Referee:‬ M. Jones‎
Attendance:‬ 36129‎

Fulltime at White Hart Lane and Liverpool suffer their biggest League defeat in eight years. Spurs were worth each of their goals, but Liverpool will rue those sendings off. A great day for Spurs, a wretched one for Liverpool.

90′ +3
Assist Benoit Assou-Ekotto

90′ +3
Goal Emmanuel Adebayor

90′ +3
GOAL!!!! Spurs have four! It's Adebayor again! The big striker latches onto a ball over the top of the Liverpool defence, steadies himself and lashed the ball past Reina with an emphatic half volley.

90′ +1
A little incident there away from the ball. Lucas caught Parker after the ball was played and the Englishman swung his right foot toward the Brazilian and hit him. Referee didn't see it.

90′
Van der Vaart almost adds a fourth! The Dutchman got in behind the Liverpool defence but attempted to chip the ball over Reina, however the Spaniard was alert to the audacious effort.

89′
Liverpool with a decent chance there as Jose Enrique - probably Liverpool's best player today - put in a good cross, but Kaboul managed to flick the ball on with his head just before Carroll could get there.

88′
This time it's Spurs trying their luck from range, but Bale smashes his shot well over.

85′
Once again, Liverpool forced to shoot from range as this time Jay Spearing tries his luck, but his effort was even worse than Downing's effort as it goes wide.

84′
Substitution Jermain Defoe Giovani dos Santos

84′
Substitution Ledley King S. Bassong

83′
Adebayor goes close again. Walker, who has been brilliant on the right today, put in a great cross but Adebayor couldn't quite get his head on it.

78′
Good chance for a fourth there! Modric did well to pick out Assou Ekotto on the left flank. The Cameroonian played in a good ball but all the Spurs players missed it with Van der Vaart coming closest.

75′
Spurs are knocking the ball around brilliantly at the moment whilst Liverpool cannot get any possession. In the words of Alan Partridge, "liquid football" from Spurs.

72′
LIVE! 'What a waste of money' is the chant directed at Andy Carroll, but no doubt there will be murmings about the wider investment made at Anfield. Far too early to entertain such thoughts, but this is has been a simply emmbarassing afternoon for Kenny Dalglish's side.

71′
The Spurs fans are absolutely loving this with every pass greeted with a massive cheer. Spurs are definitely flouting their ability to pass as their players refuse to take more than two touches. It's certainly entertaining to watch, but Liverpool will be desperate for the fulltime whistle.

70′
Substitution Luis Suárez Craig Bellamy

70′
Substitution Stewart Downing Jay Spearing

68′
Assist Jermain Defoe

68′
Goal Emmanuel Adebayor

68′
GOAL!!! Two-minute double-salvo for Spurs! This time it's Adebayor who grabs the goal. Defoe tries his luck from 25 yards, but Reina spills his shot and in comes the former Arsenal man as he coolly flicks the ball over the 'keeper and calmly taps home from four yards out.

67′
LIVE! Kenny Dalglish's misery has been further compounded by Jermain Defoe. The striker was allowed to turn by Enrique far too easily, and duly punished the Spaniard, rifling the ball into the back of the net to double Tottenhams lead

66′
Assist Rafael van der Vaart

66′
Goal Jermain Defoe

66′
GOAL!!! Spurs double their lead! Jermaine Defoe does it all by himself as he shields the ball from Enrique before smashing the ball into the bottom right corner. Very good finish from the England international and that ends this match as a competitive contest.

65′
LIVE! That's been coming. Skrtel resorted to cynically preventing the runs of Bale late into the first half, and has now paid the price mid way through the second half. Any words from his manager at half time to stay calm were duly ignored, as the makeshift right-back recieves a deserved second yellow for chopping the Welsh winger down.

65′
That feels like the the first Liverpool shot for 40 minutes. Downing goes for goal from thirty yards, but his effort is tame and is easily saved by Friedel.

