgen Klopp's men to run out easy winners when they travel to Bavarians.
