90′ +3
AND IT IS OVER! Messi magic crushed Brazil's hearts in injury time! Oh, what joy for the Argentinian who record heir first win against Brazil in quite some time. Batista's first game in charge after officially being confirmed as the national coach of Argentina could not have gone any better. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Join us this weekend for Goal.com's live coverage of the biggest games in the world of football. Bye, for now!

90′ +2
Goal Messi
GOAL! MESSI SCORES! HIS FIRST EVER GOAL AGAINST BRAZIL! The Barcelona man was released by Ezequil Lavezzi with a wonderful backheel, burst past Leiva, side-stepped past David Luiz, advanced in the box, and finished superbly through Thiago Silva's legs and in the low right corner.

90′ +2
Yellow Card Messi

90′
Suspicions of elbowing from Heinze on the right side of the box, but the referee decides against giving a penalty. There will be two minutes of injury time.

89′
LAVEZZI! The Napoli striker went on a marvellous run, skipping past two player, side-stepping past David Luiz, before finally being dispossessed by Lucas Leiva. Lavezzi has been extremely hard working tonight.

88′
ALVES! The wing-back nutmegged Mascherano near the byline on the right and found Robinho in the penalty area semi-circle, but the Milan man could not quite control with his first touch, and as a result his subsequent pass was poor, too and Brazil lost the ball.

86′
Ramires makes way for Jucilei. It was certainly an eventful game for the Chelsea man.

85′
Substitution Ramires Jucilei

85′
ROBINHO! The striker let it fly from the left wing, just outside the box, but his shot flew high and wide of the top right corner the Brazilian went for.

83′
MESSI! OH, WHAT A RUN! Wonderful play from Zanetti! The Inter man released Messi just outside the box, the Barcelona man cleverly tip-toed the ball past David Luiz and burst ahead of Ramires' challenge in the box, but Thiago Silva made an impeccable tackle to dispossess the Argentinian, and Daniel Alves cleared the ball from right side of the penalty area.

81′
The game is stopped as the stewards struggle to remove a fan from the pitch. If only Ramires could chase him down and tackle him the way he can ....

79′
Daniel Alves takes a free-kick 30 yards in front of goal, but his dipping shot flies over the bar.

77′
Substitution Neymar André

77′
Andre replaces Neymar. Dorky haircuts are the order of the day as it seems.

76′
Lavezzi clears his delivery from near the penalty spot. The Napoli man has been showcasing his superb work-rate so far and this aspect of his game might prove to be crucial later in the game.

75′
Neymar is brought down by Heinze on the right, just outside the box. Daniel Alves is going to take the free-kick.

73′
Substitution Ronaldinho Douglas

73′
Douglas replaces Ronaldinho. I, for one, would have really liked to see more of the Brazilian as he was having a good game.

72′
David Luiz fouls Lavezzi yet again. One of the main cons of the young Brazilian is his recklessness and he risked being booked if goes on like that.

70′
Substitution Javier Pastore A. D'Alessandro

70′
Javier Pastore makes place for Andres D'Alessandro. The ex-Zaragoza man has had a turn of fortune since he moved back to South America to play for Internacional.

69′
Elias with a rough challenge on Messi on the left, just outside the box. Nothing came out of this set-piece, though.

67′
Ronaldinho with a free-kick on the left ..... Romero claims his low delivery just ahead of Thiago Silva.

65′
Lavezzi has been on the receiving end of a very physical approach from both David Luiz and Ramires. He is no Merry Poppins, so we might see him booked at a point.

63′
ROBINHO! The striker collected the ball after Neymar lost it to a rather hard tackle by Burdisso, turned and sent in a low finish for the right corner, which Romero did superbly to parry. He was flagged for offside anyway.

61′
Ramires tries to bicycle-kick outside the box, but fails miserably as his shot flew high over the bar. The midfield should probably stick to what he does best - tackling and running, and leave the finesse play to his attacking team mates.

60′
Yellow Card Javier Mascherano

59′
Well, that was a weird decision from Ramires! Daniel Alves put in a wonderful cross from the right for the completely unmarked Ramires and Ronaldinho in the box, but the Chelsea man decided to go for the ball, despite being in the more difficult position to do so than the Milan man, and headed it down to the penalty spot for, admittedly, no one.

57′
PASTORE! Was that a handball? Lavezzi put in a precise cross from the byline on the left, Victor palmed the ball poorly and it fell to Di Maria, who teed it up for Pastore's whose shot allegedly met by Daniel Alves' hand in the box. Benefit of the doubt given here, too.

55′
Messi and Pastore combine superbly in the penalty area semi-circle, but the Barcelona star loses possession rather easily to David Luiz.

53′
THIAGO SILVA! Ronaldinho bent the pass superbly for the overlapping Thiago Silva on the box, but the defender just could not reach the ball in the air.

52′
Pareja brings down Robinho on the left wing, just otuside the box. An excellent opportunity for Ronaldinho to make waves.

50′
Benefit of the doubt given here. Neymar was released through on goal by Ramires, but the assistant referee waved his flag for offside. A close one, indeed.

48′
Higuain was replaced by Ezquiel Lavezzi at half-time. The Real Madrid man did not have the best of games in the first half, but he was admittedly deprived of service and his substitution is a little harsh on him.

