Arsene Wenger has to deal with a host of injuries and suspensions this early in the season, with Thomas Vermaelen being ruled out of action for nearly two months following ankle surgery. He joins Sebastien Squillaci (calf), Kieran Gibbs (hamstring), Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby (both ankle) in the treatment room.
Bacary Sagna missed the humbling against Manchester United due to illness, and is expected to return for this fixture. Meanwhile, Gervinho, Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song are suspended for this game.
Gibbs' absence means that Andre Santos should make his debut for the club, while Per Mertesacker is also expected to line up in the back four. Mikel Artera will be expected to wear the Gunners' shirt for the first time.
Park Chu-Young is still new to the Premier League and would likely start from the bench for this one.
Brendan Rodgers does not have as many injury and suspension related problems as his counterpart, but will miss the services of Ferry Bodde (knee) and Alan Tate (broken leg).
Garry Monk was with the reserves after returning from a foot injury that kept him out of the club's pre-season, and remains a doubt for the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

DID YOU KNOW? |
- The two sides last played each other in the 1982-83 season, when Arsenal did the double over their opponents. In both games the north London club won by a 2-1 scoreline.

- But in the 1981-82 season, however, it was the Swans who did the double over the hosts by beating them 2-0 on both occasions.
- This will be the first time that these two sides are playing each other since the inception of the Premier League.
- The Gunners are the first club in the history of the Premier League to have had three players sent off in their first three games of the season.
- They have also conceded 10 goals in their three league games, more than any other team in the top flight.
- Swansea are still looking for their first goal of the season, having fired blanks against Manchester City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland. But the last two games ended in goalless draws and they are above Wenger's men in the standings.

The former Everton man has a heavy burden to carry as he has comes in as a replacement following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. He will now have to help the Gunners pick up the pieces after a difficult start to the season.

The former Chelsea prospect was the top scorer for the Swans in the Championship last season, bagging 22 goals. But he has been unable to find the net this term and will need to break his - and his team's - goalscoring duck if they are to get anything out of this game.
Arsenal may be down, but they are far from out. Their two defeats came against Liverpool and Manchester United, though the humiliating loss at Old Trafford will live long in the memory.
The Gunners will now be looking to bounce back and claim their first victory of the season, and the visitors could be in for some trouble if the club's new signings click instantly.
