My name is Tom Webber and I would like to thank you for joining us on Goal.com. Remember to stick here for the match report and player ratings along with all the other post-match news. Have a great evening.
The two sides have now produced 319 goals in their 90 Bundesliga encounters and are well and truly the most productive pairing in the league. What a great game that was.
The reigning champions are now unbeaten in 12 games and have taken the lead in the head-to-head record between the sides with their 32nd win over their opponents.
The final whistle goes on a game where Dortmund exerted supreme dominance to move level with Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 at the top of the Bundesliga. They scored five but could have had a few more than that.
Some good late pressure from HSV but there urgency has come far too late. Grosskreutz takes the ball down the other end and pulls a save from Drobny. But there is no time added on and the whistle goes.
That makes a slightly better impression on the scoreline but perhaps Fink got his substitutions the wrong way round. Sala has offered much more creativity and width down the right to create chances for the strikers. Perhaps his introduction came too late.
Goal P. Guerrero
GUERRERO!! Too little too late for HSV. Sala's ball into the net is met by Guerrero whose touch gets away from him. Tesche chases the ball down and stops Langerak clearing comfortably and the ball falls to Guerrero as the keeper slides past him. An easy finish falls to the Peruvian who tucks into the open net to score in his last five Bundesliga home matches.
Dortmund have performed fantastically all game and exposed some dreadful HSV defending.
Assist Kevin Großkreutz
Goal Robert Lewandowski
IT IS FIVE!!! LEWANDOWSKI!! HSV have been ripped apart. Leitner's delightful ball finds Blaszczykowski down the left. He cuts it back to Lewandowski who had dropped off. A quick touch begins an intricate give-and-go with Grosskreutz and Lewandowski is in one-on-one to tuck the ball home. Fantastic team goal from the visitors.
Grosskreutz has another strike at goal from the left corner of the box but there was no real conviction behind the strike and it sails well over the bar.
The HSV fans look like they have really had enough and you cannot blame them. Another defeat leaves them dangerously close to the bottom following Freiburg's victory this weekend.
Thorsten Fink's record of being unbeaten in eight games whilst in charge of HSV now does not look as impressive. It now reads as just two victories in nine games. A drastic improvement is surely needed, though they are behind to superior opposition.
Assist Moritz Leitner
Penalty Goal Jakub Blaszczykowski
PENALTY!! SCORED BY BLASZCZYKOWSKI!! Diekmeier slides in to clear the ball away but he is beaten to it by the substiute Leitner who pokes the ball away. Blaszczykowski steps up and scores an extremely assured penalty with Drobny diving the wrong way. It is a rout!
Blaszczykowski sends yet another drilled effort at goal but Drobny gets down well and saves the ball relatively comfortably.
Free kick about 35 metres from goal here for HSV. Aogo sends the ball in and Bruma heads it across the goal but it narrowly goes wide of the post. Could well have come off his shoulder there actually.
Schmelzer has an ambitious effort on goal as he shoots directly from a free kick a fair way out from goal. The ball flies just over the bar but Drobny looked to have had it covered.
Lewandowski lays the ball off for Blaszczykowski down the right flank. He looks up and takes his time to pick out a player. He probably takes too long and ends up only finding a HSV defender.
HSV have only scored once in the final quarter of an hour in this Bundesliga campaign so they will need a real goal rush to stand a chance of getting back into this. Surely that is beyond them now.
Petric has not had the impact that Thorsten Fink would have wanted but that is due to his side being outplayed in the middle of the park. HSV have failed to create a chance for the Croatian striker.
It should be four! The HSV defence are all over the place. Kagawa passes to Grosskreutz and he plays a square ball to Lewandowski. He takes the shot whilst spinning on the spot and sends it well wide. He could easily have had a hat-trick today.
Lewandowski has another chance to score. He looks to disguise his shot by bending it around the defender and into the top corner but he gets it all wrong and his effort goes well wide.
That will surely put an end to HSV's hope of a comeback. They have really been lacklustre in defence today and paid the price despite Dortmund not being completely clinical.
Assist Robert Lewandowski
Goal Jakub Blaszczykowski
GOOOAAALLL!!! BLASZCZYKOWSKI!! Just as things look up for HSV Dortmund peg them back. Lewandowski is closed by Aogo but his challenge is far to weak and the ball bounces to his Polish international team mate. He drills a chance across Drobny and it arrows into the bottom corner.