63′
Yellow/Red Martin Skrtel

63′
What more could go wrong for Liverpool?! They are now down to nine men! Martin Skrtel is the second man to receive his marching orders for another foul on Bale.

61′
Suarez steps up to take the free-kick that he won, but his curling effort goes comfortably wide of Friedel's left post.

60′
Could play by Suarez there to get the free-kick. The Uruguayan brings down a long-pass brilliantly before drawing a foul from Kaboul. Very dangerous position here.

59′
Big chance for Spurs there as Adebayor and Defoe attack the Liverpool backline, but Adebayor's finish from a tight angle is very poor as he effectively passes the ball to Reina.

58′
Suarez attempted an over-head kick as an Enrique throw-in somehow reaches him, but Spurs defend well and Assou Ekotto clears.

56′
Reina forced into a save there as Bale shoots from the left, but one could argue Assou Ekotto and Adebayor were both in better positions.

54′
The Spurs midfield - and Walker - are still controlling this match as a contest. Lucas, Henderson and Downing have barely touched the ball so far in this second half as Modric dictates the tempo of the match.

51′
Liverpool claiming for a penalty there as Assou-Ekotto helps Carroll on to the floor, but the big striker made a big deal of nothing.

50′
Liverpool have been absolutely hopeless at clearing the ball after breaking down a Spurs attack. They have also been massively wasteful in possession in the midfield.

47′
Great bit of play there from Spurs. Walker again caused problems down the right before cutting the ball inside to Adebayor who shifted the ball on first time, but Defoe misses the target by very little. The attacker was called offside, but TV replays show he was in fact onside.

46′
Substitution Niko Kranjcar Rafael van der Vaart

46′
We're back underway at White Hart Lane as Rafael Van der Vaart replaces the slightly-injured Niko Kranjcar.

Halftime at White Hart Lane. Spurs have dominated and are great value for their 1-0 lead but will be disappointed they couldn't add to that brilliant Modric strike.

45′ +4
Yellow Card Luis Suárez

45′
Spurs probably should have done better there. Walker was released down the right flank and he charged past Enrique, but delayed his final ball and eventually it cannoned off a Liverpool defender. Had he acted earlier, he could have cut the ball back to any one of three Spurs attackers.

43′
LIVE! Sebastian Coates is a lucky boy. Emmanuel Adebayor seemed clean through on goal after beating the centre-back for pace, only for the 20-year-old debutant to catch him late. If Liverpool had 11 men on the field, that may well have been a straight red.

42′
Two great chances for Spurs there! From the first corner, Defoe accrobatically got his foot to the ball at the far post but Enrique put it behind for another set-play. From that corner, Kaboul put a header just wide. Spurs have completely dominated this first half.

41′
The free-kick was poor as it hits the wall and goes out for a corner.

40′
Yellow Card Sebastián Coates

39′
This time it's Coates in the book! The young Uruguayan given the yellow card for a wild tackle on Adebayor as he was baring down on goal. Luckily the defender had teammates with him otherwise he would have been walking. Another free-kick in a good position, surely Spurs will get one on target?

36′
Yellow Card Martin Skrtel

36′
Another yellow card produced by referee Mike Jones, this time Skrtel is the recipient, and that could end up being key. Bale has looked dangerous in the opening 36 minutes and will fancy his chances up against a makeshift full-back on a yellow card.

35′
LIVE! Kenny Dalglish is gradually becoming more irate on the touchline here at White Hart Lane as another refereeing decision goes against his side. Unless his team show some sort of remarkable improvement, no doubt his officiating complaints will be set to continue.

34′
Once again, a fairly poor effort from the Welshman. He cleared the wall this time, but smashes the ball over.

33′
Spurs have another free-kick in a dangerous are as Defoe's footwork draws a foul. Bale will hope to do better than last time.

30′
LIVE! Nice bit of management from Kenny Dalglish there, bringing on substitue Coates for Agger whilst the debutant is yet to be ready. Unfortunately his attempts to break up Spurs dominant play are immediately undone by Charlie Adam's red card.

