A reliable display from the Croatian and he got forward to support Aaron Lennon all afternoon. Replaced by Alan Hutton towards the end of the match as Spurs looked for a winner.

    Michael Dawson

The England defender hit the bar with a stunning curling shot from the edge of the box in the opening stages. At the other end of the field he was dependable as ever and marshalled his back four well. It was not one of their busiest afternoons but he stayed alert to the end.

    Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Solid display from the left-back. He pushed on when he could in support of Gareth Bale but never shirked his defensive responsibility, snuffing out numerous West Ham attacks.

    Aaron Lennon

Struggled against Wayne Bridge as the defender shut him out time after time down the right. He switched wings with Gareth Bale during the first-half and the move nearly paid instant dividends as he cut inside Lars Jacobsen and fired a shot onto the post.

    Sandro

The Brazilian is becoming a really important member of this Spurs side. His simple passing and ability to shield the back four is becoming a feature of Tottenham. This afternoon his radar was slightly off though and he gave the ball away far too often when Spurs were in the final third.

  • Luka Modric

    Luka Modric

The little Croatian had Scott Parker snapping at his heels for most of the afternoon but still managed to find plenty of space in the middle of the park. He worked plenty of openings and also had a couple of decent efforts on goal but he was another who could not find the goal Tottenham so craved.

  • Gareth Bale

    Gareth Bale

The Welshman made his first start since January 22 after being plagued by a back injury. He was given an early chance to run in behind Lars Jacobsen using his pace to burn past the full-back and send in a cross. It gave everybody in the ground a huge lift. But Jacobsen respoinded well and kept the Welshman quiet for most of the game. He nearly won it for his side though as he sent a free-kick towards the top corner but Robert Green somehow kept it out.

  • Rafael van der Vaart

    Rafael van der Vaart

Drifted all over the field to find space and cause West ham problems with his movement. The Dutchman had plenty of sights of goal but he could not beat Robert Green. His afternoon was ended after being replaced by Roman Pavyluchenko after 71 minutes.

Jermain Defoe Flop of the Match

It just was not the England striker's day as he was left stranded on 99 goals for Tottenham. He had numerous chances to score against his former club but left his shooting boots at home as he wasted chance after chance.

Robert Green Top of the Match

His goal was under siege for most of the match but the England keeper stood up to everything threw at him. He made save after save, the highlight being a stunning effort to tip Gareth Bale's free-kick onto the bar. It looked certain to finish in top corner but he managed to get a slight touch on the ball to keep it out.

    Lars Jacobsen

Was beaten for pace by Gareth Bale on one occasion early on in the match but as the game grew he became more composed against the Welshman. He closed him down quickly and made sure he had no space to run in to.

    Manuel Da Costa Trindade

Looked to have picked up a knock early on but looked more comfortable as the game went on. Alongside Matthew Upson he stayed strong despite Tottenham's dominance. It was a real backs to the wall job from the Hammers defence and Da Costa was a huge part in that.

  • Matthew Upson

    Matthew Upson

The former Arsenal player was booed at every opportunity by the Spurs supporters but the West Ham skipper put in a good shift under constant pressure. He marshalled the defence well and won plenty of aerial battles. However he did struggle on occasions with Jermain Defoe's pace.

  • Wayne Bridge

    Wayne Bridge

The on loan defender showed all experience in dealing with the threat of pacy winger Aaron Lennon. Bridge did not give him any change and in the first-half Lennon even switched wings. The former England full-back used his body well to get in between the ball and his opposite man.

    Carlton Cole

The big forward had a glorious opportunity to give his side the lead when he was one on one with Heurelho Gomes but his shot lacked any conviction and the keeper saved easily. Another who left his shooting boots at home as he wasted West Ham's best chances of the game. Made a poorly timed tackle on Rafael Van der Vaart after the break and was shown a yellow card.

    Demba Ba

Showed willing and discipline alongside Carlton Cole. He worked hard at getting back to help out in defence but in attack he did not see as much of the ball as he would have liked. When he did manage to find some time and space on the ball he nearly broke the deadlock for his side with a stunning 25-yard shot, which was just tipped round the post by Heurelho Gomes.
