Russia cruise to a 2-0 victory over minnows Andorra to start their Euro 2012 campaign off with a vital three points. A double from Pavel Pogrebnyak, one in either half, made sure of the win.
Russia coach Dick Advocaat managed to keep the visitors perfect record intact against Andorra in qualifying competition, and the win gives Russia a solid base to work on with their up and coming fixture with Slovakia.
Pogrebnyak settled early nerves breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute. Russia had plenty of shots at goal but couldn't force the ball into the net to give them a necessary cushion.
Andorra looked dangerous on a couple of occasions but the inevitable happened just after the hour mark as Pogrebnyak converted a penalty to ensure the Russians took all the points they needed.
Russia will host Slovakia in their next fixture which will be a better test of things to come for Dick Advocaat's men. Andorra will face an uphill struggle against the Republic of Ireland.
