That late flurry of yellow cards by the way were all received as a result of Montenegro's goal celebrations. Wild.
90' + 4'
FULL TIME! England qualify for Euro 2012 at the top of Group G as a fantastic first half performance is sullied by a Wayne Rooney red and a thrown away lead. The result will not please Capello but his charges have done enough to get through. Montenegrin fans charge onto the field knowing they have clinched a playoff place and several of them rip up pieces of the pitch as a memento.
90' + 3'
Yellow Card Mirko Vučinić
90' + 3'
A thrown-in in the Montenegrin half but nobody is rushing to take it, both sides know they are happy with this result.
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Andrija Delibasic
90' + 2'
Yellow Card Milorad Pekovic
90' + 1'
Goal Andrija Delibasic
GOAL! Vukcevic does brilliantly to play Savic in down the right who floats it to the far post for Delibasic to head in past Joe Hart. Deserved on the basis of the second half and both sides have guaranteed their group position if the result stays the same.
Yellow Card Stevan Jovetic
Stevan Jovetic, who went down under Phil Jones' challenge in the first half, plays a clever one-two to break into the box and goes down under pressure from Gary Cahill. The ref rushes over to impart his decision and it is a yellow card for the midfielder for simulation. A poor dive.
Brilliant save! A shot from the edge of the area forces Hart down low to his left and he only just tips around his far post. Great work from the City keeper.
Montenegro really threatening now but an inswinging free kick from the right is well cleared by England. Remember, a draw would suit both sides tonight.
Another scare for the visitors as another cross headed back across goal is almost steered in by Delibasic's overhead kick. Moments later the flag goes up to the relief of Joe Hart's defence.
Hearts in England mouths as a coss from the right finds Delibasic but he opts to head back across goal instead of at Joe Hart and this allows England's defence to clear.
The corner is flapped at by Bozovic and Stewart Downing has time and space to run onto it but half volleys over when he might have done better.
Frank Lampard hits the corner off the wall to gain a corner.
Welbeck does brilliantly to run from his own half beating three men and win a free-kick at the edge of the Montenegro box. Pressure relieved by the young substitute.
Left back Bozovic is replaced Delibasic. Can Montenegro capitalise on their numerical advantage?
Can England hold on now with just ten men? A draw will do and they may feel they have two much defensively to allow Montenegro in twice to wreck their Euro 2012 qualification hopes.
Danny Welbeck replaces Theo Walcott.
Red Card Wayne Rooney
RED CARD! Wayne Rooney kicks out wildly after losing out in a physical battle and is sent for an early bath by the referee. Absolute insanity from the forward in a crucial tie here. He will now miss part of the Euro 2012 tournament if England manage to hold on.
Theo Walcott, who hasn't had the best of evenings, runs into two Montenegrin defenders charging in from the right.
Jovetic's run to the edge of the England box is stopped well by a sliding tackle. England still looking control despite Montenegro's increase in the possession share.
Given the fact that Wales currently lead the Swiss, both sides could seal 1st and 2nd place here with a draw. Can't imagine England wanting to let in any late sympathy goals here though.
England also make a change withdrawing Darren Bent for Frank Lampard. Wayne Rooney moves up top and is unfortunate to miss getting on the end of a ball into the box just moments later.
Damjanovic comes on to replace Beciraj for the hosts. Strange move for me considering Beciraj's impressive performance thus far.
A long ball looks to have deceived Gary Cahill but he improvises brilliantly to head it away lying on his front after slipping.
Ashley Young removed for Stewart Downing. The United winger appears to be nursing an injury.
Yellow Card Milan Jovanović
Jones and Walcott combine well on the right and the Arsenal man is cynically brought down when the opportunity to speed away presents itself. Jovanovic is booked for the challenge and will now miss his side's next clash.
Incredibly, Montenegro's goal was the first England have conceded in the penalty area for their entire Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. They were the only team that held that remarkable record up until today.
Respite for England as they keep the ball for longer than they have all half, they must build on this and attempt to match their possession work from the first half.
Montenegro much improved from the first half and Fabio Capello will not be enjoying this start to the half much at all.
Beciraj beats Ashley Cole not once but twice but cannot wrap his left foot around the ball sufficiently to send his effort goal-ward. Good run by the midfielder.
Gary Cahill penalised for a poor challenge from behind near the centre circle. England feathers ruffled.
Goodness me, nervy moment for England. Jovetic ghosts into the box at the back post on the left hand side and is challenged clumsily by Phil Jones, everyone in the stadium believes it's a penalty except Jones and, crucially, the referee. A let off for the visitors.
England's turn to show their defensive skills as they hold out against a growing Montenegrin threat.
Walcott bursts into the box after a one-two with Rooney and it takes a fantastically timed Jovanovic tackle to halt his progress.
Chance for the hosts! Beciraj finds space on the left hand side of the England area and cuts inside to shoot low and hard. His effort has Joe Hart scrambling and the keeper has to collect it at the second attempt. England must be careful.
Young's free kick from that foul is poor and straight into the keeper's hands.
A one-two between the Ashleys (Cole and Young) wins a free kick when the former is brought down. Nice position for England here.
A long ball forward by Montenegro is headed up and away by Cahill but then Scott Parker gets absolutely clattered jumping for the follow up to win a free kick.
Montenegro get the match back underway and have brought on Milan Jovanovic (not formerly of Liverpool) on for Kascelan.
Goal Elsad Zverotić
HALF TIME! England superior for so much of the first-half but just how angry will Fabio Capello be at the poor defending which has given the hosts a lifeline. All to play for in the second half.
