Free kick to the home side is lofted into the box. They're looking for McManus at the far post but Spain defend well and it looks as though there will be no fairytale ending for the Scots tonight.

WHITTAKER IS SENT OFF! The defender picks up a second yellow and Scotland will play the last few minutes with only 10 men.
Bardsley makes an important interception to prevent Alonso sliding in Villa. Meanwhile the Scots make a change with Maloney coming on for Morrison.
The home side win a free kick some 40 yards from goal. It's set up for a shot, the ball is touched to Adam who lets fly but he's quickly closed down and his effort is blocked.
Into the last 10 minutes and despite that remarkable comeback from Scotland they still look to be heading for defeat. Can they stun Spain for a third time tonight?

GOAL! Spain have the lead again! Capdevila sends ina deep cross and substitute Llorente takes it first time and guides it past McGregor!
Spain make a second change, off goes Silva, on comes Llorente.
McGregor saves again wtih his feet! Villa tees up substitute Pablo who tries to slide it past the 'keeper but nothing doing! Another important save from the Scotland shot stopper.
Kenny Miller catches Alonso and goes into the book, he can have no complaints about that one. The resulting free kick is whipped into the box but McManus manages to head behind his own goal for a corner.

Good save McGregor! The flag goes up eventually anyway but the Rangers man wasn't to know as the assistant referee took forever to make the decision. Silva sets up Villa from close range but he is denied by McGregor's boot and then the offside flag!
Spain have Scotland penned into the box but the home side defend well. The cross eventually comes in from the left but Busquets heads tamely over the bar.
Unbelievable stuff at Hampden Park! A cute backheel from Fletcher allows Morrison to cross and Pique diverts the ball past Casillas, for an own goal!!

GOAL! Would you believe it! Scotland have equalised! It's 2-2!!
Yet another lovely ball by Alonso finds Villa but McGregor is alive to the danger and comes racing out of his goal to head clear.
Scotland win a free kick out wide on the left. Dorrans swings it in but it's straight at Pique. The ball is sent back in but this time Silva volleys clear.

GOAL! Scotland are back in it! Miller crosses for Naismith who stoops to head past Casillas! Spain 2-1 Scotland.
Again Alonso and Villa are involved, they try to find Cazorla but the ball ends up with Iniesta who slides the ball under a diving McGregor for Spain's second of the night.
GOAL! Spain increase their lead as Iniesta makes it 2-0!
Another chance for Spain! Silva again has time and space to cross in from the right and he finds Cazorla who has sneaked into the box but his header is wide!
Good save McGregor! Another cross in finds Silva in acres of space in the box. He has time to chest the ball down and shoot but he can't beat the Rangers man who tips the ball around the post.
Some casual defending by the home side almost gets Scotland in trouble. A back pass catches McManus dawdling but he realises the dangers just in time to prevent Silva homing in on the ball.
As in the first half Craig Levein's men win an early corner. Dorrans takes, it's cleared but comes to substitute Adam outside the box who smashes a shot high over the bar.
Here we go again! One change to tell you about at the break, Charlie Adam is on for the Scots, he replaces Lee McCulloch otherwise it's as we were as the home side get this second half underway.
HALF-TIME! The penalty is the last action of the half as Spain head into the break 1-0 up courtesy of Villa's penalty.
GOAL! Villa steps up and scores, McGregor guesses the right way, gets a hand to it but can't stop it and Spain lead 1-0!

PENALTY TO SPAIN! Whittaker handles a Silva shot and Spain have a chance from the spot!
Chance on the counter for Miller! A long ball finds him running clear and suddenly Scotland have two on two! The striker tries to find Dorrans but his pass is poor and Spain can intercept!
Good block by McMacnus. Capdevila crosses for Villa, it's too high but falls for Silva who smashes a low shot which the defender blocks out for a corner.
Fletcher gets the Hampden faithful on their feet again. The Manchester United man robs Ramos before being flattened by Alonso and winning a free kick.
David Silva incurs the wrath of the Hampden faithful after a petty little spat with Dorrans. It should be a booking but the referee opts to keep his cards in his pocket, the home fans are no impressed.
Another super dinked pass by Alonso finds Silva in behind the Scotland defence and with only McGregor to beat. The Manchester City man has time to take a touch but rushes his shot, miscontrols the ball and the home side escape.
Another corner to the World Cup winners. Iniesta sends it in, Puyol gets his head on it but it's off target and the Scots have a goal kick.
Great save McGregor! Almost incessant pressure from Spain now. The ball is blasted into the box, comes fortuituosly to Villa who twists and turns before getting his shot away at close range but the 'keeper parries!
Iniesta pops up on the left this time and hurls in a cross which finds Ramos nipping in ahead of Whittaker but he can only send the ball over the bar.
Patient build-up by Spain results in Capdevila crossing from the left but McManus heading clear. However, the visitors regain possession and Scotland can't get out of their own half at the moment.
Another long ball has Miller on the chase again but he's beaten to it by Casillas. Still Scotland have been buoyed by that earlier Morrison chance which has lifted the crowd too.
Great chance for Scotland! Hampden comes alive as the home side fashion their first real chance of the night. Naismith does well down the left before crossing for Morrison but his shot is blocked by Capdevila! Puyol then hacks the ball clear and Spain escape!
Another save from McGregor! Alonso, Villa and Silva are at it again and this time Silva is the man to sting the goalkeeper's palms!
Another chance for Spain! Again the danger comes down the right, Silva picking out Villa in the box with a cross but his header is straight at McGregor.
What a chance for Villa! A super pass by Alonso finds the Barcelona man on the edge of the box. He takes a great touch before smashing a shot but he can't find the target! Let off for the home side.
Good move by Spain. Iniesta finds Silva who tees up the overlapping Sergio Ramos. The Real Madrid man gets into the box but then takes an age to decide what to do which allows McManus to get the block in and concede the corner.
The Scots win a free kick which is aimed towards McManus at the back post. However, there's just too much on it and a stretching McManus can't quite reach it so the ball runs harmlessly out of play.
The visitors enjoying plenty of possession, as you might, expect. Silva then tries a shot from the edge of the box but gets it all wrong and it flies into the stands much to the delight of the home fans.
Bardsley pings a long ball upto Miller to run onto but the flag is up and the striker is pulled back for offside.
The action switches to the other end and the World Cup winners have a corner. It's played short but comes to nothing and Scotland can regroup.
And we're off!! Bright start by the home side who win a corner which is hit towards the back post but Puyol manages to get enough of a touch on it to clear.
So some quick team news before we kick off. The Scots include a striker tonight with Kenny Miller recalled whilst Phil Bardsley makes his debut and Lee McCulloch is also included. For the visitors, Xabi Alonso is fit and Fernando Llorente drops to the bench.
