    Wojciech Szczesny

Another blemish-free display by the impressive young Pole. Slightly conservative on crosses but his catching and decision-making has won the confidence of the back four.

  • Bacary Sagna

    Bacary Sagna

No-one showed more commitment to the cause as Arsenal staged what could be a season-defining comeback.

  • Johan Djourou
    203
    20
    3.50

    Johan Djourou

Struggled against Saha in the early going but grew in authority as the game wore on, even when confronted by the giant Fellaini in the closing minutes.

  • Laurent Koscielny

    3.50

    Laurent Koscielny

More of this and he will become a cult hero in these parts. Kept his composure to steer in the winner with a fine header. Got pulled out of position by Saha's movement but was extremely unlucky to unwittingly lay on the assist for the opener when he tried to clear Coleman's pass. By the letter of the law, Saha was offside as the defender's touch was inadvertent, rather than a deliberate back-pass.

  • Gael Clichy

    Gael Clichy

Solid display by the Frenchman, who kept his head when many were losing theirs in the first hour.

  • Alexandre Song
    96
    57
    2.50

    Alexandre Song

Lucky to escape censure for a two-footed tackle on Heitinga in what was a below-par display by the Cameroonian before the break. Withdrawn at half-time.

  • Cesc Fàbregas
    210
    21
    3.50

    Cesc Fàbregas

Barely a game goes by without the Spanish artist throwing a wobbly - either at the opposition, officialdom or himself. Led the protests at Everton's controversial goal and got frustrated with some of the challenges by the visitors. Nevertheless, he was always a lively and inspirational figure on the ball and twice came close to scoring the opener before his clever dink laid on the equaliser for Arshavin.

  • Jack Wilshere
    131

    3.00

    Jack Wilshere

Produced the odd delightful pass but not as influential as he has been recently. Struggled to gain a foothold in midfield against Everton's dogs of war and was withdrawn for Bendtner as Arsenal searched for an equaliser.

  • Theo Walcott
    123
    26
    3.00

    Theo Walcott

Given the luxury of the full 90 minutes, he was always a willing outlet without finding too much joy against the excellent Baines until space opened up towards the end.

  • Tomas Rosicky

    2.00

Tomas Rosicky Flop of the Match

Surprisingly preferred to Arshavin, he made the Russian's recent desperate performances seem impressive by comparison. Almost invisible on the left flank bar a few wayward passes.

  • Robin van Persie
    223
    18
    3.50

    Robin van Persie

Produced some unbelievable nuggets of skill, including two consecutive Zidane-style drag-backs in one thrilling passage of play, and came close on a number of occasions to grabbing an equaliser. But his free-kicks were disappointing.

Substitutions

  • A. Diaby

    A. Diaby

Replaced Song at half-time as Arsenal's deepest midfielder and maintained his discipline impressively.

  • Andrey Arshavin
    341
    6
    3.50

    Andrey Arshavin

Took his equaliser beautifully with what Arsenal fans will hope will be the beginning of a much-needed renaissance. Interestingly, he played in the centre-forward position for the last 20 minutes.

  • Nicklas Bendtner
    223
    18
    3.50

    Nicklas Bendtner

His power and touch added an extra dimension to Arsenal's attacks.

  • Tim Howard
    27
    16
    3.00

    Tim Howard

Made some excellent blocks and saves, including one outstanding stop from van Persie. But his communication with his defence for the winner will have outraged the Everton coaching staff.

  • Phil Neville
    21
    21
    3.00

    Phil Neville

Tottenham might think he's only worth £250,000 but his competitiveness and leadership is worth its weight in gold to Everton. Tired in the second half and was replaced late on.

  • John Heitinga
    20
    23
    3.00

    John Heitinga

Had a running spat with countryman van Persie in what was an enthralling battle. Made some excellent interceptions on a busy night for the Everton defence.

  • Sylvain Distin
    21
    15
    3.50

    Sylvain Distin

Dominated in the air, maintained his discipline and, crucially, kept his concentration until the terrible mix-up for Arsenal's winner.

  • Leighton Baines
    31
    20
    3.50

    Leighton Baines

Fine display by the in-form left-back, who kept Walcott quiet until the last 10 minutes and was a willing accomplice to Everton's raids down the left flank.

  • Seamus Coleman
    17
    10
    3.00

    Seamus Coleman

His slightly errant pass set up Saha, via Koscielny's boot, for the opener as he mixed energy with some fine deliveries from the right flank.

  • Mikel Arteta
    26
    20
    2.50

    Mikel Arteta

Neat enough in possession but did not find much time or space to exert any real influence.

  • Jack Rodwell
    31
    22
    3.50

    Jack Rodwell

Disciplined and feisty display by the jack-of-all-trades, who was the most advanced of the midfielders in the first half before taking on a more protective role after the break. Will have wished he was a few inches taller to put Fabregas' dinked centre out of harm's way before Arshavin stole in for the equaliser.

  • Diniyar Bilyaletdinov
    23
    15
    3.00

    Diniyar Bilyaletdinov

Solid display from the Russian, who doubled up on Walcott and provided a useful outlet on the left flank. Subbed midway through the second half.

  • Marouane Fellaini
    118
    69
    4.00

Marouane Fellaini Top of the Match

Did not just stand out for his Afro. A colossal figure in the first half sweeping up in front of the Everton defence and robbing the hosts of possession. Thrown forward at the end as the visitors chased an equaliser.

  • Louis Saha
    36
    27
    3.50

    Louis Saha

He was miles offside for his goal but benefited from Koscielny's touch and finished clinically. His touch, hold-up play and movement was so good that you wonder what might have been for the extravagantly gifted Frenchman.

Substitutions

  • Leon Osman
    11
    18
    2.50

    Leon Osman

Provided some energy on the right flank but struggled to get on the ball.

  • Victor Anichebe

    Victor Anichebe

Added height to Everton attack late on but did not get any opportunities.