28′
Yellow/Red Charlie Adam

28′
And Liverpool are down to ten men! Charlie Adam receives his second yellow card and his marching orders as he clatters Scott Parker with a studs-up tackle. It was late and was always going to get him a yellow card. Everything is going Spurs' way here.

27′
Substitution Daniel Agger Sebastián Coates

27′
It looks as though that earlier injury for Agger has paid it's toll and Sebastian Coates comes on for his debut. Will it be a baptism of fire for the young Uruguayan?

25′
Liverpool really are struggling to create anything here. Downing is the latest playing to try as he looks to beat Walker, but the young full-back back-heels the ball back on to Downing and Spurs get a goal-kick. The hosts are the only side that look like scoring so far.

24′
Yellow Card Emmanuel Adebayor

22′
Spurs are looking very confident on the attack here and this time Adebayor goes for goal, striking from 25 yards with his left foot, but the attempt goes over Reina's bar by a yard or two.

21′
LIVE! There support may be in full voice, but this Liverpool side need to quickly find theirs. An effort rightly declared offside has been the only glimmer of hope so for, with Andy Carroll absent up top and Charlien Adam simply ran ragged by Luka Modric and Scott Parker in midfield

18′
Liverpool thought they had equalised there, but Suarez was called offside! The Spurs defence got themselves into a messy situation and Carroll flicked the ball on to Suarez, but the goal was correctly ruled out.

14′
Spurs are in absolute control here.Firstly Modric goes close again as his low left-footed shot forces Reina into a good save down to his left, and then Kranjcar got on to the rebound before looking for Defoe, but his chipped cross was just a bit too long.

12′
Yellow Card Charlie Adam

11′
Daniel Agger is struggling with a knock at the moment. He is back on the pitch momentarily, but Sebastian Coates could be called on.

8′
LIVE! That is how to do it! Modric may have endured a turbulent summer as he angled for a move away from White Hart Lane, but any relations that had been frayed with the Tottenham faithful surely will have been mended by that wonderful strike.

7′
Goal Luka Modric

7′
GOAL!!!! What a goal!!! Luka Modric smashed the ball into the top far corner from 20 yards after Defoe was dispossessed on the edge of the box. That was some goal.

5′
Spurs have started with intent here. This time, Modric released Bale down the left wing and he surged away from Skrtel before playing in a decent low cross, but Carragher followed Defoe and made a last-ditch tackle as the striker looked to clip the ball goalwards.

3′
Great chance for Adebayor! Kranjcar got on the end of a Liverpool flick-on before dinking the ball on the volley to Adebayor, but the Togolese striker could only put the ball wide of the far post from just inside the area. Brilliant chance, should have hit the target.

1′
And we're underway at White Hart Lane!

LIVE: A friendly welcome from Van der Vaart for fellow Dutchman Dirk Kuyt, with both players seemingly more interested in a quick catch-up as the players make their way onto the pitch - no doubt frustrated by their place on their respective benches.

LIVE: Spurs have beaten today’s opponents 2-1 in their past three meetings at White Hart Lane, and goals are once again likely, with there being no goalless draw between these two sides in 15 meetings. Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher will have to extra vigilant in defence this afternoon, have scored three own goals against Tottenham in total, equalling his career record of strikes in the correct goalmouth.

Our man at White Hart Lane, Andrew Kennedy will be providing regular updates throughout the match, and here are his first two: Kenny Dalglish recalls Andy Carroll to the Liverpool starting XI in place of Dirk Kuyt, in an otherwise unchanged line-up from the side that tasted defeat away to Stoke City last weekend. Ledley King is deemed fit enough to play consecutive games for Tottenham after helping his side to a clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Wolves, although Sunday’s clash comes too early for Rafael van der Vaart, who is yet to fully shake off the hamstring injury he picked up against Manchester City.

Andy Carroll looks set for only his second league start this season. He'll be hoping to build on his modest Premier League goalscoring record at Liverpool after netting just twice in 11 matches.
