    Wojciech Szczesny

Made a welcome return from injury and produced a solid performance. Not the busiest afternoon but the Pole was efficient with his handling and distribution. Two sharp saves in the second-half to deny Suarez.

  • Emmanuel Eboue

Emmanuel Eboue Flop of the Match

The Ivorian was solid until a pointless, clumsy challenge on Lucas for the Liverpool penalty. First-half effort blocked by Skrtel before trickling across the six-yard box.

  • Laurent Koscielny
    119
    46
    3.50

    Laurent Koscielny

Played as the sweeper while Djourou man-marked Carroll and it worked as the French centre-back made some telling interceptions - although he tended to dive in with an element of risk. Header from six-yards in the first-half nearly opened the scoring but rattled against the crossbar.

  • Johan Djourou

    3.50

    Johan Djourou

The Swiss defender made a shock return from a shoulder injury that was expected to rule him out for the rest of the season. Looked like he had never been away as he showed anticipation, strength and aerial ability against Carroll and Suarez.

  • Gael Clichy
    62
    75
    3.00

    Gael Clichy

A solid performance from the full-back, untroubled in defence but offered little forward support for Nasri.

  • A. Diaby
    42
    134
    2.50

    A. Diaby

Early header flashed just wide of the post but failed to impose himself on the game as he sat deep, lacking the energy he showed at Blackpool last week.

  • Jack Wilshere
    103
    68
    3.00

    Jack Wilshere

Some classy touches from the youngster but surprisingly he was unable to deliver any killer passes in the 71 minutes before he was substituted.

  • Cesc Fàbregas

    3.00

    Cesc Fàbregas

The Arsenal captain was the creative fulcrum for the hosts, picking the ball up in space and looking to play decisive passes. His ability to get on the ball forced Liverpool to switch formation and he kept trying until the end.

  • Samir Nasri
    70
    95
    3.00

    Samir Nasri

Nowhere near his early season form as he drifted in and out of the game. Seemed to lack the pace and the ideas to threaten Liverpool until he produced a lovely touch to play in Van Persie.

  • Theo Walcott
    57
    93
    3.00

    Theo Walcott

His pace caused problems for rookie full-back Robinson and appeared the Gunners' most dangerous outlet. Fans grew impatient with awful crossing and so did Arsene Wenger as he replaced the winger in the 72nd minute.

  • Robin van Persie
    126
    71
    3.50

    Robin van Persie

Sweet left foot was always a threat and the Dutchman missed a glorious late chance as he smashed the ball straight at Reina. Linked up play well and delivered some dangerous set-pieces.

The Russian replaced Walcott in the 72nd minute but had little impact despite one dangerous cross.

  • Nicklas Bendtner

    Nicklas Bendtner

Replaced Wilshere in the 72nd minute but never presented with a chance to change the game.

  • Pepe Reina
    215
    37
    3.00

    Pepe Reina

Some uncharacteristically shaky moments early on from the Spaniard as he fumbled shots and failed to claim high deliveries in the box. Responded in the second-half with a brilliant save to stop Van Persie from close range and far more reliable handling.

  • Jon Flanagan
    317
    33
    3.50

    Jon Flanagan

His second Liverpool start in the Premier League and his second excellent display. Clever positioning and tenacious tackling to deny Arsenal a route to goal. Clashed heads with Carragher but didn't let it affect him.

  • Jamie Carragher
    200
    29
    3.00

    Jamie Carragher

Marshalled the Liverpool defence with strong tackles and important interceptions as Arsenal dominated the ball in the first-half. Required oxygen as he was taken off on a stretcher following a horrible-looking clash of heads with Flanagan.

  • Martin Skrtel
    210
    32
    3.50

    Martin Skrtel

Strong performance until an ill-advised challenge on Fabregas for the Arsenal penalty. Until that moment had produced countless blocks and last-ditch challenges.

  • Fabio Aurelio
    127
    41
    3.00

    Fabio Aurelio

The Brazilian made a solid, committed start up against Walcott but was replaced after 20 minutes suffering from a hamstring injury.

  • Jay Spearing

Jay Spearing Top of the Match

The player who on the pitch who least deserved to give away the decisive penalty but can have no arguments following his challenge on Fabregas deep into added time. Soured a highly impressive performance from the youngster as he snapped into tackles and did everything he could to deny the home players time on the ball. Read the play well and tidy in possession.

  • Lucas Leiva
    214
    42
    3.50

    Lucas Leiva

Played in a less dynamic role than in the win over Manchester City but was nevertheless important in securing a point for his side. The Brazilian held his position well, denying Arsenal space as he put pressure on the likes of Wilshere and Fabregas.

  • Raúl Meireles
    147
    42
    3.00

    Raúl Meireles

The Portuguese midfielder had few opportunities to demonstrate his quality in the final third but worked hard throughout and looked a threat when the visitors' tried to counter-attack.

  • Dirk Kuyt
    222
    35
    3.50

    Dirk Kuyt

Kept his cool with a brilliant penalty in the 13th minute of added time. A typically industrious performance from the Dutchman as he never neglected his defensive duties. Hassled and harried the Arsenal players and played in Suarez with a lovely pass.

  • Luis Suárez
    184
    47
    3.00

    Luis Suárez

The Uruguayan produced his worst 45 minutes in a Liverpool shirt in the first-half as he constantly gave the ball away. Immediately looked sharper after the break as he picked the ball up in space and ran at Arsenal defenders. Sliced great chance wide from a tight angle.

  • Andy Carroll
    154
    65
    2.50

    Andy Carroll

The £35m started the game impressively as he won headers and tried to bully the Arsenal defenders. Quality of service faded and so did his contribution, as did a knee injury that eventually forced him off 20 minutes from time.

    Sotirios Kyrgiakos
