Did well to stop Dos Santos' shot in the first half. Merely a spectator in the second session.
Showed his determination by bagging his goal after following the rebound for his second of the tournament. Also sent in some lively crosses, while timing his tackles well in defence. His goal sends the Uruguay through to the last eight.
The star defender really frustrated Mexico inside the box. Cleared numerous crosses and closed down well. A dominate display.
A solid performance from the Benfica man. He wasn't afraid to go in strong. Showed his toughness and tenacity throughout the 90 minutes.
Was solid in the back, especially on set pieces. Cleared the ball well while remaining poised.
Showed some solid passing to link with attackers. Was a threat in the first half but faded a bit in the second period.
Not a great performance, but it wasn't poor either. Did what he had to do, moving the ball well from the middle of the pitch. Was taken off in the second half.
The midfielder passed the ball well down the flanks and also sent in some stellar through balls to Forlan. Made some crunching tackles.
The Atletico Madrid striker set up the first goal with his free kick and tested the goalkeeper with several shots from outside the box. Was denied by the post late in the first half. Really should have scored and sent several shots over the bar.
The Liverpool star did well early on to advance the ball. Also came back to the middle of the pitch to start the attack. A lively effort for the striker as he infiltrated the box on numerous occasions to set up his team-mates.
The Guadalajara goalkeeper was attentive in the first half, reacting well to grab crosses in the air, but not always on the ground. He should have done better on Uruguay's first goal, costing his team early. Did do well to keep a Suarez shot out before half-time. Made a few good saves in the second half.
The Monterrey man showed his passing ability on a few occasions. Mostly though he was poor. Not a great game for the defender.
Did well to dart up field to join the attack, but was beaten by Suarez a few times too many. Taken off at half-time.
Not much in the first half but came alive in the second. Moved forward with the ball to start the attack. Was the top player in the second half for the Mexicans. Was taken off with 20 minutes to go in a surprising substitution.
The veteran was a physical presence throughout the game, jumping high for balls and playing intelligent passes to his fellow defenders.
Could not get into a rhythm. Looked lost in the middle of the pitch as the team had trouble advancing.
The Cruz Azul youngster looked great for the first 45 minutes, marking the attackers well and positioning himself to clear out crosses from Suarez. Was decent in the second half, clearing out threats on numerous occasions. Very positive performance.
Didn't look comfortable at all. Sent poor passes forward and was blown by several times by Suarez.
Many won't remember him even playing. It was as if Mexico had 10 men with Enriquez failing to appear.

The Morelia attacker was hard to notice for the entire game. In the second session he had a few passes with the midfield but nothing else. Found the net late but was offside.
G. dos Santos
The former Barcelona man was taken off at half-time and rightfully so. He did nothing for his side other than test Muslera once.

Played the last 25 minutes, hitting the post after a pass from Suarez. Should have doubled the score but did well to get into position.
Played under 10 minutes. Ate a little time up and contained the ball well to waste more. Did not play long enough to make a real impact.

Replaced Ponce but failed to impress. Could not connect well with his team-mates. He also turned the ball over a few times.