HSV move the ball from the left to the right flank and Diekmeier is the man over. His shot/cross is deflected wide by Schmelzer who is having a solid game at left-back today. The first period of sustained pressure from HSV.
After a few sloppy passes HSV begin to spread the play well and work some space but they are still struggling to create a goal scoring opportunity.
Kagawa finds acres of space on the left as he is left to wander the final third at his leisure. He cuts it back to Grosskreutz but he slices his effort and it hits Westermann and is eventually cleared away.
Aogo, whose delivery has been excellent all game, sends a dreadful ball into the box from a set-piece when it really counts. HSV fans will be really disappointed with that.
HSV are going to go for this. They are looking a bit more direct but will it all be in vain? Dortmund are unbeaten in their last 11 Bundesliga matche.
Some sloppy passes along the HSV back line almost allows Dortmund in on goal. The defence manage to keep control and clear the ball well away from goal.
Lam again looks to break down the left but Schmelzer does well to match him down to the byeline and turn the ball behind for a corner.
The youngster Lam sends a ball into the box from the right but it does not get past the first defender and Hummels heads it clear.
Here we go. The second half is underway!
Mladen Petric is out on the pitch in his kit as Thorsten Fink looks to find a way back into this game. They will need to improve defensively and try to take more control in midfield if he is to have a chance of influencing this match.
The second half is just a few moments away. Will Dortmund run away with this one or will HSV find a way back into the game? The stage is set for a fascinating second half. Make sure you stick around and join us for it!
Welcome back. Mladen Petric has been warming up during the half time break. His introduction is surely needed if HSV are hoping to salvage anything from this match.
I'm off for a half time hot beverage. Make sure you're back in 10 minutes for what is sure to be an electric second half. In the meantime, feel free to send me your comments via twitter @thwebber.
HSV just have not been able to find the target when they have managed to create a chance. Some changes will be needed very soon for Thorsten Fink's side.
The half time whistle is met by a number of jeers across the stadium which have not been heard for quite some time. Dortmund have been a cut above and take a well deserved 2-0 lead into the break.
Just one minute of stoppage time to be played at the Imtech Arena.
Great ball by Guerrero almost finds Janssen making a diagonal run. He gets into the box but Schmelzer shows immense pace and judgement to win the ball and win a free kick in the process.
Dortmund are now just holding onto possession and looking to play out the remainder of the half with the ball at their feet.
HSV finally manage to link some passes together and spread the ball from right to left. Aogo again delivers a great ball which Kacar heads at the goal. He gets to far underneath it though and it goes well high of the goal.
Dortmund are looking for another and HSV are just hanging on here. The earn a corner after some neat passes including Kagawa but they fail to make anything of it.
Assist Jakub Blaszczykowski
Goal Robert Lewandowski
SUPER GOAL FROM LEWANDOWSKI!! More poor defending from the hosts. Some more quick passes cuts through HSV. Lewandowski nutmegs Westermann picking the ball up on the other side. He then feigns a shot and cuts back, beating Aogo and clipping the ball in to the back of the net. Marvellous individual goal.
Dortmund are beginning to gather some more momentum. Schmelzer sends an enticing ball across the danger area from the left but there is no one in the centre to turn it in.
A great delivery from Aogo from the left side corner. Bruma goes in for the header but it looks like Subotic does enough to put the defender off and he fails to direct it goalwards.
Yellow Card Jeffrey Bruma
It goes into the back of the net but the ref had already blown for a foul before Lewandowski headed the ball in. Looks like a push from Piszczek on the edge of the box.
Another rash challenge from Bruma, this time on Schmelzer and he goes in the book for his repeat offending. A free kick in a similar opportunity to the previous Subotic chance.
It's almost two! The free kick is whipped in deliciously by Blaszczykowski and Subotic gets his head to it. He sends it down into the ground and as it bounces up Drobny manages to claw it away. Terrific save form the HSV keeper.
Bruma gives away are free kick after being a bit rough on Lewandowski. This will offer Dortmund another chance on goal.
A lot of whistles around the Imtech Arena because Drobny gets yet another touch on the ball. Dortmund look very compact and organised so far.
Dortmund are getting every man bar Lewandowski behind the ball as HSV look to probe. They just cannot find a way through and with Lewandowski chasing down the centre backs the ball goes all the way back to the keeper.
