Player Ratings: Swansea City 0-1 Manchester United
United battle to an unconvincing three points thanks to Javier Hernandez's strike in the 11th minute but it was Rio Ferdinand who excelled to keep his side tight at the back
Could do nothing about Hernandez's goal and looked comfortable when needed to save snapshots from outside the box. Impressive distribution set the tone for Swansea's short passing.

Ashley Williams
Used his size to outmuscle Hernandez for much of the game and showed alert positioning. Like the rest of the Swansea team, made good use of the ball.

Neil Taylor
Excellent defensively as he took on the unenviable task of stopping Nani. Never looked threatening going forward, which was summed up by an effort in the first half that went miles wide.

Garry Monk
A decent display from the centre-back. Couldn't react to pick up Hernandez for the United goal but was generally assured.

Flop of the Match
The Spaniard was caught on the ball and punished as Giggs squared for Hernandez to put United ahead. It was the mistake that cost his side the match.

Leon Britton
Always demanded possession to kick-start Swansea attacks. Almost faultless with the accuracy of his short passing as the hosts controlled almost the whole of the second half.

Scott Sinclair
Threatened on the Swansea left with his pace and skill but struggled to find the final pass. Horrendous miss in the first half as he took his eye off the ball and miskicked with the goal at his mercy. Forced De Gea into action after the break from a tight angle.

Nathan Dyer
A real livewire for the hosts as he twisted and turned at top speed. Intriguing battle with Evra as he also showed composure at the end of his runs to cross or look for a short pass. Found it far more difficult following the introduction of Fabio.

Wayne Routledge
Rewarded for his display in the previous game against Liverpool with another start. Found it difficult to find space between the United defence and midfield and was replaced by Allen at half-time. Had one shot blocked by Carrick and Sinclair somehow missed after the ball fell to him.

Mark Gower
Comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and his passing was efficient. Perhaps lacked some creativity when Swansea were finding it hard to break United down in the first half.

Danny Graham
Led the line with workrate and enthusiasm but didn't have the ability to get away from the attentions of Ferdinand and Vidic.

Joe Allen
Replaced Routledge at half-time and the first thing he did was place an excellent pass to Sinclair. Classy on the bll and showed plenty of invention.

Stephen Dobbie
Introduced as a replacement for Gower in the 79th minute but couldn't help Swansea find an equaliser.
A solid performance from the young Spaniard, who kept his concentration to claim the ball well and made a sharp stop to deny Sinclair just after half-time.

Patrice Evra
Seemed half a yard off Dyer and was poor positionally. Intelligent decision by Ferguson to replace the Frenchman with Fabio in the 51st minute shortly after he picked up a booking.

Phil Jones
Strong in the tackle but once again showed he has a lot of work to do on his awareness and positioning. Didn't seem to have any idea where Sinclair was on a couple of occasions, including the glorious chance that the Swansea winger missed. Always a threat going forward and smashed an effort against the post from a tight angle in the closing moments.

Top of the Match
A calm, assured display in central defence. Covered well as Vidic attacked the ball and always looked aware of his surroundings.

Nemanja Vidic
Once again led by example at the heart of the United defence with some excellent headers, tackles and interceptions to deny Swansea chances.

Ryan Giggs
The Welshman reminded those in his homeland of his quality as he won possession and squared to Hernandez for United's opener in the 11th minute. Flitted in and out of the game from then on but played with intelligence.

Ji-Sung Park
A rather weak performance from the South Korean. Poor use of the ball and found it hard to help defend against Dyer's pace.

Michael Carrick
Played a very important role at the base of the United midfield, even though it wasn't particularly eye-catching. Made some excellent interceptions to break up Swansea's play and his passing was spot on.

Nani
The Portuguese winger had one of those afternoons when he doesn't look interested. A couple of neat flicks and tricks, but no cut and thrust as Swansea dealt with him comfortably. Did force a good save from Vorm in the last action of the match with a curling effort.

Wayne Rooney
Picked the ball up in good positions and played some dangerous passes towards Hernandez. Spent most of the second half working defensively to put Swansea players under pressure. Late chip landed on the roof of the net but he never really looked like scoring.

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez
Gave United the lead in the 11th minute with a typical poacher's finish after Giggs squared the ball. Always lively but appeared to lack confidence on the ball when he squared blindly in the first half and took a heavy touch in a good position after the break.
