AND IT IS OVER! Germany recorded their first win of their Euro 2012 Qualifying campaign with a quiet, but efficient performance. Belgium were impressive throughout the ninety minutes, but ultimately fell victims to the ruthlessly efficient Germans. However, their team has shown much promise tonight almost winning against he Euro 2008 finalists, their fans will certainly encouraged by the performance put in by Dembele, Hazard and Bailly. Die Nationalelf continue their impressive major tournament qualifying campaign with a typical German win and they will certainly try to be first come the end of the rounds in their group. Germany take second place behind Turkey, while Belgium drop to fifth place. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev, and stay with Goal.com for the after-match material on this game.
90′ +2
There will be three minutes of injury time, three minutes for Belgium to equalise.
90′ +1
Germany are winding down the clock now, passing the ball around comfortably and trying to retain possession for as much as possible.
90′ +1
Yellow Card Cacau
Substitute Cacao is booked for taking down Vertonghen in the centre of the pitch. Do Belgium have more in the tank?
Substitution Mesut Özil Cacau
Could there be more goals for Germany? Die Nationalelf is waiting to hit Belgium on the counter in exactly the same way as they waited England in the World Cup before delivering a coup-de-grace.
Moments of domination for Belgium as they are going all guns blazing, searching for an equaliser. Loew is fuming near the touch line as Germany can no remove the ball from their half.
Substitution Timmy Simons Jelle Vossen
BENTEKE! Alderweireld whipped in a delightful cross from the left for Benteke in the penalty area, but the striker just could not reach the ball and the chance went begging. Could the taller Lukaku have headed the ball past Neuer?
The Belgium players seem short on stamina now, as Germany are bullying them in midfield and pass the ball around comfortably. I, for one, would be interested in the possession statistics for the second-half.
Schweinsteiger has really settled into the game, pulling all the strings in midfield. Fellaini has been mainly chasing shadows trying to dispossess the impressive German star.
A red card offence from Kompany who elbows Mueller in the centre-circle. It seemed intentional and the defender should have been perhaps sent off and ushered down the tunnel. The referee, however, is lenient.
Substitution Eden Hazard Steven Defour
Substitution Romelu Lukaku Christian Benteke
The young Lukaku is replaced by Christian Benteke and Eden Hazard makes way for Defour. Two minutes earlier Podolski left the pitch for Toni Kroos.
MUELLER! WONDERFUL SAVE BY BAILLY! Lahm went on a trademark run on the right, skipping past Alderweireld and waltzing past Vermaelen, before cutting the ball back from the byline for the overlapping Mueller near the penalty area semi-circle and the young starlet hits a stinging shot, which the goalkeeper spectacularly clears with his fingertips for a corner. The set-piece amounts to nothing, though.
Substitution Lukas Podolski Toni Kroos
The free-kick is taking too tong as the fans are eagerly anticipating it. Hazard takes it, but it hits the ball before going out. Hazard takes the corner kick, but Mertesacker easily outjumps everyone and clears the ball from the penalty box.
Wonderful opportunity for Belgium as Schweinsteiger brings down Dembele on the edge of the penalty area.
Dembele is having a wonderful game. Time and time again he is popping here and there leaving the German defenders for dead with his pace and sheer physicality. Lahm have not dispossessed him even once so far.
FELLAINI! HORRIBLE MISS! Hazard headed the ball from the right side of the penalty area to the midfielder, whose first-time volley from near the penalty spot goes high and wide yet again.
Fellaini has been having a sub-par game so far, but can his hypnotic Afro haircut help Belgium with some voodoo? Only time will tell ...
Hard tackle by Vertonghen on Khedira in the center of the pitch. The hosts' nerves are strained now as they are restrained to physical approach to deal with the Germans' forrays.
Belgium are stung by the goal and charge forward, looking for an equaliser. This goal was harsh on them, based on their first-half performance, but Germany did enough in the early minutes of the second half to claim the go-ahead goal.
There is one thing one has to admire about Klose - he is always there for his country to score even if he gets just one chance. He could have been abysmal for Bayern for three years, but he is always in his stride in the white of Die Nationalelf.
KLOSE! GERMANY TAKE THE LEAD! Van Buyten lost the ball to Mueller just outside the penalty area, the young starlet released Klose near the penalty spot with a gorgeous ball and the experienced hitman netted his first goal in Euro 2012 qualifying stage.
Goal Miroslav Klose
KLOSE! Schweinsteiger and Oezil combined on the right witht he Bayern Munich star firing a cross from near the corner flag from Klose in the box, it rebounds off Van Buyten, but is claimed by Bailly before in reaches Klose.
Germany are coming out of the blocks first as they try to impose their style on the resilient hosts. Belgium defend valiantly.
The second half starts! Westermann replaces Jansen for Germany.
