    Luca Castellazzi

Tremendous in the second half. Pulled off three great saves in the space of six minutes late in the game. Had virtually nothing to do in the first period.

  • Davide Santon
    72

    3.00

    Davide Santon

Overshadowed by Maicon on the other flank tonight. Was not much of a threat in attack and had almost nothing to do in defence.

  • Andrea Ranocchia
    95
    103
    3.00

    Andrea Ranocchia

Not a great first start with Inter. It was not just the penalty. Ranocchia struggled with his marking and tackling and his rather comical clearance in the 44th minute really says it all. Made Materazzi look calm, balanced and world-class. He might have to buckle down as he could face Ribery in a month's time.

  • Marco Materazzi
    117

    3.00

    Marco Materazzi

It is hard to tell whether he was good, or Ranocchia was bad. The ex-Italy international looked very composed at the back and rarely put a foot wrong all night.

  • Maicon
    192
    7
    3.50

    Maicon

Maicon is coming back to form and he played at a very high level tonight as well. Provided the assist for Mariga's strike, and Eto'o's second and was very dangerous down his flank.

  • McDonald Mariga
    186

    3.00

    McDonald Mariga

Worked hard in midfield tonight and covered a lot of ground. Scored with a bullet of a header and this goal proved to be the winner in the end.

  • Esteban Cambiasso
    126
    11
    3.50

    Esteban Cambiasso

Has been playing in a more advanced role recently and did not disappoint tonight. Made a few good passes, but nothing special really.

  • Javier Zanetti
    129

    Javier Zanetti

As always looked active down the flank and made a couple of good runs. Once again, old is gold.

  • Sulley Muntari
    95
    38
    2.50

    Sulley Muntari

Childish reaction to his substitution which ruined a decent performance from the Ghana international. Provided the assist for Eto'o's first and had a wonderful crack at goal just before the ex-Barcelona man's second.

  • Samuel Eto'o
    257
    12
    3.50

Samuel Eto'o Top of the Match

Superbly took his two goals, proving that he is still among the top five strikers in the world. Brimming with confidence tonight. Watch out, Bayern.

  • Goran Pandev
    117
    39
    2.50

    Goran Pandev

Did not offer much in attack tonight as his final-ball was poor more often than not. Tried hard, but it did not really work out for him in this game.

Came on for Eto'o and put in an energetic cameo.

  • Jonathan Biabiany

    Jonathan Biabiany

Did not really dazzle after coming on for Sulley Muntari.

  • Alessio Scarpi

    Alessio Scarpi

Beaten easily for the second goal, but aside from that incident, he should not take any blame. Helpless for Mariga's impeccable header.

  • Rafinha
    9
    12
    3.00

    Rafinha

Did not have much to do defensively as Inter attacked mostly down the right, but still struggled to make his presence felt in the final third.

  • Emiliano Moretti
    14
    11
    2.50

Emiliano Moretti Flop of the Match

Downright horrible. At fault for both of Eto'o's goals. Struggled all night in almost every possible department, a game to forget for the ex-Valencia and Juventus man.

  • Dario Dainelli
    5
    4
    2.50

    Dario Dainelli

The better of the two centre-halves which is not saying much. Actually had very little to do tonight, which is strange, considering that his team conceded three goals. Showed good tackling and positioning, but could have organised the defence better for Mariga's strike.

  • Domenico Criscito
    12
    6
    3.50

    Domenico Criscito

Had a few good runs down the flank tonight, but the bottom line is he did not have a great game. Caught like a deer in the headlights for Eto'o's opener and was equally disorientated for the ex-Barcelona's striker's second.

  • Houssine Kharja
    15
    5
    3.00

    Houssine Kharja

Put up quite a fight in midfield tonight with some good tackles and commanding presence. Scored a good penalty before being replaced by Palacio as Genoa were looking for a way back in the game.

  • Miguel Veloso
    27
    7
    3.00

    Miguel Veloso

Very active tonight and showed his trademark work-rate. Provided good delivery from set-pieces, culminating in Giuseppe Sculi's strike.

  • Juraj Kucka
    37
    6
    3.00

    Juraj Kucka

Offered fairly little in attack, but tried to get involved tonight. Did not receive much support either.

  • Enej Jelenic
    7
    6
    2.50

    Enej Jelenic

One wonders why Ballardini would line up three youngsters against the World Club Champions. Almost invisible in the first half and substituted at half-time.

  • R. Boakye
    8
    7
    3.00

    R. Boakye

Looked very active in attack, but still managed to make the best out of the very few chances he was presented with.

  • Gergely Rudolf
    17
    7
    2.50

    Gergely Rudolf

As the most experienced striker for Genoa in the starting line-up he tried to lead by example, but did not really succeed. Had one good run (8th minute) and won a penalty for his team, but offered fairly little besides that.

Substitutions

  • Giandomenico Mesto
    9
    5
    3.00

    Giandomenico Mesto

Came for Jelenic and was a big improvement over the youngster. Made a few good runs and offered some decent crosses. Forced Castellazzi into a fine save one minute before time.

  • Rodrigo Palacio
    16
    6
    3.00

    Rodrigo Palacio

Injected much needed dynamism in Genoa's attack with his pace and lively gameplay. Had one good shot saved by Castellazzi in the 83rd to add to a couple of good runs down the flank.

  • Giuseppe Sculli
    11
    5
    2.50

    Giuseppe Sculli

Scored a decent goal and made a nuisance of himself. One wonders why he did not start in the first place.