GOAL! Against the run of play but England were far too lax in defending. Ashley Cole fails to prevent a cross into the box and Zverotic is given the freedom of the area to steer a deflected strike past Joe Hart. Montenegro back in this.
Barry tries to play in Ashley Young on the left but miscues his pass straight to a Montenegro defender. Wasted opportunity to increase the lead there.
Phil Jones fouled again during another foray into the Montenegrin half. The Manchester United defender has been a real thorn in the host's side so far tonight with an impressive performance so far at right-back.
The home crowd have been silenced by England's display. Capello will be more than pleased with his side's work so far.
Walcott bursts into the hosts' box but falls at the vital moment to lose possession. Rooney played the Arsenal man in yet again and is really pulling the strings here.
Ashley Young causing havoc again as he commits a defender with a clever step over but balloons the subsequent cross out of play on the opposite side.
Montenegro exploiting the crossfield ball over Jones' shoulder again but Vucinic hand balls it in controlling and wastes the opportunity.
England with a real cushion and they'd have to put on quite some horrorshow now to forfeit qualification for Euro 2012.
Goal Darren Bent
GOAL! Darren Bent justifies his selection by passing Ashley Young's cross in from fives yards. Wayne Rooney the architect as his delightful through ball to Young split the Montenegrin defence.
Montenegrin confidence growing as Jones is easily beaten by Bozovic but the cross is (thankfully for the hosts) cleared.
Montenegro have another opportunity as Jovetic swings the clearance back in but the resulting header is high and wide and doesn't challenge Joe Hart.
Bozovic (the other one, not the keeper) swings in a cross which Ashley Cole can only divert out for the corner. The host's first spell of pressure however is cleared well by England.
Too casual from England as a loose pass allows Montenegro to collect a throw-in in the opposition half.
Phil Jones meets an Ashley Young corner with a powerful header but it bounces off his own man away to safety.
Stevan Jovetic thinks he has found space in front of the England back four but is challenged fairly and rather firmly by Gareth Barry.
The visitor's knocking it about casually and looking in no rush to get a second goal.
Jones does well to watch a ball over his shoulder and gets it back to Joe Hart safely with Jovetic sprinting behind him.
Barry and Parker working very well as a deep lying partnership here. England looking very solid in the middle and both are taking part in launching attacks.
Bent wins a flick-on but is adjudged to have moved back from an offside position and is flagged by the linesman. Respite for the hosts.
Darren Bent runs the channels down the right and his ball across the box is scrambled away by the Montenegrin defence.
From OptaJoe on Twitter: 4 - Ashley Young is England's top scorer since the end of the 2010 World Cup (all in 2011). Dangerman
More patient work with the ball here and England are showing just how much they have improved through this qualifying campaign.
Ashley Young finds space again but cannot find former Villa team mate Darren Bent's run and gives possession back to the hosts.
Ashley Young makes a sprint down the left but hits the ball too long to catch it. He appeals to the referee for a shirt tug but nothing given by the officials.
Nervous moment for England as Joe Hart leaves his box to hack away a loose ball but almost slips. Almost an undeserved way back into the match for Montenegro.
Goal Ashley Young
GOAL! And there is that cushion! England work the ball brilliantly and Walcott, moving wide and collecting a Rooney pass, swings in a fantastic cross to the back post which is nodded in by the arriving Ashley Young. Great start for the Three Lions.
A very calm start by England, they are keeping possession well but will want the cushion of a goal even though they can draw here tonight.
The host's best moment as Vukcevic and Vucinic (say that ten times forwards and backwards) combine to play the latter into the England box but he is dispossessed well by Cahill.
Montenegro really struggling to keep the ball here as a long pass gives Vucinic no chance to control.
Darren Bent brilliantly knocks down a cross into the path of Theo Walcott but the Arsenal man's shot is relatively tame and is pushed away by Bozovic.
The hosts doing well to defend their lines here but they'll want a bit more of the ball if they're going to stop the England charge tonight.
Another corner for England almost comes to something as Ashley Young's shot is deflected just wide of the Montenegro goal.
England can't manage to create from the corner but are bossing possession here early on.
Moving on from fashion-chat, England have an early chance as Phil Jones skips past his man on the right and puts a cross in which Bozovic has to push over the bar.
England wearing their rather Oxbridge-esque new away kit tonight, Montenegro in their home Red and Yellow kit.
England start the match with Bent and Rooney.
Two impressively observed anthems there as the rain teems down in Montenegro. You get the feeling that no matter how bad the weather gets Capello will not be reaching for a brolley.
Both sets of players lined up for the national anthems now. Let's hope for no booing.
Raining hard tonight in Podgorica and the surface will certainly need it considering concerns raised over the length of the grass.
From Opta Stats' Twitter: 13 - Joe Hart has made more international appearances for England without losing a game than any other player since Euro 96. Unbeatable
The host's danger men that England and Fabio Capello will certainly be aware of are Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic and Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic. Two fantastic players who will have to be marshalled well if England are to get through tonight.
Much talk today over whether Bobby Zamora was set to make his first England start however Darren Bent has been chosen to lead the line here in Montenegro. Phil Jones has fought off competition from Kyle Walker and Micah Richards to slot in at right-back.
England: Hart; Jones, Terry, Cahill, Cole; Barry, Parker; Walcott, Rooney, Young; Bent Subs: Carson, Jagielka, Baines, Lampard, Downing, Welbeck, Zamora.
Montenegro: Mladen Bozovic; Zverotic, Djudovic, Savic, Kascelan; Vukcevic, Pekovic, Vladimir Bozovic, Beciraj, Jovetic; Vucinic. Subs: Blazic, Jovanovic, Batak, Djalovic, Damjanovic, Cetkovic, Delibasic.