Substitution Marcell Jansen Heiko Westermann
45′ +1
The one minute of injury time is through and the referee blows his whistle for half-time. Belgium have been the better side so far, trying to penetrate right, left and centre and they certainly did on a few occasions, but were unable to open the scoring. Germany seem lethargic and susceptible in defence with Badstuber in particular having a torrid time agains Lukaku, Dembele and Hazard. Germany captain seems to be having a bad night too as he is occasionally skinned by Dembele. Loew would better think of a Plan "B" as thing are not looking good for this year World Cup semi-finalist. Joins us after the break for the second half of this exciting game.
The game is drawing close to half-time with Belgium the one on the front foot. Meanwhile. Schweinsteiger is dubiously booked for dangerous play after he lifted his right foot above Alderweireld head to clear the ball. One minute of injury time will be played.
Yellow Card Bastian Schweinsteiger
DEMBELE! The striker received the ball in midfield, took a few steps and shot a thunderous low shot from 40 yards, aiming for the left corner, but Neuer managed to block and eventually claim the ball.
HAZARD! WHAT A RUN! The midfielder received the ball 50 yards from goal and went on a run to the penalty box, skipping past three challenges from Khedira, Badstuber and Jansen, before being dispossessed of the ball from Jansen as he was about to shoot at the goal.
KLOSE! Jansen crossed from the left for Klose in the penalty box, the striker could not reach the ball, but it rebounded off Kompany and bounced again off Klose's boot and over the bar, stroke of luck for Belgium here.
LUKAKU! OFFSIDE! Fellaini nutmegged Badstuber near the penalty area semi-cricle with a through-ball for Lukaku, who was rightly ruled to be in offside position before the pass.
Podolski has been wasteful with what has come his way so far, trying to do too much by himself and shooting from unrealistic distances. Carbon copy of his game against Serbia in the World Cup has been the definitive description of his performance so far.
Dembele was really active in the first minutes, but now seems isolated and rarely receives the ball. Waiting to hit Germany on the counter may spell disaster for Belgium.
After the initial scare Germany are showing their teeth and and have been dominating the game for the last five minutes. Will they break the deadlock?
Corner for Germany on the left. Short delivery from Schweinsteiger to Muller, the World Cup Golden Boot winner whips a cross in the penalty box, it is headed away by Van Buyten, but it falls to Podolski, whose low pile-driver from 40 yards misses wide of the right post.
LUKAKU! Vertonghen hit a marvellous 40 yard through-ball for Lukaku, who could not control the ball ahead of Badstuber and the Bayern Munich man cleared the ball for a throw-in. Moments earlier, Muller tested Bailly with a header at the near post, following an Oezil corner from the left.
DEMBELE! The striker has been giving Lahm a torrid time so far and did it again after he skinned the wing-back on the left hand side and cut in the penalty area, and found Fellaini near the penalty spot, but the midfield enforcer was dispossessed.
KHEDIRA! The midfielder latched onto a wonderful cross by Muller from the left, but the Real Madrid man's first-time volley from near the penalty box misses the target.
OEZIL! WHAT A MISS! Podolski ran down the left flank and whipped in a cross for Klose, who cleverly backheeled the ball in Oezil's path, but the midfielder shot from just outside the penalty area goes high and wide. Best chance of the game so far.
We are watching end to end stuff now as both sides are pressing for an opener. Belgium, however, seem to have the edge now as they have been the more dangerous of the two teams so far.
OEZIL! SO CLOSE! The Real Madrid playmaker received the ball just outside the penalty area semi-circle and let it fly, but his low shot fizzled near the right post!
LUKAKU! The striker skinned Jansen and Badstuber with a clever dummy on the right-hand side of the penalty area, cut in to the byline, drew Mertesacker, passed to Fellaini, but the midfielder's shot is blocked by Badstuber.
HORRIBLE TACKLE FROM KOMPANY! The defender clipped Klose from behind just out of the penalty area as the striker was breaking free from him and is rightfully booked. Schweinsteiger takes the free kick, but his dipping free-kick flies wide of the left post.
Yellow Card Vincent Kompany
Germany seem intimidated by the passionate Belgium fans, who sing and cheer on their team, encouraging them to push forward. Can Die Nationalelf catch them on the counter?
LUKAKU! The striker robbed Mertesacker off the ball in the center-circle and went on a run to the penalty area, before he went for the upper left corner of Neuer's goal with a powerful shot, which the goalkeeper was equal to.
Belgium are picking up momentum as they try to penetrate the German defence from the wings.
FELLAINI! Alderweireld waltzed by Jansen on the right and crossed for Fellaini near the penalty box, but the midfielder was well marked by Badstuber and could not aim his first-time volley better and the ball flew just over.
The game is being played at a really high tempo with neither team spending too much time on the ball. Both teams try to pressure the opposition in the centre of the pitch and Fellaini in particular is running his socks off now.
And they are off!