It has been an absolutely electric start to this match. HSV are struggling to clear their lines and are just hitting the long ball for Guerrero to run on to. Great intensity to this matchup.
This is a good response from HSV they are no applying some pressure high up in the Dortmund half. They win a corner which comes to nothing. Tesche then drills a shot across the goal from 25 metres and Guerrero is agonisingly close to diverting it in.
Guerrero goes close! HSV almost peg Dortmund straight back but the lone striker fails to hit the target. A great ball in from Aogo is headed by a free Guerrero however the Peruvian misjudges the header and it bounces well wide.
Assist Shinji Kagawa
Goal Kevin Großkreutz
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLL!! GROSSKREUTZ!! Some more poor defending from HSV. Great work from Kagawa on the edge of the area as he feigns to shoot before passing to Grosskreutz. His first touch kills the ball and he slots the ball into the bottom corner with the keeper diving the wrong way.
HSV are struggling to get the ball off of Dortmund who are moving the ball around well with quick short passes. When the hosts are on the ball they are holding it deep as the struggle to find place in the opposing half. Dortmund's high pressing is almost forcing the defenders into a number of mistakes.
Great challenge! Kacar gives the ball away in midfield and Kagawa surges forward. He finds Kehl who moves the ball onto Lewandowski with a delightful first touch. The ball seemed to get stuck in the Polish stiker's feet allowing Westermann to slide in and take the ball off his toe. Terrific defending.
Langerak initiates a counterattack with a quick throw. Grosskreutz drives into space and is not closed down but opts to shoot from in excess of 30 metres. He completely slices his effort and it goes high and wide.
Lam does well to work some space for Guerrero but the Peruvian international does not find the chance to test Langerak.
A ball over the top causes some confusion in the HSV defence. With Drobny rushing out Bruma tried to leave the ball which almost allowed Lewandowski to steal the ball. The on-loan Chelsea defender recognised the danger and cleared the ball away though.
HSV string a good few passes down the left as they evade the hard pressing of the Dortmund defence. A pass is misplaced though and the ball goes out of play.
HSV are now trying to settle on the ball and are keeping possession well within their own half. It is probably best to stop the early momentum that Dortmund already seem to have built up.
Another couple of chances early on for Dortmund. Lewandowski sees and effort deflect off Bruma and loop behind. From the resultant corner Neven Subotic heads the ball narrowly over the bar. Great start from the visitors.
A lot of energy from the opening and Dortmund have the first chance. Kagawa wins the ball back for the visitors and Blaszczykowski sends the ball across but Bender misses the target.
And we're underway! The Bundesliga is back!
Attendance of around 53000 at the Imtech Arena. Remember to get involved via twitter @thwebber. Huge game on the way.
Kick off is just moments away as the teams emerge from the tunnel here. No Mario Gotze for the visitors today. The youngster misses out through injury.
A win for Dortmund would see them join Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 on 37 points at the top of the Bundesliga. HSV on the other hand could rise as high as 10th with a victory.
The two teams are perfectly matched in the Bundesliga in terms of games. Both HSV and Dortmund have won 31 games and there have been 27 draws. Who will come out on top today and take charge of this head-to-head record?
Dortmund have failed to beat HSV when playing away from home in the last five attempts. They have lost four times and drawn one back in April of 2010 in a 1-1 draw between the two sides.
The Dortmund substitutes are: Focher, Owomoyela, Perisic, Gundogan, Leitner, Zidan and Barrios.
Here is how the visitors line up. Dortmund (4-3-2-1): Langerak; Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Bender, Kehl; Blaszczykowski, Kagawa, Grosskreutz; Lewandowski.
The hosts are yet to lose under the stewardship of new manager Thorsten Fink. With eight league games under his belt, the former Dortmund player has overseen two wins and six draws for HSV.
On the bench for HSV are: Neuhaus, Rajkovic, Mancienne, Jarolim, Sala, Petric and Son.
Here is the team news. HSV (4-2-3-1): Drobny; Diekmeier, Westermann, Bruma, Aogo; Kacar, Rincon; Lam, Tesche, Janssen; Guerrero.
As always you can get involved through twitter. Send your thoughts and predictions to @thwebber and I will pick the best ones out over the course of the next two hours or so!
