Belarus and Romania drew a blank at the Dinamo Stadion in Minsk on Tuesday evening.
Bernd Stange's side had defeated group favourites and European heavyweights France 1-0 in Paris on Friday and were expected to carry on their momentum against the Romanians at home but couldn't manage a goal.
Razvan Lucescu’s Romania had failed to beat Albania at home last week but will be satisfied with the one point gained as this was an away game for them.
In another Group D game, Albania defeated Luxembourg 1-0 at the Stadiumi Kombetar Qemal Stafa in Tirana. Hamdi Salihi scored the only goal of the game on 37 minutes.