46′
Substitution Gonzalo Higuaín Ezequiel Lavezzi

46′
The second half begins.

45′ +2
The referee blows the half-time whistle! There have been no goals so far in this friendly, but there was plenty of excitement in the first period. Alves hit the bar for Brazil and Messi shaved the crossbar shortly after for Argentina, and it seems to me that we are set for some marvellous football after the pause. Will it be Brazil or Argentina tonight? Join us after the break half to find out!

45′ +1
ALVES! The wing-back was fed by Ronaldinho on the right, and let it fly from just outside the box, but his rather meek shot was saved by Sergio Romero. There will be one minute of injury time.

45′
NEYMAR AGAIN! The striker went on a run on the left and managed to bypass Zanetti, but his cross from near the byline was blocked by Nicolas Pareja and easily claimed by Sergio Romero.

44′
NEYMAR! Ronaldinho put in a delightful through-ball for Neymar in the box, but Sergio Romero was fast off his line and claimed the ball.

42′
Argentina are in ascendancy now as they are pushing for the opener. Can Brazil hit them on the counter?

40′
MESSI! SO CLOSE, SO CLOSE! The Argentinian found the ball on the volley just outside the box, but his fierce shot fizzled near the top left corner. That would have been a great goal!

39′
RONALDINHO! Good shot! Sergio Romero, however, pulls off an incredible save to stop the Brazilian's right corner-bound free-kick.

38′
Better from Neymar as he wins a free-kick for Brazil on the edge of the box. Who us going to take it?

36′
Neymar goes down theatrically under a challenge from Nicolas Pareja on the left side of the box. The striker certainly overplayed the situation and this was just one of the things that have not gone well for him so far.

34′
It has been an end-to-end affair so far and the game is in stark contrast to what we used to see from Dunga's Brazil and Maradona's Argentina.

32′
MESSI! The Barcelona star showed some great interplay with Pastore just outside the box, but the Palermo's man looping pass was a little overhit and Messi was second to the ball to Thiago Silva.

30′
HIGUAIN! The striker found himself face to face with Victor on the left side of the six-yard box and let it fly, but the goalkeeper blocked his effort. Even if it had gone in, it would not have counted as Gabriel Heinze was adjudged to have been in an offside position.

28′
HIGUIAN! The striker was released on the left, advanced in the penalty box, but was forced wide and his cross from the byline was tipped over for a corner kick on the left.

27′
Wonderful play by Brazil! First Robinho and Andre Santos showed some great interplay on the left wing, and then Ronaldinho showed us why he is still held in high regard with a double backheel flick. Daniel Alves latched onto the subsequent pass from the ex-Barcelona man, but was crowded out in near the penalty box.

25′
It has been an intriguing period of domination for Brazil, and the Seleccao might regret not putting away the chances they were presented with.

23′
RONALDINHO WITH THE BACKHEEL! The Milan man found himself on the end of a deflected ball around the penalty spot and backheeled the ball in the air, but the shot was too weak to trouble Sergio Romero.

22′
MASCHERANO ALMOST SCORES AN OWN GOAL! Robinho ran down the left and put in a low cross in the box from the byline. Mascherano, under no pressure at all, almost scored a own goal as he found the ball rather awkwardly in his efforts to clear the danger.

21′
DAVID LUIZ! Alves took a free-kick on the left and out in a great delivery in the box, but David Luiz's glancing header flew over the bar!

19′
ALVES HITS THE BAR! The Barcelona man was granted with a glorious chance on the right side of the box and found the ball on the volley, but it rebounded off the bar! That should have been 0-1.

17′
RONALDINO! What a turn! The Milan man received the ball just inside Argentina's half and showed some fast feet, turning his back on Mascherano's challenge, and burst past Banega and later found Robinho, who could not quite shoot from distance.

15′
Every football fan is aware of the great rivalry between Brazil and Argentina, and it is safe to say that no one sees this game as a friendly. Both sides will be keen to impress as both failed to make an impact at the World Cup this year.

13′
NEYMAR! Oh, what a horrible first touch! Alves went on a mesmerising run down the right and put in a 30 yard cross for Neymar in the box, but the striker could not control the ball and it went out for a goal kick.

11′
Argentina have looked somewhat sloppy in possession which is strange with players like Pastore, Messi and Higuain in their ranks. In all honesty, however, Brazil are not doing better either.

9′
Messi goes on a trademark run, but is stopped by David Luiz with a timed tackle. The Benfica man has been improving at a rapid pace in Portugal and is tipped to become the successor of Lucio. Unless a certain Breno has something to say about that.

7′
ZANETTI! The veteran received the ball on the right, jinked past Andre Santos in the box and let it fly, but his powerful strike fizzled past the right post!

5′
ANDRE SANTOS! Ronaldinho took a free-kick on the left, around 30 yards from goal, but hit the wall. The rebound fell to Andre Santos, whose first-time volley flew narrowly wide of right top corner.

3′
DI MARIA! The Argentinian advanced in the box, managed to bypass Alves, but Thiago Silva dispossessed him near the penalty spot!

1′
And they are off!
