Advantage Ajax
It finished 1-1 between Dynamo Kyiv and Ajax in the first-leg of this Champions League play-off tie and this means that the Dutch giants are in an advantageous position. A 0-0 draw at the Amsterdam Arena on Wednesday evening would be enough for them to go through to the group stage of the Champions League.
Ajax winger Urby Emanuelson is confident that they can make it through and told Uefa.com, "We are at home so we have an advantage. The lads are saying, 'Let's win 2-0, and then the season can start!' Of course we would like that. If we beat Dynamo, things should be good for us. We'll then be facing a very nice season."
Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg too is high on confidence and said, "Dynamo are a good team and it will be very difficult for us, but we have faith in our abilities. We prepared very well before the start of the season, and now we are in good physical shape.
"They have to come forward because they need a goal, so I'm sure we'll have more space and lots of chances to score."
Refusing To Abandon Hope
Failure to win at home and conceding an away to a side as a strong as Ajax is not something that one would be eager to show off but Dynamo Kyiv do have the potential to win in Amsterdam on Wednesday. The White-Blues have played in the group stage of the Champions League for the last four seasons in a row and are still confident of making it through this time.
Striker Andriy Shevchenko told Uefa.com after his side's 1-1 draw last week, "It was very important for us to keep a clean sheet. We didn't, but nevertheless I'm delighted with the standard of our football and considering the situation in the second half the result is good as well."
The former Milan and Chelsea forward also praised goalkeeper Maxym Koval and said, "He looked very mature. He saved our team several times and fully deserves lots of compliments."
Looking ahead to the match on Wednesday, the 17-year-old says that he is optimistic of a win and enthuses, "It's a pity we conceded an away goal, but we shouldn't worry too much about that. I have no doubt that we can win the return game.
"Our opponents cannot surprise us: they are a team we really can beat. Why? Because, I think we simply want it more."

The 17-year-old made save after save against Ajax in his debut for Dynamo in the first-leg and kept the score at 1-1. He kept out Luis Suarez twice in the first-half and also Mounir El Hamdaoui in injury time. Koval will again be between the sticks for the Ukrainians in Amsterdam and will have to keep out the home side's attacking moves.
